THE IMAGIne INTERNATIONAL FINAL MEET THE FINALISTS

The Movers Afrofusion from Malawi Blending traditional African rhythms with catchy grooves, playful bass lines and wild dances, these guys are set to instantly make any crowd move. Coming all the way from Malawi, they’re ready to bring the heat, energy and enthusiasm on the stage of the International Final of the Imagine Festival.

Triopated Jazz from Belgium Put these three guys anywhere, give them instruments and they will play for hours! This is how Triopated came to life, somewhere on the Belgian countryside where they met last year. They are the guys that play until late and then wake up early to continue playing! Their original, improvised, jazz fusion vibes reflect well their passion for music which is infectious!

The CRO TRIO Easy Listening from Croatia At only 14 years old, Mirta’s wondrous vocal talents have impressed audiences all over Europe and brought her many distinctions. After meeting Luka and Zoran who were studying at the same school, they formed the Cro Trio and after playing some local gigs, enrolled at Imagine Croatia where they won the National Finals with ease! You’ll be mesmerized by their acoustic melodies and Mirta’s lovely voice.

Resirkulert Indie Rock from Norway The young band comes from the far north and is infamous for switching instruments both during and between songs while they’re playing! Their music is an energetic mix of indie, punk and pop rock with a twist of psychedelic and plenty of unexpected surprises!

THE IMAGIne INTERNATIONAL FINAL MEET THE FINALISTS

DANIEL Eliasson Solo Accordion from Sweden Daniel began playing at the early age of four after his family gave him a record with accordion music. At the age of nine he moved to Moscow to study music theory and became an accordion virtuoso. Since then, he has won a number of awards and fellowships around the world as well as the Imagine Sweden’s National Finals where he was chosen the best out of 2000 young musicians!

PLEASURE PROJECT FUSION Jazz from Slovenia From classical music to heavy metal, all wrapped up in a manouche jazz musical fusion, these three Slovenians sure like to experiment! It’s all about the pleasure of music, so make sure not to miss their performance which is set to take you on a ride through different musical styles and moods!

LES 100 Fausses NOTES Funk from France If you add some jazz groove, a bunch of funk and some really peculiar lyrics you’ll get a French quintet that sounds nothing like the name: The 100 False Notes! These guys will charm you with their style, their grooves and moves, as they did at the Imagine France National Finals!

WERE Tribal Traditions from Zimbabwe WERE, pronounced ‘weh-reh’ in Shona, comes from ‘mawere’, which means ascending – a mountain or in life. They may look fierce but their unique musical fusion will start the dance! They blend tribal melodies with heavy percussive rhythms that use both modern and traditional instruments and add strong vocals to create an energetic performance that will make anything close resonate!

THE IMAGInE InTERnATIOnAL FInAL MEET THE FINALISTS

Wilder Metal from Romania These guys sound like a bunch of Tasmanian devils that play metal. They stormed their way through the Imagine Romania National Finals where they rocked over 5000 people with their rougher than sandpaper riffs, straight drums and shifting vocals, get ready to be swept away!

GUESTS

GusTaF Singer-Songerwriter from Sweden At only 21 years old, Gustaf from Sweden showcases versatility, talent and a musical maturity that’s even scary! After a diverse array of musical experiences, ranging from heavy metal to Jewish Klezmer, jazz to funk and acoustic, he conquered both the jury and the public at the Imagine Festival 2012 International Finals in Romania with only a guitar and his voice. Since then he’s been busy recording his debut album a part of his Imagine prize and is gigging in Belgium, Romania, Sweden and now Norway to promote it on his winning tour!

hviTMalT GJerde Surf Rock from Norway Hvitmalt Gjerde (meaning White Painted Fence) is a Bergenbased band inspired by 60s surfpop and garagerock with lyrics sung in the Bergen dialect of Norwegian. The four boys from the urban area of Minde have played together for a long time and have accumulated a fanbase in Norway due to their energetic live shows.

ABOUT Imagine imagine is a series of music competitions for young, fresh talent that is open to all styles of music. Pop bands compete with metal bands, electro versus rock, jazz versus hip hop, classical versus ska, world versus punk, anything goes! imagine inspires young people, both onstage and offstage to reach their full potential, creating independent people through independent music. Imagine is today one of the most unique and positive platforms for young musicians to develop themselves and their music.

Imagine is a PROGRAM of Jeunesses Musicales international (JMi), the largest youth music NGO in the world, created in Brussels (Belgium) in 1945 with the mission to “enable young people to develop through music across all boundaries”. JMI is a global network providing opportunities for young people to engage with music. The JMI network reaches over 5 million young people aged 13-30 per year through some 36,000 activities, which embrace all styles of music, and coordinates cross-border exchange opportunities on the international level.
