Hello to all from Jetline HQ
As I write this I’m looking out the window at 4 inches of snow and dreaming of being on a hot sunny holiday! I hope you’ve all survived the bitter cold and by the time this magazine hits your doorsteps we’ve reached the end of this dreadful cold spell! January has been an exciting time here at Jetline as we’ve moved again to larger premises and now have a 30 seater purpose built call centre and even more dedicated staff trained up and ready to take your calls. This means that we now have the facility to offer our guests the option to come and book their cruise in person and meet some of the team here. It’s a beautiful building with landscaped gardens, ample parking and a great coffee shop which offers a wide variety of drinks and snacks and makes a delicious cappucino. Do call and make an appointment with one of our staff if you’d like to come and have a chat in person about your next cruise holiday – we’d love to meet you and can’t wait to help. You can call and speak to any of the staff on 0800 923 1602 to get a date in the diary soon. This addition of Cruise Ahoy is jam packed as always with loads of exciting news, features and special offers, packaged together exclusively for you by our Product Team. And DON’T FORGET that during the month of February we are offering DOUBLE points as part of our Cruise and Save Reward Scheme – see page 5 for further details. I’m sure you’ll find a cruise that whets your appetite in this months edition, escape the harsh winter weather of the UK and have a relaxed and chilled holiday to look forward to. We’ve lots of other great offers as well, and there’s never enough room to print everything so do call one of our Jetline Cruise Specialists with your requirements and we’ll be happy to help. Cruise Industry News The cruise lines are busy tactically pricing their cruises for this year which means that they are increasing prices on popular sailings and decreasing prices on the ones not currently in demand. Here at Jetline we are busy taking advantage of this – trying to grab prices before they go up and exploiting lower prices before they sell out. The busy booking period is in full swing and the cruise lines are preparing their new Brochure launches ready for the coming months. Plus more details are beginning to emerge on new ship launches. In this edition we have featured the first ever world cruise on the Brand New Queen Elizabeth & the inaugural cruises on the brand new Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam. Plus the fabulous no flying programme from Southampton on the brand new Celebrity Eclipse.
Ceremonies Mark The Float Out Of The World’s Newest Queen Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth reaches a major milestone as special ceremonies at Fincantieri’s Monfalcone shipyard near Trieste, Italy, were held in January to mark the float out of Cunard’s newest liner. Cunard’s President and Managing Director, Peter Shanks, was joined by 79-year-old Florence (Dennie) Farmer, who served as guest of honour at the event. Dennie’s husband, Willie Farmer, joined Cunard in September 1938 and served as Chief Engineer on both the first Queen Elizabeth and Queen Elizabeth 2 until retirement in October 1979. Since her husband’s passing, Dennie has sailed with Cunard many times and her link with the two previous Queen Elizabeth ships is unparalleled. In recognition of this, Cunard has bestowed Dennie with the honour, in Italian tradition, of being “Madrina” to the third Queen Elizabeth.
February start for Dubai’s new cruise terminal The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) have recently stated that Dubai’s new cruise terminal in Port Rashid complex will be open for business in February 2010. The new 3,450-square metre terminal, which was originally due to open in January this year, will be equipped to handle four ships at one time while catering to the increased number of cruise ship calls.
Tutu Takes His Message To Sea Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, the international peace and justice activist, is taking his message of hope for humanity to the high seas in 2010 - as one of the guest lecturers on the Southampton-based ship, Queen Mary 2. The Archbishop will be giving talks in March this year during the Port Louis, Mauritius, to Cape Town leg of a world cruise. “It is a great honour for Cunard to be able to welcome on board an internationally respected figure of such eminence, and we are confident our passengers will be transfixed by what he has to say,”Cunard president and managing director Peter Shanks told the Southern Daily Echo newspaper. Archbishop Tutu was most recently involved in lobbying around the Copenhagen climate change conference, backing tough action against human-assisted global warming. He has also been involved in a range of human rights issues - including freedom for Tibet, action on Zimbabwe and dignity for lesbian and gay people. His concerns are deeply rooted in core Christian convictions. As well as winning the Nobel Peace prize for his opposition to apartheid in South Africa (where he was formerly Anglican archbishop of Cape Town), Tutu has been identified as an inspiration to millions of people - including those sceptical about organised religion in general and Christianity in particular. 4
The move comes at a time when Dubai is rapidly emerging as a sought-after cruise destination for global cruise liners and travellers. It is thus not surprising that the number of cruise tourists visiting Dubai is expected to increase by almost 80 per cent from 2008 to 2010, according to the DTCM statistics. With 250,000 cruise tourists having visited the emirate last year, marking a 37 per cent increase over 2008, Dubai is expected to host 120 ship calls this year with over 325,000 passengers as the new cruise terminal becomes fully operational next month. Hamad bin Mejren, Executive Director Business Tourism and Dubai Cruise Terminal, DTCM, recently said: “Cruise visitors are becoming an increasingly important part of Dubai’s tourism industry and with Dubai Cruise Terminal fully open for business by next month it looks to grow further.” One of the most renowned cruise liners to operate out of the new cruise terminal include Costa Cruises which made Dubai its regional cruise hub in 2007. On February 23 the terminal will see the latest from the Costa Cruises fleet Costa Deliziosa, to be touching Dubai during her Grand Maiden Cruise, which departs from Savona on February 5. And from this month on Royal Caribbean International (RCI) will become the second major cruise line to base a ship in Dubai.

Top 10 tips for a great cruise Part 2
6
VISIT US AT: www.jetlinecruise.com
This is the second in our series of 3 articles in which we feature a couple of essential top 10 lists. Many of you may already know these tips, some things you may have overlooked and others you may not have thought of. As seasoned cruisers we have found that these tips always work to enhance your holiday experience.
1 Forget about the diet & being good! You have absolutely no chance – so don’t even think about it! The cruise lines do a sterling job in offering cuisine to suit all tastes and diets with healthy eating options on the menu as an alternative to the regular fayre. However the temptation is too much from what is on offer – particularly when you walk past the buffet on the way out the pool or sniff tempting dishes when you go to get a cup of tea. Our advice is to graze throughout the day – you will be amazed at the calories consumed. One calorie saving suggestion though - is perhaps to miss out the salad at dinner! 2 Pack all of your formal wear in a separate case This is particularly useful if you have a pre cruise or post cruise hotel stay. You generally will not need your formal wear – we prefer to call it “Cruise Couture” until you board your cruise. So keep it all in a separate case which you will not need to touch until you join the ship. Then all of those special clothes you have packed for the cruise “cruise couture” can be unpacked in pristine un-creased condition ready to amaze your fellow passengers. After all - that blue and white top with the anchor detail and matching pumps would be out of place at the airport ! 3 Pack a Suit Definitely invest in packing a suit even for informal freestyle cruises. I can guarantee that you will use it. Purely for the fact you can separate it and make up different outfits with the separates. When on board despite the best intentions of being obstinately casual – there will be times when you will want to dress up and look your best. 4 Prebook any complex or popular excursions you really want to do This can be done usually by logging in to your booking on your cruise line’s website and using your cruise line booking reference number. Once your cruise has been booked ask your cruise consultant for the separate booking ref number of the cruise. You can check out all sorts of aspects of the cruise and your booking on line. You can usually view the complete list of excursions together with the price that will be on offer at each port of call. We would recommend that you study these to get an idea of what you can see at each port of call. For those that you really want to do – book immediately as those excursions will be probably sought after by everyone else.
To book call: 0800 923 1602
If you leave it until you board your cruise – you may find that the excursion is fully booked. Look out also for complex ones that you cannot do on your own – as these will be popular too. By studying the excursions you will get a good idea of what you can do yourself by local taxi to save lots of money. If once you are on board and you do not feel like going you can usually cancel them a couple of days before hand at no charge. Simplz ! 5 Arrive at the cruise terminal early Sometimes the check in is opened earlier than the time shown on your cruise documentation and so allows you to beat the queues. You will be amazed by how much time you will save by arriving early. For anyone who has booked a package with pre-booked transfers – the coaches will usually arrive at the same time as everyone else. By boarding early your luggage may be delivered to your cabin sooner – giving you more time to unpack and explore the ship before the sail-away party. You can also get to the lunch buffet just as it opens! 6 Give your cabin steward a tip at the start of the cruise This goes against standard cruise protocol of rewarding your steward at the end of the cruise. By giving your steward a small tip at the start - this will be an indication to them of things to come at the end of the cruise and we always find that the service is enhanced. Perhaps a flower on your pillow at night, an extra chocolate, fluffier bathrobes or quicker service. 7 Get to know your table waiter during dinner. Many waiters are treated wrongly as servants and should be seen rather as entertainers. They will enhance your evening dining experience and the quality of food served. Chat to them, take an interest in their day and where they are from – this will give you all kinds of insight into the workings of the ship. Your waiter will then serve you the freshest and hottest of food and will fall over themselves to provide quick service with everything you need. You can then be cheeky and ask for several appetizers and that extra lobster tail on the surf and turf night. On a recent cruise we were part of the select few who were invited on an exclusive tour of the kitchen. If you have had fantastic service - at the end of the cruise discreetly tip your waiter without letting anyone else or Maitre D see – they will really appreciate it.
8 Make friends with fellow passengers This is prefect for when you reach various ports of call where you have decided to do your own thing instead of the organised excursion. If you have made friends it then becomes much more acceptable & easier to do you own thing outside the supposed safety net of the cruise line. A number of you can split the cost of a minibus to get an excellent tour comparable to what you would have got with the cruise line but at a fraction of the cost. By making friends onboard you also get another pair of eyes and ears around the ship to let you know what’s going on – perhaps a scandal on the dance floor or even an unexpected seafood buffet! 9 Pack enough toiletries to last the cruise On your first day at sea - the sun is out and you race down to the pool – only to find you have forgot to pack suntan lotion. We have been caught out a couple of times by this and found that we could not buy any on board. The salt and sea air enhances the tanning power of the sun and you can burn quickly – so suntan lotion is essential even for a short time in the sun. Other toiletries can be purchased on board but they are limited and expensive. Over the counter medicines like paracetemol and seasickness tablets are particularly difficult to find on board. 10 Prebook transportation at the end of the cruise In most cases your booking does not already include this - the most effective and cost efficient way is by booking this on board at the pursers or excursion desk. All cruise lines will offer you the opportunity to book post cruise transfers to the airport or if disembarking in the UK to the nearest major rail station or city. There are two benefits of this – the first is that you will usually leave the ship sooner and if you leave it to the port taxi rank – there will be a large queue. If you are on a fly cruise and have some time to wait before you fly – then check to see if there are any tours which incorporate a transfer to the airport. You will then leave the ship early, your luggage will travel with you under the coach as you visit the sights and you will be delivered effortlessly in time to the airport. We did this once in New York – giving us that extra push to drag ourselves away from the buffet, avoid the post cruise blues and farewell atmosphere in the cruise terminal and do some last minute shopping. This is a perfect way to end your cruise and is best done directly with your cruise line on board.

Destination Focus Canada and New England
12 night cruises from £949pp
Niagara Falls
Historically, Canada/New England cruises were limited to the months when autumn foliage was at it’s finest. Cruise offerings were also limited: to longer cruises on staid vessels aimed primarily at a senior crowd. All that’s changed in recent years - while travellers looking for a white-gloved, 10-night cruise experience can still find plenty of variety, more youthful cruise lines have entered these waters with a variety of cruise lengths, embarkation ports and itineraries on offer. Nova Scotia Citadel
Peggy’s Cove
There are many reasons for this sudden growth. For one thing, the region is rich with history, culture and attractions for all ages as sleepy ports have been energized and provide some of the best shore excursions around for active adults and young children. A Canada/New England cruise today crackles with exciting options that were just not available a few years ago. Nature hikes, speedboat rides in the Bay of Fundy, cycling through national nature preserves, whale-watching excursions, family bike trips and white-water rafting are all on offer. It could be said that the region is becoming cruising’s new Alaska, and with a season that is slightly longer than Alaska’s, since it extends from May until the end of October it’s a great choice for your next cruise holiday. Getting Started Short or long? Party cruise or something more sedate? The onboard ambience from line to line, and ship to ship, can be worlds apart, so it’s a good idea to get your wish list set before choosing a cruise. Ports of call will vary too; on short itineraries cruises rarely venture
8
further north than Nova Scotia, whereas on long ones you’ll visit a variety of villages, towns and cities. Most of the shorter cruises (seven nights or less) sail roundtrip from northeast cities, with Boston and New York offering the most variety. Options from the Big Apple include a variety of lengths, from four- to seven-nighters. For a more port-intensive experience, try those trips that last anywhere from 9 to 14 nights, available from big-ship cruise lines (including Norwegian Cruiselines, Holland America and Princess Cruise) along with upscale companies such as Cunard and Silversea. On these cruise ships you’ll have the option of more variety, not just in ports of call but also in ports of embarkation. Where to Go Typically, key ports of call - for short or long itineraries - include Boston and Halifax. Expand the cruise length and, beyond the aforementioned, you could find yourself in a fascinating melange of ports that range from cosmopolitan cities such as Quebec City to hamlets like Bar Harbor, Maine, and St. John’s, Newfoundland (with lots of mid-sized destinations in between).

Top 10 Activities on a Canada/New England cruise
Bar Harbour, Maine
Indeed, it’s the smaller ports that really set itineraries apart. Some include stops in Newport, Rhode Island, home to some of the biggest mansions in North America, or to Martha’s Vineyard, Gloucester and Provincetown, Massachusetts. Corner Brook or St. John’s, Newfoundland, are unique stops, as is the occasional foray to the French St. Pierre et Miquelon just off the coast of Newfoundland. Prince Edward Island is great for family outings. Choosing A Ship Obviously your experience will vary depending on the ship you choose. Princess Cruises, Carnival and Royal Caribbean International sail this region with some of their biggest vessels, giving guests the full big-ship treatment (lots of activities and kids’ programs), while some lines (Regent Seven Seas, Silversea and Seabourn) have smaller ships and provide a more refined and educational cruise. Holland America, Crystal Cruises and Celebrity Cruises use mid-sized vessels in the region, offering a combination of bigand small-ship experiences. For families, the larger ships offer the most activities and shore excursions that are suitable for kids. Carnival and Royal Caribbean, for example, offer a “Reversing the Rapids Jet Boat Ride” in Saint John, New Brunswick, while Princess Cruises showcase sea kayaking in Acadia National Park and Royal Caribbean features a tug boat tour in Halifax Harbour designed specifically for children.

1 Whale-watching excursions in New England are the number one draw during the late summer and autumn months. The most common sightings are humpbacks, but other species are seen as well, including minke whales, finback whales and right whales. 2 Visiting the cities in this region can offer a wealth of cultural opportunities, but almost all of them have a quirky, off-the-beaten-track museum or two that might be fun to visit. Take the kids to the only Toilet Museum in the world, in Worcester, for example, or to see the witches’ stocks in old Salem, or to the Green Animals Mansion in Newport, wherein an entire zoo’s worth of topiary awaits. The legendary L.L. Bean store in Freeport, Maine, stays open 24 hours a day, and you can see Lenny, the 1,700-pound moose sculpted entirely from chocolate, at Len Libby’s in Bar Harbor. In Prince Edward Island, you can visit Avonlea, home of “Anne of Green Gables.” 3 Most people don’t realize that New England and eastern Canada is a great wine producing region, with several wineries in Massachusetts, Maine, Quebec and Nova Scotia. You can make an entire day trip out of visiting local wineries; in fact, some cruises highlight that in their itineraries. 4 Montreal has a notable jazz festival, film festival and comedy competition every year, but it is also gaining a reputation as one of the leading fashion design cities in the world. Take a stroll through Old Montreal and the converted buildings around the old port; you can visit the designers’ studios and, who knows, you might just meet the next Versace or Vera Wang.
5 There are more bars and pubs per capita in the city of Halifax than in any other city in North America. As a result, the pub-crawling excursion is one of the most popular on any cruise ship. 6 St. John’s is located on the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland, an area rich with the lore of fairies. In fact, many of the towns around the peninsula are named Fairy-something-or-other, and locals still tell fairy stories in the pubs and bars around the region. 7 The Ben and Bill’s Chocolate Emporium in Bar Harbor serves lobster ice cream. Now that’s something to write home about! 8 Fjords aren’t limited to Norway and Chile; North America has them too. A bizarre geographical confluence created the Saguenay Fjord, in that it’s located in the heart of the province of Quebec and is fed by both the Atlantic Ocean and the St. Lawrence Seaway. It’s unique, the only one of its kind in the world. 9 The old quarter of Quebec City is the only fortified city in North America. You can wander the ramparts and look down into the maze of cobblestoned streets below. There’s a funicular a few blocks away that descends to Lower Town, not far from the docks, a very steep (but very short) ride that delights children. 10 You can spend a day walking The Freedom Trail in Boston, the very route that Paul Revere took to warn of the British invasion of the city. It’s two and a half miles long, so wear comfortable shoes! Plan to stop in some of the bakeries in Little Italy (on the trail) for sustenance.
And if all this has whetted your appetite for a cruise around Canada and New England call on our Jetline Cruise Specialists now on 0800 923 1602 – your holiday awaits. 9
Confused where to cruise? Popular cruise destinations at a glance
Where ever you decide to cruise we have the whole world at our finger tips to offer you the best value for money holiday around. Our flexible approach to booking cruise holidays means that we can offer lots of variety and holiday options at much lower prices than available elsewhere.
Caribbean Caribbean cruises offer a surprisingly cheaper alternative to the Mediterranean. The most prolific Caribbean cruises are 9 night fly cruise packages cruising from Florida ports of Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Port Canaveral to the Eastern Caribbean or the Western Caribbean.
Mediterranean Mediterranean cruises offer the most varied itineraries and have more ports of call in a standard cruise than those in other areas of the world. Cruise from Southampton to the Med without the need to fly. Cruises from the UK to the Med are 12 nights or more in duration. For shorter duration Med cruises of upto to 11 nights your only option is to fly to the Mediterranean and begin your cruise from popular destinations such as Venice, Majorca, Barcelona and Rome. Med fly cruises allow you to see much more of the Med than cruising from the UK. They also have the added bonus of avoiding days at sea to and from the Med crossing Bay of Biscay. Cruise different areas of the Med such as Western Mediterranean, Eastern Mediterranean, Greek Islands, the Aegean and the Adriatic.
The most sought after Caribbean cruises for the British holiday maker are cruises which incorporate the big 3 islands such of Barbados, Antigua and St Lucia. Cruising from New York offers a cheaper alternative to cruising fro Florida and gives you the opportunity of combining two holidays in one – a New York City break with a relaxing Caribbean cruise. See our Cunard Queen Mary 2 offers. The best value for money Caribbean cruises are 10-14 nights in duration where the you get to see so much more of the Caribbean than on a standard 7 night itinerary. Check out our early booking Balcony offers on the stylish Celebrity Equinox including tips. Ask our sales team about combination Caribbean cruise and stay holidays with either Las Vegas, Miami Beach, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale or Key West. Caribbean cruises operate year round with the best time to travel being between November to April .
Mediterranean cruises are available from as little as £499pp for 7 nights from Majorca based on low cost flights from Gatwick. There area a range of regional departure airports throughout the UK at a supplement. Med cruises now depart year round visiting some great cities which are not dependent on hot weather, plus many ships have indoor pools to beat the cooler weather in the winter months but still enable you to get a suntan.

ALASKA
These cruises usually sail between May to September, the low priced cruises in May sell out fast and the Summer school holiday departures usually have some late bargains closer to departure. Ask about lower priced fly cruises which depart from Amsterdam or Copenhagen. Not only are these a great price but also present a more accessible option for people who can depart from regional airports instead of travelling down to Dover, Southampton or Harwich. Northern European fly cruises also offer the bonus of avoiding a day at sea each way crossing the North Sea.

Canaries Canaries cruises are great in the Winter months between November to April for reaching some hot weather and sunshine close at hand. There are a number of options to reach the Canary Islands - cruise from the UK, fly directly to the Canary Islands or fly to Barcelona and combine your cruise with some Mediterranean ports of call.
Canada & New England Canada & New England cruises usually operate within a very small cruising season between September to October when the foliage turns an incredible array of colours in the Autumn. Be sure to book early as they sell out fast, with oceanview and balcony cabins being the most popular.
Many Canaries cruises incorporate a visit to Funchal in Madeira famous for the Madeira Wine and cake. Be sure to visit the botanical gardens, the fish and flower markets in the main square and take a thrilling wicker basket sleigh down the cobbled streets from the church at the top of the hill. Sometimes Canary Islands are incorporated into Transatlantic Cruises when ships reposition from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean in the Autumn or vice versa in the Spring
Many cruises depart from either New York, Boston or Quebec and offer the opportunity to combine a city break with your cruise. Have a look at our Royal Caribbean Explorer of the seas offer from New York
South American cruises usually operate in our winter months between Nov – March and offer the ideal alternative to Caribbean cruises for the seasoned cruiser. The most popular cruises are 14 night itineraries from Chile to Argentina around Cape Horn and from Argentina to Antarctica via the Falklands.
Cruise the Hawaiian Islands either by flying to Los Angeles and cruise across the Pacific to Hawaii and Back. Or begin your cruise from Honolulu. The other alternative is a longer duration of 11 nights or more as part of a continuous cruising tour of Asia by the ship . These longer cruises tend to be more expensive as you would fly into one country and out of another. Princess cruises have a full and varied programme thoroughly cruising the Orient, Australasia and the Far East on the Diamond Princess.
Visas and vaccinations are not included in the cost and are extra. Generally the cruise lines have Visas covered unless your cruise incorporates China or India. For help with visas, prices and advice go to www.thevisacompany.com

The cruise holiday, is the ship that gives you the experiences you want, where you want to go and to do things to live your dreams. Having been on 3 star ships and experienced concierge class on 6 star ships, formal and informal cruises, private dinners with the captain and friends, which holiday to pick, each one being so special for different reasons and memories galore. Holidays with memories of Greenland, disco bay, iceberg alley sailing through the icebergs, swimming in the Blue Lagoon, Iceland, the majestic waterfalls and snow capped mountains, floating through the mirror reflection waters in the Fjords. Midnight sun at the mouth of the glaciers, watching the carving of ice after hearing the roar of ice breaking. Sunsets at sea that are breathtaking and romantic strolling on the decks. Floating through rainforests and seeing wildlife in the canopies, watching humpback whale babies in Alaskan waters, different cultures, history, cruising the Red Sea. Sailing into Venice drinking champagne on your balcony, being pampered onboard your cruise ship with staff making you feel very special, broadway style shows and dinner menus that will top any best restaurant, dining choices and not enough hours in the day to be able to do everything on offer. Each cruise holiday being different and special in it’s own right. Carry on Cruising.
Lyn, Dumfries
Having travelled with all major lines, we know no better value holiday than cruising – especially when booked with Jetline Cruise. How else can one see far flung places such as Hong Kong and Dubai or Osaka, Vladivostok and Beijing within single itineraries? Approaching New York by ship; sightseeing and an afternoon at the opera on a day trip in Odessa; a trip from the Red Sea to Luxor, are experiences we have enjoyed on a cruise – each time followed by fine dining, entertainment and dancing to a live band. Absolute bliss! Years ago, our Cruise Director on NCL’s ‘Norway brilliantly rearranged programmes almost daily. The captain had to change course many times to avoid the worst of a hurricane. Entertainers had to extend their programmes because newly engaged staff could not be picked up from ports we were obliged to miss. On QE2 crossing to New York, following the D Day 50th Anniversary in Europe, we found ex GI’s had not forgotten jitterbugging skills! At a cocktail party in the Captain’s private quarters, we were introduced to Douglas Fairbanks Jnr., who was a guest lecturer on board. He had the most fascinating stories to tell. Despite having a cheaper inside cabin, we were invited to the Captain’s table in a private dining room on a Holland America cruise. Twelve of us enjoyed special food and wines note served in the superb restaurants. The photograph (which was enclosed with the entry!) shows my wife on the Captain’s left. I am in the red waistcoat!

Get the most out of your precious holiday time & combine a visit to Las Vegas on the way to your Hawaiian Islands cruise. Perhaps even visit the Grand Canyon. Then fly direct to Los Angeles on the morning of your 14 night cruise. Most though think of exotic Hula girls, Lei Garlands, swaying palms and magnificent sunsets. Perhaps visit Pearl Harbour and the Arizona monument and take a stroll along Waikiki beach on Oahu. Visit the pineapple plantations of Maui, the Wailua Falls and Nawiliwili harbour of Kauai and a Volcano adventure on the Big Island. CANADA & NEW ENGLAND 12 night holidays with Explorer of the Seas Including 2 Nights Hotel Stay in New York
NEW YORK SHOPPING WITH INCREDIBLE SCENERY
Add on Extra nights In New York from £79pp
This offer makes an ideal break to somewhere different - whether it is your main cruise holiday of the year or (if you are lucky enough) for a second holiday of the year. These scenic cruises are a photographers paradise for the wonderful colours of the New England Fall. These 2 in 1 holidays contrast the relaxation of a splendid Autumn cruise with the busy shopping and sightseeing delights of New York. THE SHIP: We have experienced the Explorer of the Seas first hand and we were very impressed. The 3 tiered main restaurant takes your breath away - as does the Royal Promenade shopping style mall where the Free coffee shop and Pizzeria is a great place to relax and watch the world go by. The range of facilities on board are excellent, the décor is tasteful and there are a huge number of bars including the Crown and Kettle British pub and the very stylish Schooner Bar. The fitness spa with its oversized whirl pool and the solarium are welcome adults only retreats and the ice skating rink is well worth a visit. Of course for die hard Royal Caribbean fans the Windjammer self service restaurant is on board providing an almost constant supply of tempting treats.
THE SHOPPING: There is no better place to shop than in New York. Prices when converted to £ Sterling are much cheaper in the US and there are lots of great stores selling goods which you would not find over here. Crate & Barrel On Madison Ave and Pottery Barn on Lexington & 59th are superb home wares stores with amazing stuff which you can’t help but want ! You must visit Tiffanys on 5th Ave and the huge underground Apple Mac I-Pod store close by. For Fashionistas – load up with bargains at Abercrombie & Fitch and Banana Republic on 5th Ave. Jimmy Choo, Chanel, Versace, Cartier, Armani, Dior and a whole host of designer stores can be found nearby. For the Budget conscious Old Navy on 34th St opposite Macy’s is a must – I can guarantee you will buy at least a t-shirt there. Then of course there is Macy’s Dept Store just down the road from the Empire State Building and great for lunch! THE CRUISE: Fly from London to New York. 2 night Manhattan hotel stay. Cruise for 9 nights to Portland (Maine) • Bar Harbor (Maine) • St John (New Brunswick) • Halifax (Nova Scotia) • Boston • New York. Fly direct home overnight.

INAUGURAL 5 MEDITERRANEAN 7-12 night cruises aboard Nieuw Amsterdam BRAND NEW SHIP
Overnight in Port on Board
VENICE INCLUDED
Holland America Line is one of the best kept secrets of the cruising world in the UK. We consider it to be one of the best of what we call the 5 cruising brands. Their modern fleet of cruise ships are spacious, have less passengers onboard relative to their size and are tastefully decorated. Having had the pleasure of travelling on Holland America Line ships we were impressed with the layout, style, teak decks and the 2 very different pool areas. The ships also have some of the best spas at sea with a wonderful hydro therapy pool and thermal suite relaxation lounge. Other facilities include: a theatre, casino, numerous bars, Crows Nest nightclub, Retreat cabana area, Explorations Café, kids clubs and more. All of this signals the great things to come on the brand new Holland America Line Nieuw Amsterdam sister ship to the popular Eurodam. This Signature class ship will have those little touches that enhance your cruising experience such as full divan beds, fluffy bathrobes and daily fruit baskets. Also standard balcony staterooms have bathtubs! Plus this ship will have some great works of art to marvel at whilst walking around. Definitely visit the fabulous Pinnacle Grill which is well worth the few extra pounds cover charge. Other dining options include the main dining room where you can opt for “as You Wish” dining, The Lido for daytime buffets or informal waiter service dining at night. We must also mention the beautiful and tranquil Far Eastern style restaurant at the top of the ship with its adjacent Silk Den lounge and panoramic views. VENICE-INAUGURAL: Fly to Venice. For some this is the only way to cruise the Caribbean on the grandest ship of them all - the Queen Mary 2. When moored next to other ships in port – she towers above them and creates a real presence in any port or bay. When in various ports of call – you tend to meet people from other cruise ships who tend to be in awe of the Queen Mary 2 and decide that a cruise on board is unaffordable. As you can see from our exclusive offers below not only are they affordable – but also incredible value for money. Cunard have the cuisine on board just right for the British palette where food is available 24 hours a day with typical Cunard quality, service and style.
The itineraries offer a good all round experience of the Caribbean with some little gens included – such as the cobbled shopping streets of St Thomas, the golden sands of Grand Anse beach in Grenada and the rainforests of St Lucia.

BRAND NEW LUXURY CRUISE PROGRAMME Measuring 6680km in length, the Nile is the world’s longest river. It brought the nation of Egypt into being and its banks are clustered with the temples and tombs of the country’s illustrious past. Luxor and Aswan are the well-deserved jewels in the crown and few can resist time spent on the water itself.
Discover some of Egypt’s finest ancient monuments and stunning scenery alongside the banks of the Nile and visit the stunning city of Cairo. Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie or a culture vulture a cruise to this destination will have something to satisfy every guest. And with the Luxury Nile Cruise Programme you can enjoy the indulgence of 5-star treatment from start to finish. An ultimate Nile cruise will experience all the sites and sights along the Nile plus Aswan, Lake Nasser and the fabulous temple at Abul Simbel. THE SHIPS - M/S Sun Ray and M/S Darakum We have travelled to the Nile several times to check out over 120 vessells in a bid to select the most luxurious ships we could find. We feel that these two ships - M/S Sunray and M/S Darakum are the best on the Nile. They are the highest quality and are in keeping with 5 star Deluxe standards that one would expect in Europe. Unfortunately standards in Egypt are much lower than those in Europe and most ships which are supposedly 5 star by Egyptian standards are in reality 3 star by European standards and a big disappointment. Remember you only get what you pay for and in this case you will be receiving the highest quality to exceed expectations. Our ships have 5 decks with comfortable river view ensuite staterooms, a maginificent restaurant (full board), luxurious lounge with bar and disco, mini gym, swimming pool, sun deck, laundry and valet.
