Dear friend, I was really excited with your overwhelming response towards the June issue of True Friend. July means new beginnings, with new books, courses, dresses, and friends; and I want you to have new success too. Real success is accomplishing God’s desires in every small thing for which God provides His strength. Success has different meanings for different

When you get your mind going in the right direction, you will get your life going in the right direction too. Allow God’s word to diffuse into

JULY 2015

We have wrapped this issue with a beautiful message from Samuel Paul in page 2, where he has penned about how the love of God towards us brings success. As you read on, in page 5 my daughter Stella Ramola unveils what success means in every simple thing. There are few faith-inducing testimonies and… your own space to play! Wishing for brighter days, - Evangeline Paul Dhinakaran

A bag is a common tool to carry and store things. But, can it serve the purpose if it has holes? No. Likewise, your visions and goals are too valuable to allow holes in them. Yes! Small holes may leak success out of your life. Brent Beshore, Founder and CEO of “Adventur.es,” a Midwestbased private equity firm has

brought to light a few unnoticed factors that sabotage success in ‘Forbes’ magazine as – poor grammar, disorganized lifestyle, fault-finding attitude, lack of patience, over-projections, overcommitment, unfocused attitude, comparing with others. Booker T. Washington also says, “Success in life is founded upon attention to the small things rather than to the large things.” The Bible says, “As dead flies give perfume a bad smell, so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor” (Ecclesiastes 10:1). Moreover, in Song of Songs 2:15, we read, “Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom”. Just like ‘dead flies in perfume’ and ‘foxes in vineyards,’ watch out for those small things which might eat away your success, without you even noticing them. Now, let’s journey through the Word of God, identify them, and chuck them out. I wish to present a few mind attitudes which the Bible talks as hurdles in achieving your goal -

obsessive sleeping (Prov. 6:10; 20:13; 24:33), overeating (Prov. 23:2,20-21; 25:27), slanderous talks (Prov. 14:23; 1 Peter 2:1), dishonesty (Prov. 12:17; 13:11; 19:9; 20:17; 28:20), greediness (Prov. 1:19; 15:27; 28:22, 25) and contempt (Prov. 14:31; 17:5; 18:3). Dear friend, if you happen to identify any of these holes in your bag, plead with God for His mercy to help you in mending them. Dependence on God, good planning and the effort that you put in will lead to success (Proverbs 21:5). A saying goes, “Do the small stuff. A consistent little will earn you a lot”. The little things might be as simple as - getting up on time, prioritizing schoolwork, eating healthy food, appreciating others, additional ten minutes of practice, using spare time to help someone or accepting one’s own mistake. Small things matter. These little drops that are invested in your life in this small age will form an ocean of blessings. Today, I invite you to mend your bag… to remove the dead fly from your perfume… to chase the fox out of your vineyard! Success is yours

My time spent in Karunya was truly life-changing. Without the education, experience and exposure that Karunya provided me, I would never have had such a rich growth in me. I joined Masters in Technology in Karunya University in the year 2011. “Why am I joining here? What will happen after this?” – This was my big question at that time. Sometimes, I even thought that it was a mistake to have joined Karunya, especially when I attended the morning assembly and evening hostel prayers. I always thought, “Half an hour is wasted in prayers. I could rather do something else....” Though I was a miser in giving my time to God, He never forsook me. In the first semester, I stood first in the class. Only then did I realize that I had joined Karunya under the perfect will of God. After that, God started

speaking to me in the assembly prayers and hostel prayers, which encouraged and comforted me. I was motivated a lot by the faculty members. Whenever I wanted to clarify any doubts, they helped me and supported me. After my M.Tech I attended my first interview with a Multinational Corporation M/s. IBM India Software Lab, Bengaluru and was selected with a salary pack of Rs.6 lakhs per annum by His amazing grace. I also bagged a University Rank with 8.8 CGPA, being a topper in my class. I was very much interested to pursue Ph.D (full time) when I was working in the organization. He is a God who fulfils our heart's desires. God enabled me to acquire a Ph.D position in Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM) Chennai (a Central Govt. institute under MHRD), with a stipend of Rs.30K

per month with free hostel facility and full contingency and now I am pursuing my Ph.D. The lessons and experiences God taught me at Karunya have given me the confidence, hope and motivation to face the challenges of the real world. I thank the Lord Almighty, all the faculty members, and the administrative staff of Karunya.

It was my dream to become a doctor. I have been longing for my dream to come true from my childhood. When I completed my 12th Std., I could not get admission in Government Medical College. Owing to the financial condition of my family we could not opt for Private colleges too. I didn’t know what to do. I was very disappointed and struggled for several weeks to get back on my feet. It felt as though my dream was shattered to pieces and I was travelling through a tunnel of darkness. Deciding not to waste one year, I started doing voluntary service in ‘Jesus Calls’ Prayer Tower. The time I spent there were the best times of my life. God started strengthening me day by day. I knew what was awaiting me next step was to be nothing short of amazing. Unexpectedly, in the next academic year I got admission with fee concession in a private Medical College. I give all glory to God. Now I have completed my medicine. During my final year, the subjects were tough and I found them difficult to learn. Being a Young Partner I called the prayer tower and received prayers. I cleared my medicine in first class by the grace of God. Today, I am working as an apprentice. I praise the Lord for showering His blessings on me. - Vinolin Monica, Chennai
