I greatly appreciate the amount of effort that goes into the Renaissance and I believe I would work excellently with the staff at Suncoast High School in creating a fantastic yearbook. I would like to apply to the staff of this outstanding yearbook. As the Photo Editor of my middle school yearbook prior to this year, I have mastered skills in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. This year I have taken up the job of Editor in Chief which puts a lot of responsibility on my hands. Both years, I have taken interviews, taken photos, written copy, and designed layouts. Working with other people for two years, I have learned to cooperate well with others and that would make me an asset to the staff. I am completely aware of the achievements your yearbook has gotten. I understand the main target of the audience and what they want. Since it’s a yearbook, we have to remember to try and get everyone in the school. In producing a yearbook before, these important things come right to mind when out in the field. These must be remembered to appeal the target audience. I appreciate you considering me for the Renaissance staff. I hope we will be able to have an interview so you can get to know my abilities in a simple conversation. I have attached a resume of my experience to further show my qualifications. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you, Aditya Jadvani

2015-2016

I

started in journalism in creative writing first. In Creative Writing our teacher had introduced us to apply for yearbook. That’s where I started because in the application I had to create a copy and captions to introduce me to journalism. In this course throughout the two years, I have learned to work in my teams and accomplish our spreads in time. Our deadlines have been stressful but I have learned to finish my spreads in time to make sure I do not get past the deadline. I also learned how to create copy and captions. I also learned how to place photos, prepare photos, and take proper photos. I have also learned how to download photos from my first year. Then we also have to place copy and captions, which we created. I also learned to be dedicated to creating the yearbook and use time management. I used my time management skills to conduct interviews in the shortest time possible all while gaining more info. This was an extremely valuable class to take because you learn how to write better and it gives you an opportunity to move on with what we do in class. It also helps us improve grammar and learn important skills for life such as time management and being dedicated to what you do. In the future, in any job you take, you will always have to learn important skills such as these in every field of jobs.

Reflection #2

2015-2016

I

think that the piece that required the most work would be the Helping Hands spread. I learned that the greatest thing in as team is to work together and cooperate. We were all focused on getting our part done that none of us would be there to help the others in the team. It could be improved by taking better pictures and if we had used more research in the copy. Not only that but we didn’t really put time and effort into going outside and taking pictures ourselves of students doing community service but instead we had to try and find a picture at the last moment. Waiting till the last moment got us a terrible quality photo which was the photo in the library. We could have also worked on improving the actual design because it did not come out as the best it could have possibly been. One of the major things that caused this was the fact that we were using a floating hand on the page for “Helping Hands”. My feelings toward this spread are that it was an awful design and the overall spread could have been improved in so many ways.

I like this photo because it shows what classes do besides taking notes. It utilizes depth of field and also rule of thirds. It shows the amount of effort the students put into these clay tablets. CLAY TABLET_6TH_ADITYA.jpg

I’m proud of this picture because it allures the audience. It uses depth of field and rule of thirds, which is why it allures the audience. The bright colors also add to the neatness of the photo. PEP RALLY04_ADITYA.jpg

I like this picture because it represents the arts and what our school was made for. It shows depth of field, center of visual interest, and framing. I am attracted to this photo because it shows something you don’t see every day. SPEECH AND DEBATE_ADITYA.jpg

Reflection #4

2015-2016

I

was an asset to this year’s staff because I would always work really hard and cooperate. I was also a good leader in times of need such as when nobody could take one picture in our team I stepped up and coordinated everything so we would maintain our deadline. That is also an example of how I worked together with the other people in the team in finishing the spread. When I say I work hard, I mean it. An example of that was when we realized that Staff Bios and Colophon spread did not consist of many of the things that needed to be there such as the definition of the color groups. That was when I worked really hard with the help of a fellow staffer and we finished the whole thing just in time of the deadline. Even at the beginning of the year I had always pursued to do something in all of my spreads all while being an editor in chief at the same time. While being an editor in chief, I had always needed to make sure that the whole class was on task and working or else we would never have met our deadlines.

Reflection #5

2015-2016

A

s a student on the staff, I felt there were many problems we all faced. One of the problems was working in a team and communicating with each other. The Math spread could be an example of this because we didn’t communicate and most of our photos had to be taken by the same person. Another hardship was the whole Staff Bios and Colophon spread. This was because the spread had to be redesigned multiple times to incorporate all the names needed. I learned from these situations by working even harder to recover from these mistakes. I spent no time goofing off when I needed to get something done. I learned to make sure my time is used well to get things done. I also learned that I needed to stay more organized so that I wouldn’t lose important papers, such as the approval sheet for the Staff Bios and Colophon spread. Overall I think I handled the situation well because I always ended up meeting the deadlines that I needed to. I could have done more to keep the situation at hand but overall I still I felt that I did well.

If there were things I needed to do, I would get right to it instead of goofing off and not being focused on my jobs. I also felt like when I would play around I would make up for it in time to make sure my team doesn’t look bad in what we did. When something would happen in our team, I would never point fingers at anyone just because we were a team and we had to work together to get the spread finished. If it was one person’s fault, I would try to get the team to work harder instead of standing there and wasting time pointing fingers. Finally, when one person plays around I try to stop them or ignore them because they are making their spread worse because without another person the spread won’t be the best they can do.

Reflection #6

2015-2016

I

feel like I had a lot of goals throughout the year but three of them stood out the most. They were improve my writing, improve my time management, and improve my organization in the class. This year, I needed to become a better writer than last year because I felt like I did not do so well last year in writing my copy, such as for Strings. This year I felt like I improved well by copy editing and getting a lot of the copy approved. Last year, I believe I gofed around way too much. Since I goofed around so much, I didn’t get a lot of my spreads in on time. But this year I felt like I met my goal throughout the last two deadlines because I had every single one of my spreads done way before the deadline came around. In the beginning of the year, I had lost a lot of things. I didn’t know where they went and this caused me to be late on my spreads. But near the ned of the year, I knew where everything was, and it helped me work towards better spreads.

T

his year, my portfolio blew last year’s out of the water. The writing was improved in many ways. My grammar was better and I believe I was way more specific in my essays, which is something I didn’t do last year. But the most I improved in was my design. Last year’s design was amazing, but this year’s portfolio design uses a basic geometric shape. This simplistic design makes the portfolio look much better than what it was last year. Last year’s colors were awful and it didn’t have consistency. The consistency was awful because some of the fonts and font sizes were different and such but this year, I used the same font for every body paragraph and I used the same font size. These reasons are the ones that make this year’s portfolio much better than my old one.
