But the good news is you can take some work away from our busy bees and swap out beeswax for plant-derived oils such as vegetable oil (in makeup), avocado oil, jojoba seed oil, and argan oil (bodycare products). Synthetic beeswax also closely matches the texture and effects of the real deal. As we become more aware of our impact on the world, we’re addressing the ethics and the sustainability of everything we consume. Shaving 24 hours before tanning is the optimum time. But if you’ve got a lastminute night out you need to tan for, don’t worry – you can still tan even if you’ve just shaved.
Dry and protect: immediately before tanning
Reduce potential streaking when you apply your tan by completely drying your body hair, stubble, hairline, and skin completely. Then, apply a thin coating of lip balm or Vaseline on your nails, eyebrows, and hairline to prevent the tan from staining or leaving weird streaks around these areas. Apply your tan Now it’s time for application. For sprays, apply a single, light coating all over your body from an arm’s length distance using a soft, circular motion.
Moisturise: get into the habit early For the smoothest tan application, it’s best to moisturise regularly in the buildup to your tanning session. That goes for your face and your body – but it’s best to use separate products for each. Facial moisturisers are formulated to address your specific skin concerns, like oiliness or acne, while body lotions tend to be a bit too heavy for the face and can make you break out We recommend moisturising your face twice a day, every day, after you wash it. Exfoliate: 24 hours before you tan Exfoliating your face and body is the next step. If you’re new to exfoliating, don’t panic – it’s really straightforward. Our skin is thicker than women’s skin, which means it can be a bit rougher in texture too. There are 23 treatment rooms upstairs that offer massages, nail treatments and skin treatments to name a few. Whittlebury Hall and Spa also has an award winning 36-hole golf course, driving range and putting green. Weddings and conferences can also be held here.
Plenty of parking spaces available and signposts so you know where to park for the golf course and where to park for the hotel. The hotel is very grand looking and has a beautiful courtyard area. We arrived at reception and were advised to go straight to the spa reception to get ready for our spa day. The ladies on main reception and at the spa reception were all very welcoming. Upon arrival to the spa, we were offered drinks and were sat in the seating area. We were given envelopes with our spa itinerary and our locker wristband fobs and were told our robes and towels were in them waiting for us. We did think that as this was an overnight spa stay that the use of slippers would be included but they were available for an extra purchase. We luckily had suitable footwear though so this was not a problem. We were advised where we could find the pool, dining area and where the treatment area was. Once changed, we headed out to the spa area. There was a big hydrotherapy pool in the centre and around the outside there were Tepidarium, foot baths, experience showers, an area that had Caldarium and aromatherapy crystal steam rooms and an area that had a bucket shower, sanarium, sauna and ice cave. Unfortunately, during our stay, the area that had Caldarium and aromatherapy crystal steam rooms was closed as it was having works completed. The spa area was lovely and clean, as were the changing areas. It did feel quite busy at times but we found the afternoon was quite quiet. A two-course lunch was included in the stay and we were given a time to go down to the dining area. We were able to stay in our robes which was nice. This was a two-course buffet lunch and there was a bar area for you to order and pay for drinks. There wasn’t a huge variety of food available on the hot buffet (it included salmon, wedges, rice, chicken, squid and a few other items). There was also a cold buffet that included meats, rolls, salads etc. There were deserts available and they were amazing. From the dining area you could see the main swimming pool with loungers around the sides. There was also a jacuzzi in there Aftertoo. some more time in the spa we both had our coconut tranquillity massage. We were taken to separate rooms for the treatments. It was such a relaxing massage, focusing on the arms, shoulders and scalp. They lasted around 40 minutes and we both came out feeling so relaxed. Once we had finished our massage, we were able to get our room key. Our room was located on the first floor. There were multiple lifts and stairways up. The room exceeded expectations. It had a huge bathroom with two sinks, a big bath, shower, toilet and there were complimentary toiletries. There were also robes and slippers for us to use during our stay. There was a big wardrobe, tea and coffee making facilities with complimentary items. There was a

A 3-course dinner in Astons restaurant was included in our stay. We were given a time when we had arrived at the hotel and offered a change if this wasn’t suitable. We were seated in a grand room, lovely spacious table and we were seen to immediately by our waitress for the evening, Lilly. Between us we selected a salmon starter and a tomato and basil soup starter, both of which came out promptly and were both very nice and full of flavour. Mains we chose pollock and chips and lamb. The pollock was succulent and the peas were really nice. The lamb melted in the mouth and was delicious. Dessert, we chose croussilant and cheesecake, and again both were really appetizing. All food was brought out in a timely manner. Our service was finished by Michael who was really polite and attentive.

After a restful nights sleep we went down for breakfast which was also in Astons restaurant. It was a buffet style breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausages, black pudding to name a few items. There was also a table with cereals and croissants. There was toast available and cold drinks including orange juice, apple juice, water and cranberry juice. Our waitress also brought hot drinks over to our table. He breakfast was very nice and great fuel for our journey home.
