Welcome to the second issue of the exciting new look Cruise Ahoy! Firstly I’d just like to thank all our valued customers for their business in January, despite the economic turn down the news are harping on about we had a record month and have been surprisingly busy. I guess it’s because we’re all thinking about our up and coming holidays this year, what with all this freezing cold weather - I know I am! If you’re worrying about holidaying during the credit crunch, then don’t. Cruises represent the best value for money holidays around. Just look at the facts: cruises are now much cheaper than they were ten years ago and with the fantastic all– inclusive packages there is so much included in the price of your cruise, all your entertainment, food and drinks, accommodation and the chance to hop from one great port of call to another. For those of you out there who haven’t experienced a Nile Cruise then now is the time to book. Not only are we offering some amazing deals on Nile Cruises (we have 7 night 4* cruises starting at only £399!) but we are soon to be able to offer a dedicated Nile cruise section headed by an advisor who has over 4 years of selling Nile cruises and has in fact visited the region at numerous times. If you’re still not convinced, take a look at our destination focus this issue. Nile Cruises are truly one of the most epic journeys that you can experience and they are the ideal way to sample the best of Egypt. You can even add a week– long stay in places such as Luxor from only £119pp. The temple of Luxor is one of the most famous sites in Egypt, definitely not to be missed and the Valley of the Kings has more than 60 royal tombs, including that of Tutankhamun.

MEET THE TEAM
Meet the Jetline team Following on from last month meet the team we would like to introduce you to Greg Davis and Kelvin Sexton. Below you can find out a little more about them.
I
am Kelvin and spent years running a business from my retreat in the Costa Del Sol. Initially I had set up a very well known employment agency based in London and then moved onto a small chain of betting shops. Went into retirement in 1999 but boredom getting the better of me so started a golf holiday package company in the Costa’s. I was then offered the opportunity to manage a sales team of a large holiday company in the Algarve. Came back to the UK in 2002 and joined Cruise Control and worked my way through the ranks to middle management working along side Ian and Martin who you met in the last edition. After Cruise Control went back into retirement but was dragged out of retirement by Ian and have been with Jetline more or less from the start.
As my wife is Spanish I love the different Mediterranean type of cruise companies such as Pullmantur, MSC and Costa. When I go away I like the European flavours and like to be immersed in the culture of the continentals. I appreciate the European cruise companies are not for everyone but if you are looking for a different type of cruise where English is not always the first language I could highly recommend it. I still love selling cruises and I enjoy customers who I can have some banter with. Love a laugh and joke and you will get plenty of them. (Most of them have been pinched off Ian). As one of the grand daddies of the company love speaking to the more distinguished clientele that we have. I look forward to being of service to you.

i, I am Greg and since day dot have always been a bookmaker and was with the same company for 31 years. I started making the tea and graduated all through the ranks to where I ran a chain of shops. After taking early retirement I was head hunted by Channel 4’s racing pundit Barry Dennis to control operations for Barry’s Venture into the world of high street book making. I had full control of the shops from finding the premises obtaining the licenses to the profitability of the operation. After working for Barry for a couple of years I needed a change of direction. Kelvin informed me that he was working for new young dynamic company that was doing well and asked if I would like to join them as they had too many calls to handle.
I have now been here best part of 2 ½ years where I have been introduced into the world of cruising. The only thing I can say is I love it. I have now first hand experience of 7 ships and tried some of the biggest in Navigator of the Seas to some of the smallest in Pullmantur. All of them have their own characteristics and I try and find out what my guest wants and put them on the right ship for them. One of the main reasons I love cruising is it is value. In effect it is an all inclusive holiday, some amazing ports of call and with plummeting of sterling it now is representing even better value for money. Again like Kelvin I think I have a good sense of humour and look forward to being of service to you.

Cruise Industry News Here is our latest roundup of cruise articles to hit our desk. STOP PRESS: Having monitored prices throughout January - most cruise lines have been under pressure from their US Based head offices to increase prices due to the exchange rate fluctuations. This means that as the Sterling is worth less in US Dollars - Prices have increased in Sterling to maintain the amount of US$ sterling prices are converted into.
Cruise holidays on the increase in 2009 RCI Oasis of the Seas
Despite the economic turn down it is predicted that the number of people taking cruises in 2009 will rise to 13.5 million, an increase of 2.3 percent on 2008. Sparked by new ships, ports and destinations as well as innovative on board activities, and a deep rooted popularity for cruising, cruise holidays will continue to offer incredible value across the entire spectrum of cruise holidays, in all price categories. Terry L. Dale, Cruise Lines International Association’s president and CEO commented: “The remarkable diversity and variety of cruises give consumers a unique opportunity to find a vacation that fits their budget even during these economic downturns and we expect that North Americans, Europeans and travellers from all over the world will respond positively.”
The coming year will see continued diversification and global expansion of cruise operations. While the Caribbean, Alaska and Europe remain the dominant markets, many cruise lines have announced plans to increase their presence in other parts of the world, including Asia, Canada/New England, the Indian Ocean and Africa, the Amazon and Brazil, the Middle East and the Arctic regions, including Newfoundland and Greenland. There will also be 14 new ships launching in 2009, including Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas, MSC Cruises Splendida and Celebrity Cruises Celebrity Equinox.
“The remarkable diversity and variety of cruises give consumers a unique opportunity to find a vacation that fits their budget even during these economic downturns and we expect that North Americans, Europeans and travellers from all over the world will respond positively.”
Holland America scoop restaurant award Holland America Line was very pleased to win a prestigious award for their Pinnacle Grill restaurant. The restaurant was honoured at the Porthole Magazine’s 2009 Editor-in-Chief Awards, winning the best alternative restaurant category. The Pinnacle Grill offers an elegant and sophisticated dining experience, with Bvlgari china, Riedel stemware and Frette linens. There are creative and innovative menus drawing from regional ingredients of the highest quality that will delight the palate. Indulge in hand selected aged Sterling Silver Beef, fresh seafood and an extensive, world-class wine list. Richard D Meadows, the cruise line’s vice president of marketing, sales and guest programmes, said it was an honour to be recognised by the magazine. “Although there are many alternative restaurants today, we have continued to ensure the quality of the Pinnacle Grill’s dining experience stands out,” he added. Commenting on the restaurant, magazine editor Bill Panoff said the restaurant offered a level of sophistication that was “unmatched” anywhere on the seven seas.

Norwegian Cruise Line launches new online check-in procedure Norwegian Cruise Line are looking to change the way guests are currently checked in with the launch of a new online check– in system that enables guests to board with ease. The new ‘My NCL’ portal will also allow guests to update their details and track pre– cruise activity. “By checking in online with My NCL, guests will speed up the boarding process allowing them to start enjoying their Freestyle cruising vacation sooner,” said Vivian Ewart, the cruise line’s vice president of passenger services. “Travel partners will find My NCL especially helpful in ensuring a seamless process from the moment a guest books to the minute they begin enjoying their vacation,” she added. Guests cruising with Norwegian Cruise Line will be able to log onto their reservation up to 24 hours prior to departure. The system will also help guests to determine which documents are needed for travel, reducing the chance of any problems during the boarding process. It is also possible for guests to access copies of their itineraries.

C R U I S E L I N E I N T E RVIEW
An interview with Jo Rzymowska Associate Vice President UK and Ireland Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Cruises. Royal Caribbean has grown massively in the UK in the last few years what do you put this down to? The growth of Royal Caribbean International has been down to several factors. Firstly, my colleagues in the UK office have worked hard to demonstrate to our head office counterparts that more ships closer to home is a great idea. This has made cruising with Royal Caribbean more accessible which means people telling their friends and family about the great holidays they have had onboard. Plus, the huge innovations that are onboard our ships really appeal to families and first time cruisers, as well as those who enjoy cruising for all its traditional features who are looking for something slightly different. A ship like Independence of the Seas which was based in Southampton in summer 2008, and returns by popular demand in summer 2009, gave holidaymakers surfing, ice skating and rock climbing all from a cruise. Such features surpass expectations and this is why so many of our cruisers come back for their next holiday, and bring their friends with them.
With all of the new ships coming in including the worlds largest Oasis of the Seas is the cruising sector risking being over saturated with capacity? At Royal Caribbean we certainly don’t believe this is the case. The new ships coming into the market all offer something different and appeal to different types of holidaymaker. That all means more people try cruising and fall in love with it.
Are there plans to bring an Oasis class of ship to Southampton? Currently, no, but my time working with Royal Caribbean International has taught me to never say never. Oasis of the Seas features some large outdoor areas such as Central Park and the AquaTheater. This certainly suits the Caribbean climate more than the UK. However, Oasis of the Seas is selling really well in the UK market and so we are really confident that it will be one of the most popular ships for Brits.
Royal Caribbean is known as the most innovative ships afloat, how are you going to push the boundaries with your next new ships? Who knows?! Our chairman Richard Fain describes each new ship in the fleet as one-third tradition, one-third evolution, and one-third innovation. This means you will always see favourite attractions and features, we will always look to enhance an existing popular feature - such as adding an extra rock climbing wall to Oasis of the Seas - and there will always be something that you never thought you would see on a ship such as an open air park. Personally I would jump at the chance to ski onboard a cruise ship. Never say never! Are there plans for a different class of ship after the Oasis class? At the moment we are really focused on Oasis of the Seas, and the sister ship Allure of the Seas that will follow in 2010 and so it is too early to look beyond that. I think there is plenty of excitement to keep me going for the next few years.
Why do you think Royal Caribbean offers value for money? Firstly, there is the quality of the ship, from the bedding you sleep in to the standard of the theatres onboard. Then add the sheer number of facilities – I have been onboard Independence of the Seas for a week and not tried everything there is to do, plus all of these activities – from ice skating to poolside ice creams – are all included in the price. When you work out the cost of a cruise per day, and that cost includes all meals, extensive kid’s club facilities, a work out in a first-class gym, a West End standard theatre show and much more, then the value really stacks up, particularly when compared against a land based holiday. Packing in as much as possible for every holiday pound spent is certainly where Royal Caribbean International performs very well.
How has Royal Caribbean changed to meet the demand of the UK cruise customer? Royal Caribbean International is a truly international brand with features onboard all our ships that appeal to a multitude of nationalities reflecting the mix of both our onboard crew and guests. Therefore changes to appeal to UK cruisers are minimal and we are proud of the appeal of our international approach. Areas such as entertainment also receive small changes and for the first season of Independence of the Seas being based from Southampton we had one of our best Cruise Directors running this side of things, who happened to be a Brit.

Just dropping you a line to say thank you very much for the great holiday we have just had on the QM2 for Christmas and New Year. Everything went to plan and we were amazed at the amount of guests you had onboard on this sailing. The other interesting thing was how quickly it got round the ship amongst the brits that you were by far and away the cheapest prices. Once again I would like to thank you and all of Jetline for this amazing holiday. I am looking to go back on again this Christmas so if you get any great prices please

Destination Focus The Nile, Egypt
To fully discover the ancient wonders of Egypt, Nile cruises are the perfect choice. The Nile River has been Egypt’s lifeline since ancient times and to see the real Egypt there is no better way than to follow the course of the Nile, tracing the course of Egypt’s history as you go. Nile cruises are also great for first time visitors to Egypt. Not only will you be able to visit all the fascinating attractions but you will also be travelling in luxurious style. A word of warning though, some of the ships advertised by cruise agencies are not always the five star affairs you are led to believe. Here at Jetline Cruise we only use two suppliers as we have found that cheap is not always best. African Safari Club is the largest tour operator into Africa and they operate two luxury Nile cruises, both of which are 5* and superb value for money. 8
031_JetlineTravel_28p_A4.indd 8
Egypt boasts some of the most spectacular sightseeing destinations in the world, many of which are located along the River Nile. Luxor is Egypt’s capital and has been called the world’s greatest outdoor museum as it is here that you will find many of Egypt’s most well known temples. The West Bank is where you will find the fascinating tombs of the Valley of the Queens and the Valley of the Kings, including that of Tutankhamun from which a wealth of ancient treasures was recovered.

Aswan is Egypt’s southernmost city and is larger but much quieter than Luxor. It is another firm favourite to visit on Nile Cruises and is small enough to walk around. The pace of life here is much slower and it is in Aswan that the Nile is at its most beautiful – wide, green and sprinkled with little islands decorated with palm groves and tropical plants. There are some great opportunities for exciting shore excursions if you are looking to do something a little more active than admiring the Nile with a glass of wine in your hand as you glide serenely by (although this does sound very appealing). Take an early morning hot air balloon flight over the West Bank; in the evening see the Sound and Light show at the Philae Temple; enjoy a trip on a horse-drawn carriage from the Old Cataract Hotel, where Agatha Christie wrote “Death on the Nile” in Aswan.

Should you wish to extend your stay in Egypt and relax even more, a further week long stay at one of many hotels in Luxor, Hurghada or Cairo can be arranged. Hurghada has developed into one of the largest Red Sea Resorts and is bustling with shops, bars and restaurants. Try the freshly caught fish served up in downtown Hurghada and in the evening a visit to the Marina is a must. Extend your stay in the bustling metropolis of Cairo with its modern high rise buildings and the 187m high Cairo Tower, from which you can admire panoramic views over the city. Take a stroll around the world famous Pyramids and Sphinx, Cairo’s awe-inspiring fortress and you will feel like you have stepped onto a Hollywood film set.

Confused
where to cruise?
MEDITERRANEAN editerranean cruises offer the most varied itineraries M out of any in the world. Med cruises have more ports of call in a standard cruise than those in other areas of the world. The Mediterranean is easily accessible cruising from the UK without the need to fly. Sail from Southampton to the Med for longer duration cruises Cruise different areas of the Med such as Western Mediterranean, Eastern Mediterranean, Greek Islands, the Aegean and the Adriatic. The Mediterranean can be great value for money with cheaper cruises departing from Mediterranean ports reached by low cost flights from a range of regional departure airports throughout the UK. Med cruises now depart year round visiting some great cities which are not dependent on hot weather, plus many ships have indoor pools to beat the cooler weather in the winter months but still enable you to get a suntan
CARIBBEAN Caribbean cruises offer a surprisingly cheaper alternative to the Mediterranean. The most prolific Caribbean cruises are 9 night fly cruise packages cruising from Florida ports of Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Port Canaveral to the Eastern Caribbean or the Western Caribbean. The most sought after Caribbean cruises for the British holiday maker are Southern Caribbean cruises which incorporate the big name islands such as Barbados, Antigua and St Lucia.

South Caribbean cruises tend to be more expensive than East or West Caribbean cruises as they generally depart from Puerto Rico with more expensive flight fares. However there are some promotional bargains to be had. Ask our sales team about our cruise and stay holidays for combination Caribbean cruises with either Las Vegas, Miami Beach, Orlando or Key West. Caribbean cruises operate year round with the best time to travel being between November to April
ALASKA laskan cruises generally operate between May to A September. Most people like to begin their Alaska cruise from Vancouver to combine a visit to this fabulous city with the rugged coastline Although cheaper alternatives are available from Seattle – which is also a great place to visit. Ask our experienced Alaska cruise experts about add on packages to the Rockies with coach tours or train tours on the Rocky Mountaineer. Add on packages starting from as little as £299pp. Our best selling cruises to Alaska are on the 5 star Celebrity Mercury with fine dining, spacious cabins, Atrium pool and an incredible spa. Always try to stretch you budget to either an oceanview cabin or one with a Balcony. Waking up to glaciers and incredible vistas or the chance to spot a surfacing whale are all part of the cruise.
NORTHERN EUROPE P opular cruise destinations are to the Baltic incorporating Scandinavia & Russia, Norwegian Fjords cruises and cruising the North Cape including Iceland. Northern Europe cruises are great for people who do not want to fly with ships cruising from Southampton, Dover and Harwich. North Europe cruises are ideal for the first time cruiser or for a weekend / short break with cruises ranging from 1 night up to 17 nights. Mini cruises usually incorporate ports of call such as Guernsey, Le Havre, Amsterdam, Zeebrugge (for Brussells), Vigo and Bilbao in Spain. These cruises usually sail between May to September, the low priced cruises in may sell out fast and the Summer school holiday departures usually have some late bargains closer to departure. Look out for some lower priced cruises which depart from Amsterdam or Copenhagen for cruising the Baltic and countries such as Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands.. Not only are these a great price but also present a more accessible option for people who can depart from regional airports in the South West, Midlands, North, Wales, Belfast and Scotland. When cruising St Petersburg in Russia it is necessary to obtain a visa before you travel if you want to get off the ship and do your own thing in St Petersburg. If you book one of the organised excursions offered by the cruise line they will organise the visa for you.

CANARIES anaries cruises are great in the Winter months for C reaching some hot weather and sunshine close at hand. There are a number of options to reach the Canary Islands – cruise from the UK, fly directly to the Canary Islands or fly to Barcelona or Genoa and combine your cruise with some Mediterranean ports of call. Canaries cruises operate throughout the year with the no fly cruises sailing between April to November on the big ships from Southampton and Dover. Many Canaries cruises incorporate a visit to Funchal in Madeira famous for the Madeira Wine and cake. Be sure to visit the botanical gardens, the fish and flower markets in the main square and take a thrilling wicker basket sleigh down the cobbled streets form the church at the top of the hill. Sometimes Canary Islands are incorporated into Transatlantic Cruises which ships reposition from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean in the Autumn or vice versa in the Spring.
TRANSATLANTIC T he most popular Transatlantic cruises are on the Cunard Queen Mary 2 which operates classic 6 night Voyages between Southampton and New York. Other Transatlantic cruises operate when ships reposition between the Caribbean and Mediterranean in the Spring and Autumn. Westbound Cruises to the USA usually incorporate 5 days at sea when each day is 25 hours long to make up for the time difference between the UK and the USA. On arrival into the US you are in tune with the local time and ready to enjoy the delights of you visit as soon as you step off the ship. Eastbound cruises are a great relief after your visit to the USA with the prospect to not having to endure a cramped and boring overnight flight, the lengthy check in / security procedures at the airport and a big plus is beat the jet lag. Contrary to popular belief – Transatlantic cruises are not boring. They offer the ideal opportunity for uninterrupted relaxation and a chance to truly enjoy all of the facilities the ship has to offer.

CANADA & NEW ENGLAND anada & New England cruises usually operate within C a very small cruising season between September to October when the foliage turns an incredible array of colours in the Autumn. Be sure to book early as they sell out fast, with oceanview and balcony cabins being the most popular. Many cruises depart from either New York, Boston or Quebec and offer the opportunity to combine a city break with your cruise. There are a limited number of no fly cruises to Canada & New England sailing from Southampton with Cunard on the Queen Mary 2 or with P&O these tend to be for 17 nights or more.
SOUTH AMERICA South American cruises usually operate in our winter months between Nov – March and offer the ideal alternative to Caribbean cruises for the seasoned cruiser. A number of cruises to South America are offered as part of a repositioning Transatlantic itinerary from the Mediterranean to Brazil, others are regular 14 night itineraries from Chile to Argentina around Cape Horn and from Argentina to Antarctica via the Falklands. Look out for full Circum-Navigation cruises from Florida via Brazil. Uruguay. Argentina, Cape Horn, Chilean Fjords and Peru to California or vice Versa. We also offer South America cruises combined with a full transit through the Panama Canal for a two holidays in one experience. There are specialist cruises from Ecuador to Galapagos Islands with some also incorporating Machu Picchu on Celebrity Xpeditions. Please call our sales team for these specialist itineraries.
FAR EAST Far East cruises are generally offered as a combination of short break cruises of 3 – 5 nights from either Singapore or Hong Kong. The other alternative is a loner duration of 11 nights plus as part of a continuous cruising tour of Asia by the ship These longer cruises tend to be more expensive as you would fly into one country and out of another. Most people opt for the shorter duration cruises as it enables them to do a cruise and stay holiday. Great value for money Far East & Asia cruises have been on the Royal Caribbean Rhapsody of the Seas in 2008, RCI Legend of the Seas in 2009 and the Azamara Quest in 2008 and 2009 through Celebrity cruises. Perhaps try a cruise with Princess cruises who also have a full and varied programme thoroughly cruising the Orient, Australasia and the Far East on the Sapphire Princess.
HAWAII Hawaii cruises are much more affordable and accessible these days with prices for a 16 night package starting from as little as £1099pp including flights Cruise the Hawaiian Islands either by flying to Los Angeles and cruise across the Pacific to Hawaii and Back. Or begin your cruise from Honolulu. NCL are the undisputed specialists for Hawaii cruising. Norwegian Cruise Lines well known for their Freestyle approach to cruising are the only company to have ships based in Honolulu on the island of Oahu. Combine your Hawaii cruise with a stay on Waikiki Beach or perhaps stopover in Los Angeles, San Francisco or even a Las Vegas add on.

the Planetarium watch a feature film being screened there. Watch the world go by in the Palm Court over a civilised pot of tea or decide how much or how little you want to work out in the fitness centre. By the end of your voyage you will wonder where the time has gone and will be reluctant to disembark. Arriving and departing from New York is absolute fun and a highlight of the cruise.
… And now what we really think: Enough of the brochure speak. Having cruised on the Queen Mary 2 several times – this ship is one of our favourites. Here are the myths – exploded : Myth: Older snobs
Myth: Too formal
hot dogs, sandwiches and wraps. These areas have tea and coffee on tap 24 hours per day. In the evening however 3 out of the four restaurants are converted to waiter service on a rotational basis whilst one remains as self service buffet style. For the waiter service ones you have to make reservations and there is no extra charge for this. We particularly recommend these restaurants in the evening if you are looking for an alternative to the main restaurant assigned to your cabin reservation – the menus are impressive and the service superb. The Chefs Galley features French, Indian and Thai themes on different nights.
It is no more so than any other cruise ship – in fact you can get away without having to wear a suit on board. They do have dress codes for the main restaurant in the evening which varies from smart casual (jacket), semi formal (Jacket & Tie) and formal (suit & tie). If you do not want to participate simply eat in one of the fabulous Kings Court venues.
Other dining options include: The Golden Lion pub for traditional pub lunches such as ploughman’s, curry, fish and chips. The Boardwalk café on the top deck for buffet style alfresco dining– incredible burgers and hot dogs. Finally the Todd English restaurant where reservations are required for evening dining at a charge of approx $30 pp.
Myth: Segregated dining
Myth: Transatlantic crossings are boring
Lots of people think Cunard and the Queen Mary 2 will be full of older snobs. On my first cruise it was pleasant surprise to find this was untrue. In fact (at the age of 41) I met lots of like minded people on board and made some good friends. Holidays on the Queen Mary 2 are not as expensive as many think they are – just take a look at some of the fabulous deals we have negotiated for you. As a result there is a greater mix of people and age ranges on board.
If you book a Princess suite – the main restaurant assigned is the Princess Grill which has open dining. If you book a Queens Grill suite – the main restaurant assigned is the Queens Grill – which also has open dining. Everyone else booking anything from interior staterooms to high grade balcony staterooms is assigned to the Britannia restaurant which has 2 sittings. Having sampled the cuisine in the Queens grill I could not detect a difference to the food served in the Britannia restaurant. There is a larger menu and a more personalised service like flambé and filleting skills at your table side. There are a number of other dining options throughout the ship which everyone can go to. With so many dining choices available the main restaurant assigned to your cabin is not one you would want to visit every night. The Kings Court has four distinct and separate areas which are buffet style throughout breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea.. The Lotus features Asian fusion food. The Carvery features Traditional British food including a roast every day. La Piazza serves a taste range of Italian dishes including pasta and Pizza, The Chefs Galley features food cooked to order such as burgers,

On my first Transatlantic crossing I armed myself with 3 books to read during the 6 night cruise from Southampton to New York thinking I would be utterly bored. The opposite was the case and have since done another Transatlantic cruise. I would happily do another one again as these are the best cruises I have been on. A Transatlantic crossing is not a cruise but a voyage. It is more of an occasion than a journey – rather like a birthday is an occasion. This is the ultimate chance to relax – escape your mobile phone and your laptop, enjoy pampered luxury and self appreciation without the interruption of ports of call.
On a West bound cruise from Southampton to New York it is a pleasure to board in Southampton and start your experience immediately without having to go through lengthy check in and security procedures at the airport then waiting around in the lounges before boarding your flight to the US. Your 5 days at sea are 25 hours long to make up for the time difference between the UK and the USA. Everyone gets up at 5 in the morning on the last day to watch the Statue of Liberty glide pass as the sun rises behind the picturesque Manhattan skyline. On arrival at Brooklyn (only 20 minutes by taxi to Manhattan) you are in tune with US time and ready to enjoy a full day shopping, enjoying the sights and nightlife this city has to offer. On an East Bound cruise from New York to Southampton and after a frantic time fitting all of the shopping and sightseeing in – it is an utter relief to board the Queen Mary 2. Throughout your time in New York there is great realisation in the fact that you have not got to endure the laborious check in and security procedures at the airport then a cramped and impatient overnight flight back to the UK. Everyone joins in the sailaway party in the afternoon celebrating the farewell to New York and the ultimate landmark sailing under the bridge as the ships horn blows for a final goodbye to the continental USA. Each day on board your clocks are adjusted by an hour so that you arrive in Southampton in tune with UK time – with no jet lag!
All in all a cruise on the Queen Mary 2 is a memorable experience more for the quality of your time on board and the relaxation … rather than the ports of call and the activities there are to do.
Your days are taken up deciding on where to eat, plotting your progress across the ocean, wallowing in the atrium pool on the top deck or relaxing in the many areas of the Canyon Ranch Spa. The thalasso therapy pool and relaxation lounge are our favourites. Perhaps having a read in the well stocked library or quiet contemplation in the Commodore Club over a cocktail or coffee on deck 9 at the front! Go star gazing in the planetarium or take in a lecture from one of the guest speakers on board. When the stars are not out in

UK-ICELAND-NEW YORK
We have held off until now to promote Canada & New England cruises. These are a specialist itinerary with a very short window of opportunity to cruise during the Autumn months. A two holidays in one type cruise such as this combining the breathtaking colours of the New England coastline and the shopping and delights of New York – it is no wonder that these tend to sell out very quickly and are quite pricey compared to similar duration cruises to the other parts of the world.
We were even more enthused when we found the same ship was also completing another very sought after Trans Atlantic crossing from Dover via Iceland to New York. A great way to journey across the Atlantic avoiding the flying plus taking in ports of call on the way. Plus $150 per cabin on board credit.
We feel we have come up trumps with this offer at such a low price plus upto $100 per cabin on board credit. Fly to New York for overnight hotel stay.
