Protest at MIA Against Qatar’s Harboring Hamas Leaders Miami, FL– In response to Qatar’s support and financing of Hamas, concerned citizens will gather for a peaceful protest near Qatar Airways at Miami International Airport, center of the airport near flags, on Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. The aim is to raise awareness about the immoral actions by the Qatari government and advocate for a reevaluation of US-Qatari relations. Organizers assert that the government of Qatar is complicit in harboring Hamas leadership and financing Hamas, an organization designated as a terrorist group by the United States and other countries. The protest seeks to shed light on this connection and demand that Qatar turn over these war criminals to face justice for their role in the October 7th massacre of 1200 innocent Israelis and the kidnapping of 240 hostages from over 40 nations. “We believe it is crucial to shed light on Qatar’s involvement with P 1 4 / T S F C O M M U N I T YVO I C E . C O M
Hamas and the repercussions of their sponsorship of terrorists,” said Amir Tal, one of the protest organizers. “Our goal is to urge the US government to address these concerns and reassess their diplomatic and military ties with Qatar, as the US maintains the Middle East’s largest military base in Qatar.” Hamas’ three top leaders, Ismail Haniyeh, Mousa Abu Marzook, and Khaled Mashal, have a net worth of a stunning $11 billion. While Gazans live in poverty, the leadership and their families live the high life in the sanctuary of Doha, Qatar. Qatar provides Hamas with between $120 million and $480 million per year, according to the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD). They reported, “These funds benefit Hamas leaders directly through payroll and kickback schemes and indirectly through social services and government operations that help Hamas maintain political control over Gaza.”
Hamas also received nearly $400 million in the last two years from the United Nations, which does not recognize Hamas as a terrorist organization. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has provided Hamas with $380 million since 2021, according to the FDD. $1 billion was transferred to UNRWA by the Biden administration since 2021. The US State Department estimates that Iran supplies up to $100 million a year to Palestinian groups. Hamas earns an estimated $450 million annually from Gaza’s black market trade. Qatar also gives voice to Hamas’ propaganda and incitement to violence through Al-Jazeera, the government owned and controlled network, spread through 150 countries. The demonstration is planned to be peaceful, with participants expressing their opinions through speech and signs.

As a son of a Holocaust survivor and a prisoner of Stalin’s communist regime, Natan chose to celebrate life and the gifts it brings and portray it in his art. Embedded in his art is a genuine appreciation for humanity. Identifying as a humanist, Natan seeks to emphasize and explore the beauty in humanity, together with the elements of love, nostalgia, longing, appreciation, honor and gratitude. Where and How to See Manatees in Florida By Kevin Mims
Manatees roam the waters of Florida from April through October -- but when things get a bit chilly, they head to places like freshwater Florida Springs, where the temperatures remain constant throughout the year. It may not seem warm when you jump into a freshwater spring, but the water temperatures remain around 70 degrees, which is perfect for manatees in Florida who need Crystal River Manatees that kind of warmth to survive. Ready to see some manatees the manatees. Bring your camera in Florida? Here are several great because there are great pictures to be places to check out: taken and memories to be made. Three Sisters Springs Crystal River If you haven’t been to Three Sisters Springs, you’re missing out. It’s a year-round favorite of mine, and in the winter, manatees come in huge numbers. Kayak or take a boat tour to the springs. I’ve counted more than 100 manatees in the area at one time. With a concentration of Florida manatees like this, you can imagine that there’s also a large concentration of people. Remember, be respectful and observe from a distance. Just down the road in Homosassa Springs, it’s a little less crowded, with a number of tours, including Blue Heaven River Tours, to get you up close to the charming sea cows. Blue Spring State Park, Orange City Blue Spring State Park gets my vote for the best “no boat needed” manatee viewing location. During manatee season, the spring run is closed -but there are several overlooks and boardwalks along the way. Make a day of exploring the park and watching P 2 0 / T S F C O M M U N I T YVO I C E . TECO Manatee Viewing Center Apollo Beach Tampa Electric’s Manatee Viewing Center is a designated manatee sanctuary to which large numbers of manatees in Florida return annually to the warm discharge waters of the Big Bend Power Station. Viewing platforms, tidal walkways, and an environmental education center are located at this 50-acre facility. Lee County Manatee Park Fort Myers Located across from Florida Power and Light and directly on the warm water discharge canal, Manatee Park is another wintertime haven where large concentrations of Florida manatees can be seen. Several viewing areas, a butterfly garden, and picnic shelters are available. Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Titusville The Haulover Canal connects Mosquito Lagoon and the Indian
River, and on the east side of the bridge is a manatee observation area. Viewing platforms, interpretive signs, a boat ramp, and a polarized viewer are located at the observation area. Manatee Lagoon – An FPL Eco-Discovery Center®, Riviera Beach Manatee Lagoon is a free Palm Beach County educational attraction with a dedicated area for viewing manatees up close. The waterfront center features engaging, hands-on exhibits for visitors to learn all about these threatened and unique gentle giants as well as the natural wonders of the surrounding Lake Worth Lagoon. On cold winter days, the facility’s observation deck is the ideal spot to view manatee herds basking in the warm-water outflows from Florida Power & Light Company’s adjacent Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center. The Boat Basin at The Deering Estate, Miami The boat basin fronting the Deering Estate on Biscayne Bay is a great place in Miami to see manatees. The supply of fresh water combined with the calm nature of the bay allow manatees to congregate and mate here. You may also see sea sharks, turtles, rays, and even dolphins. But take looks only the marine life in the waters here are fragile so no watercraft of any kind are allowed.

Broward Art Curator Organizes Special Fundraiser
A diverse group of Broward County artists and international artists donated 100% of all art sale proceeds in a second round of funding on November 29th to those affected by the Hamas and Israel war. The event took place at the Shuk located at 910 East Broward Blvd, Fort Lauderdale Fl 33301 (www.BittonArt.com/ artgallery), and is a project of BittonArt and Downtown Jewish Center Chabad, a not-for-profit organization 501c3 that can testify first-hand how nonprofits are making a big difference throughout the dire situation Israel is now facing. In almost two months, Israel has been dealing with everything from pertinent equipment shortages to mental health and medical emergencies. The fund-raiser is called “Be The Light Part 2”, the brainchild of Fort Lauderdale artist Chen H. Bitton. As her project evolved, raising thousands composed of fully donated Artworks, Bitton decided to P 2 4 / T S F C O M M U N I T YVO I C E . C O M

Haena selected a few speakers which will update the community on current events in Israel and educate the community on the ground efforts made by various non for profit organizations she has chosen to highlight. ‘Be The Light’ art Exhibit will ignite and empower others to make a greater impact in these challenging times since October 7th.,” Bitton says, “and perhaps shine the light on the good actions rather than the negative in and around the world. So making a difference through art, in times like these, can be a beacon of light in a world that’s suddenly turned a little darker.” Be the Light: A Global Art Exhibition for Israel” invites the community to find solace and strength in artistic expression. Through paintings, sculptures, and multimedia installations, artists share their emotions, fostering a collective narrative that transcends borders.
Chen Bitton is a self-taught artist. She uses acrylic media and abstract art to express her feelings, in free-flowing images which often take second- and third looks to discern. Her own work is on display at her curated popup art exhibits throughout Broward County Fort Lauderdale where she resides, she says, “nature, nurture and play always meet artistic exploration.” “When art transcends beyond one wall, and into another, as it forges human connection and ignites past emotions and memories, perhaps it then touches upon a reality, current or past event catching you in “A Frame.” Chen Bitton says, “Then, I’ve achieved my all encompassing artistic goal.” Haena Chen Bitton Art Curator Artist Office: 786-247-1702 bittonartcurator@gmail.com www.bittonart.com

Flexibity Get the Inside Scoop By Dr. Ezra Miller
So often do people express difficulty in movements they used to find easy. In fact, between the ages of 20 and 49, a gradual decline in flexibility occurs, decreasing by approximately 10% per decade. This decline significantly affects joint mobility and daily movements, often leading to discomfort and restricted activities. However, this limitation and discomfort is not necessarily a necessary component to aging. By committing to a consistent stretching routine, we can positively impact flexibility and alleviate these common discomforts. Two critical factors limit a muscle’s ability to stretch: “muscle spindles” within muscle fibers and “golgi tendon organs” in muscle tendons. While muscle spindles monitor stretch to prevent injury by restricting length, golgi tendon organs limit exposure to heavy loads. As we age, we tend to move and lift less, causing our muscles to adapt to a reduced range necessary for everyday activities. However, this adaptation can ultimately limit movement and strain joints. P 2 8 / T S F C O M M U N I T YVO I C E . C O M
Establishing a dedicated flexibility regimen can notably enhance overall function and ease discomfort. Various stretching techniques exist, including static, dynamic, and ballistic stretching. While each has benefits, static stretching shows promising results in enhancing flexibility. Research suggests that holding a static stretch for 30 to 90 seconds, repeating it at least three times per muscle group and ideally performing it four to five times per week, can maximize gains in range of motion and flexibility. In fact, one study even demonstrated an astounding 20% increase in flexibility with a consistent five-day weekly stretching routine over the course of six weeks. The mechanism behind this improvement lies in our body’s ability to adjust its perception of muscle length, prompting muscle spindles to adapt their tension. Additionally, this method can be used to help resolve most types of spasms (chronically contracted muscles. Along
with other techniques, gently holding a spasmed muscle in a stretched position for at least 30 seconds can greatly improve symptoms. This mechanism behind stretching not only enhances flexibility but can also contribute to reducing inflammation. Some studies even suggest potential benefits for the immune system and a lowered risk of certain illnesses, such as cancer. The act of stretching and relaxation offers a simple, yet powerful method to enrich our lives. By fostering flexibility, easing movements, mitigating discomfort, and even reducing inflammation, integrating daily stretching into our routine proves to be an effective tool for enhancing overall well-being and quality of life. BUSINESS
Stop The Excuses By Shalom Markman
Sales is nothing more than problem solving. Some say you ought to create the problem. Either way, I got contacted with a BIG problem recently. A small business had been tearing out their hair in frustration with no solution in sight. I somehow found myself in the middle of their mess. I’m happy I did. This particular company ran their business through an online e-commerce platform, Shopify. If you’ve shopped online recently, chances are, you’ve visited an online Shopify store. If you’ve started an online marketplace recently, you’ve probably looked into Shopify as your e-commerce provider. This particular business’s online customer payment ability was promptly redacted one day by Shopify based on some detected risk factors. Anyone shopping online at this site wouldn’t have been able to put through an order. I myself personally received an error recently when checking out online for a couple of shirts and just went on to the next thing in my life. So, this company was pulling out P4 0 / T S F C O M M U N I T YVO I C E .C O M
their hair, and totally warranted. While I got their business back up and running with Shopify thru another integrated checkout method, I’d like to discuss how I became a successful solution for them in the first place. I said “boo” to them a few months back. Really. I created a small introduction six months prior and let them know what I’m about. My value likely wasn’t appreciated. Yes, we had a polite correspondence over WhatsApp, but so what? There had been no need on their end for me. I didn’t push anything further on my end either. Maybe I should have? Maybe I shouldn’t have? But I still made myself available for any pro bono consultations should the need arise. Now, let’s assume I called them one day out of the blue to follow up. Say it was a day prior to their Shopify issue. It was a simple call to actively put myself in-front of them again. I’m going to bashfully assume that we would have chatted for a few minutes but not much more. And totally warranted. There was no problem yet.
To be good at sales is to problem solve. Selling is just that. No gimmicks. Our mindset is crucial for staying in the game and be that individual at the right moment. It might be a long-term relationship before we get to offer our value on that rainy day. This frantic call begging for my assistance to help get their payments back online, was because I had taken step number one. The onus was on me. I had said, “boo”. Keeping the relationship alive if they hadn’t reached out would have been just as important. It takes a lot of work and patients. With the proper work ethic however, you’ll be inundated with opportunities to help problem solve for. It starts with appreciating your solution and then getting in-front of people even more than once. Shalom Markman started selling merchant services by door knocking in NYC. He currently lives in Norfolk VA with his family and visits Florida when he gets hungry or brings on a new client. You can find him on LinkedIn.

REAL ESTATE
Reaping What You Sow By Shmuel Shayowitz
By now, many of you have seen the viral clips of the US cowboys who traveled to Israel to help farmers harvest their crops. While the images became famous for their uniqueness, the reality is quite literal. Israeli farms are in danger of having their crops and produce ruined due to the lack of laborers - as many have joined the IDF or fled the country. As I write this article, I am in Israel and came here with the same thoughts as many - “to help out any way I can.” Little did I think that I, too, would end up on a farm volunteering to offer my services. After our 50-mile car ride, we reached the farm and saw rows upon rows of vibrant green plants stretched out for miles, each laden with budding produce. The owner was overwhelmed with appreciation as he described his circumstances, needing extra hands to help save his crop for the year. Farming is meticulous work that demands precise attention and effort. I was assigned to pull weeds out of the ground that were impacting the growth of the strawberries. The weeds had to be carefully plucked to avoid damaging the delicate strawberry plants. The work was physically demanding; It required care and persistence to work through the rows, bending down and reaching out to ensure no infectious weed was left behind. Little did I know that this experience would not only give me a newfound appreciation for the hard work that goes P4 4 / T S F C O M M U N I T YVO I C E .C O M
into farming, but also reiterate a valuable life lesson: the principle of “You Reap What You Sow.” In farming, the effort you put into cultivating and caring for the crops directly impacts the quality and quantity of the harvest. The more time and care you invest, the better the rewards. This principle applies not only to agriculture but also to life in general. The effort you invest in your goals and aspirations is directly proportional to the results you achieve. Farmers understand that success in agriculture requires more than just basic effort; it demands ongoing commitment. Crops must be tended to regularly, protected from pests, and nurtured through changing seasons. Another striking aspect of working on the farm was the concept of delayed gratification. The process from planting the seeds to harvesting the ripe fruit takes time and patience. It can be months before you see the results of your labor. Similarly, in life, achieving our goals often involves overcoming obstacles and persevering through difficulties. The principle of “You Reap What You Sow” reminds us that we must stay dedicated to our endeavors and not be discouraged by setbacks. So to, creating a financially successful environment takes strategic toil and tactics. In our fast-paced world, we often seek instant gratification and quick fixes.
However, the farm reminded me that some of life’s most valuable rewards come from those willing to invest time and patience into their pursuits. Our goals and dreams may require considerable diligence and hard work before they come to fruition. In Tehillim 126:5, we read, “Those who sow tearfully, with glad song, will reap.” As we navigate the journey of life, let us remember that the sweetest rewards often come to those who put in the bitter work to sow the seeds of effort and nurture them with unwavering commitment.

FOOD
The Kosher Foodie Sunshine State Kosher By Judy Waldman
The first article in the Kosher Foodie Series explained the kosher supervising services that make our restaurants kosher. The Kosher Foodie introduced the ORB, The Orthodox Rabbinical Board of Broward and Palm Beach Counties, which is the largest supervising agency in Florida. We will now introduce you to Sunshine State Kosher, the newest of the “big three” Florida kashruth agencies. Sunshine State Kosher, also known as the Vaad HaKashruth of Florida, Inc. was founded in 2018 by Rabbi Moshe Berger and Rabbi Allen Saks. Together they bring seventy years of kashruth expertise to Sunshine State Kosher. But as if that’s not impressive enough, the Rabbinic Board consists of great Rabbonim such as Rabbi Zev Saunders, Rabbi Noach Peled, and Rabbi Avi Billet. For the ultimate in determining halachic rulings, Sunshine State Kosher is proud to rely upon Rabbi Yitzchak Salid, Shlit”a as their Posek. Sunshine State Kosher services MiamiDade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties in providing supervision to restaurants, two caterers, numerous snack-food shops, a bakery, and a food additives importer. P4 8 / T S F C O M M U N I T YVO I C E . C O M
Additionally, Sunshine State Kosher offers home koshering (think newly kosher or Pesach!). The kosher supervision at snack food stores and other non-catering facilities is not as labor intensive as supervising a restaurant in that each has its own “Schedule A” document, which is an Approved Ingredient List. The supervision is a very exacting process but does not require a full-time mashgiach on premises. Nonetheless, all Sunshine State Kosher mashgichim must pass the AKO Mashgiach Course, under the auspices of the KIA (Kosher Institute of America). After completing the course, the mashgichim are given a practicum, a handson training period, and on-going education by the rabbis. Sunshine State Kosher prides itself on its philosophies for treating the store owners, employees, and the mashgichim with respectful consideration and with transparency. While the business aspect might be as a regulatory agency, they consider themselves in a partnership with the principals and pride themselves on the personal attention and immediate response they give to each client.
Another source of pride is Sunshine State Kosher’s affiliation with the cRc, the Chicago Rabbinical Council. The cRc ‘s “recommended list” is the gold standard of kashruth certification in Florida and is considered sacrosanct. Being on the cRc’s recommended list assures the consumer that Sunshine State Kosher’s level of kashruth and supervision is substantiated and respected. Sunshine State Kosher has an educational department that offers practical, hands-on programs and training in schools, shuls, and other Jewish organizations. Educating the Jewish consumer is one of their goals in itself, but Sunshine State Kosher is looking to help each Yid raise their spirituality by eating kosher. Heading out for a tasty snack to elevate my spirituality and put a little “Sunshine” in my day.
