The project is a remodeled existing building, dedicated for senior housing. Our target market for this project is for the average income elderly. This project will support sustainabilty in terms of LEED credits. LEED is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. It is one of the most popular green building certification programs used worldwide.
PROGRAM The Senior Living center project requires a building that accomodates - Lobby - Dining Room - Kitchen - Community - Library - Gym - Staff’s and Nurse Office - 8 Studio Apartments complete with A.D.A requirements
ABOUT THE SITE Address: 5545 3rd St, San Francisco 94124 Neighborhood area: South East Bayview district Bayview has a strong diversity in cultural backgrounds. The location is a perfect place for senior housing since other than having lots of amenities, it is part of the sunniest neighborhood in San Francisco.
73
CONCEPT STATEMENT
The concept of this project is Oasis. Oasis can be defined as a green spot in a desert that could be a place or thing offering welcome relief as from difficulty or dullness. This senior housing is intended to be an ‘Oasis’ in the neighbourhood to the elders who usually have depression due to their coming age and health problems. In order to achieve the idea of oasis, I am inspired by the characteristics of the sand dunes in the middle of desert. Therefore, I apply neutral and bright color pallete to overall space to achieve calming and relaxing athmosphere, accompanied by repeated texture that mimics the sand waves.
