What happens when you stop meditating Ever wondered what happens when you stop meditating? Here is what I found happened to me: Sometimes life gets in the way of our spiritual practice. I have found myself hitting some stumbling blocks along the way of my career and decided to focus more on work. And by extension, stressing about work. Here’s what happens when you stop meditating.
Stress Instead of spending that 30 minutes in the mornings on practicing mindfulness, I tried adding this additional 30 minutes to my work in order to get more done. I soon found that I started grabbing on to anxiety prone thoughts that does nothing more but bring me suffering. Research shows that there is a clear difference in stress levels between people who meditate and people who don’t.
Less productive Being less productive is also what happens when you stop meditating . I found that I
became way less productive when I stopped meditating. I ended up worrying more and working less. In Eckhart Tolle’s book – The Power of Now,he talks about how artists, scientists, etc. produce their best work in that moment of no thought, when they are completely present in the moment. It has been said that this happens because we tap into the unlimited wisdom of the universe, instead of trying to solve problems with our own limited mind. Even though I’m not exactly present 100% of the time, all the time in days that I start with meditation, I do see a big change in my work ethic; I do things faster, I am more focused, and ideas just flow out of me. It has only been one morning since I came back to meditating and I am already feeling such a big difference. I am feeling a sense of lightness and I am constantly reminded to not take life too seriously. I am continuing on giving it my all when it comes to achieving my goals, but I am no longer standing in the way of my own success through negative thinking.

Fatigue Fatigue is what happens when you stop meditating. I found that I got tired way easier than than I usually would have when I included meditation in my morning routine. I soon ended up getting out of bed just a little later and started resting just a little more. I soon realized what a big difference those 30 minutes in the morning make to me. It is definitely worth investing this time into yourself. If you’re new to meditation, I highly recommend that you give it a go and see if it makes a difference in your life. There are many guided meditations out there which you can find on You Tube if you feel you need some guidance. I found that a great place to start is to just focus on your breathing.
