Who is Aribombari

Ariane Nijssen is a Dutch/Australian paper cut collage artist who lives in Perth, Western Australia. She creates bright, vibrant art using hand-printed paper. Ariane has been building up her portfolio of design for the past few years and now she’s ready to burst onto the scene, ready to take on the world.

Paper Cut

Ariane’s most important tool is a pair of scissors.

Her joy in creating with paper is evident in the mini-collages she snips together from an assortment of (recycled) paper she colours first by printing them on a gel plate.

By using a host of print making techniques she gives extra depth and a sense of imperfection to the papers.

Handmade

Every element of her collage art exists as a separate piece of paper.

Ariane scans these pieces and brings them together in layered Photoshop files. Each piece has it’s own layer in her artwork files, providing maximum flexibility.

New/Fresh

Ari’s work hasn’t been widely available up to now.

There are many pieces available for licensing.

Her inspiration comes from everyday life and the things that give her joy, such as nature’s beauty, bright colours and the people she meets.

The exuberant colours and the simple ‘no worries’ style give Aribombari’s designs an optimistic appearance and a wide appeal.

About Ariane

Hello, I’m Ariane.

I grew up in the Netherlands but I have called Australia home for the past 25 years.

I have always loved paper as a material – as a means to communicate ideas and information - but also as an accessible and honest material to create fun objects and collages.

Aribombari is my second go at a career. I have a degree in Business Administration and I worked for 25+ years in Marketing Communications. This experience helps me understand what is involved in bringing a product to market and how to best communicate with target audiences.

I live with my husband Steve, our youngest son Cooper and fluffy cat Dot in a cottage close to the beach.

Gelprinting Fun

To make the papers I use in my collages, I use a gel plate. I love the experimental nature of this medium.

By using different types of (recycled) paper and by using all kinds of markmaking techniques, every print is different. It’s often hard to know when to stop!

After a printing session I end up with a stack of coloured prints. The interesting, textured, bits of the prints make it into my collages.
