PORTFOLIO
Hi there, My name is Jessica Meissner and I am a graphic designer and all-rounder based on the Gold Coast. I have always shown an interest in anything creative and have spent my time playing with paint, scribbling with pencils and cutting up paper. These days I enjoy logo and branding design, layout design, event graphics and typography. I keep myself busy by constantly trying new things and experimenting with anything I can get my hands on. I have a keen eye for detail and pride myself on creating designs that are full of emotion and connect with people.
Savour Restaurant & Bar Branding Savour is an eco-friendly restaurant and cafe that prides itself on its sustainable practices and delicious food. It was important to brand this company in a way that reflected their morals yet was still visually appealing and eye-catching. The logo was designed through a process of sketches and word association. The pig originated through the idea of a piggy bank and instead of money inside there is a plant that represents our fragile environment.
The Leaf Series Relief Printmaking The Leaf Series is a project in printmaking, specifically working with lino and wood blocks. The idea was born after a walk through my university campus. I am normally rushing to a lecture or hurrying home but on this occasion I took the time to really look at the world around me. I noticed how many different tree species were in such a small area and started collecting leaves and using them as inspiration.
Baby Shower Collateral Event Branding/Layout Design I was asked to come up with an invitation design for a baby shower. There were no instructions apart from the fact that it had to be gender neutral. I created this floral design, pairing it with this soft, flowing typeface. After seeing the invitation, I was asked to add other collateral for the day, including thank you notes, tea bag tags, food labels, a please take one sign and a cake topper.
Ruminate Branding Branding/Layout Design Ruminate is a locally owned company that specialise in custom made, multiuse kitchenware. As a business built around morals, it was essential to capture the natural element in my designs. This company prides itself on it’s minimal carbon impact through the use of materials and their branding needed to reflect this.
Unimpressed Pets Illustration Unimpressed Pets reflects my interactions with my own pets. I swear they give me this look of disgust or annoyance sometimes. These unimpressed pets started off as hand drawn sketches that were scanned and vectorised. I added clothes to them as well as colour to bring them to life.
