Soup Project Gala

Esther Shayna Blumbergin interviewed Sarah Grazi Head of School at Binas Halev High School about their new student-led chesed initiative to care for those in their community who need more love and support.

ESB: Can you tell us about The Great Soup Project and how the idea for it came about?

SG: We did one of those brainstorming sessions where one person says something and it bounces around from person to person until we had our idea. The soup project was us saying, “Let’s make soup! It’s fun, it’s easy, and we could get some really great cooks from around the community to join in.”.

Then the question was, “Why soup?”. That’s an easy answer, we chose soup because it is easily transportable and there are so many different culturally authentic and family nostalgic recipes to explore. In the end we solidified this idea of making homemade soup and personally delivering it to community members who are elderly or sick and just need a little boost or friendly company.

ESB: How did the idea of hosting a teen-created art gala to raise money for The Great Soup Project come about?

SG: We wanted to come up with a creative and engaging way to raise funds for The Great Soup Project while also

showcasing the talents of our peers. Hosting a teen-created art gala seemed like the perfect solution. It provided a platform for young artists to exhibit their work while also allowing us to engage with our community and raise awareness about the project. Plus, it created a vibrant and energetic atmosphere that encouraged people to come together and support a worthy cause.

ESB: Can you share some highlights from the art gala and how it contributed to the success of The Great Soup Project?

SG: The art gala was a tremendous success. We were overwhelmed by the creativity

of our local teens, and the artwork generated a lot of buzz and excitement among attendees. The gala also provided an opportunity for us to share information about our next non- profit initiative, The Great Soup Project. Donations from the event will go to help push the project further.

ESB: I noticed at the event you honored some Binas Halev staff members as well, could you share some insights into why you selected these esteemed faculty members?

SG: The soup project is all about carrying the burden of our community and neighbors, which is so vital to our school culture. These two men have taken on the task of helping our students rise to greatness and pursue Torah and chesed in and outside of the classroom. This year we honored the work of Dr. Botwinick who is not only a dedicated American History teacher but also a valued administrative consultant who goes above and beyond to ensure the success and growth of our institution. Rabbi Sachi Rubin, our Chumash teacher, has a remarkable ability to connect with each student on a personal level and make the lessons come alive in a fun and engaging way. These men are true examples of Baalei Chesed and have become remarkable role models for our students to look to for guidance.

THE THRIVING JEWISH COMMUNITY OF PALM BEACH COUNTY

TO

START OFF, IN WHAT YEAR WAS THE COMMUNITY AND SHUL ESTABLISHED?

JCS was established in 1986, When the Lubavitcher Rebbe sent my father, Rabbi Shlome Ezagui to build a community in Palm Beach county making it one of the earliest Jewish communities in Palm Beach County. Originally situated on Palm Beach Island, the synagogue eventually relocated north to North Palm Beach. Rabbi Ezagui was the pioneering figure who took the bold step of seeking permission to erect a Menorah on the island, setting a precedent for religious expression in the community.

CURRENTLY, HOW MANY FAMILIES DO YOU HAVE IN THE COMMUNITY? WHAT IS THE MAKE UP OF FAMILIES (ORTHODOX, MODERN, ETC)?

Palm Beach County is experiencing rapid growth, attracting individuals from diverse backgrounds who are relocating from various parts of the country. The general area is known as an affluent community. Our community stands out for its inclusive ethos. Guided by the principle of “Would Moshe Rabeinu or other Tzadikim feel comfortable if they walked in?” we strive to create a welcoming environment for all. We cater to every background and

style, no matter what kind of Yid you are, because we believe that the essence of a person’s soul transcends labels or affiliations. We allow all kind people to join. We let the unkind people go elsewhere. For those seeking a place to call home, our community offers a spectrum of housing options, ranging from $700,000 to $25 million, accommodating a diverse range of preferences and needs.

FOOD IS A BIG PART OF JEWISH LIFE! DO YOU HAVE ANY LOCAL RESTAURANTS AND GROCERY STORES?

Absolutely! KC Market in Boynton recently opened, and we’re thrilled to be just 25 minutes away. There is an Israeli restaurant and a highend steakhouse set to open this summer, with two more restaurants in the works.

WE ALL KNOW THAT SHABBOS IS A SPECIAL TIME. AS THE RABBI, HOW DO YOU ACCOMPLISH BRINGING TOGETHER EVERYONE TO HONOR THE HOLY DAY, GIVING OVER THE EXPERIENCE OF SHABBOS?

Shabbos, the crown jewel of Jewish observance, holds a special place in our hearts.

INTERVIEW

Davening and Shabbat sell themselves. My role as a rabbi is to simply package and deliver them.

I KNOW EVERY COMMUNITY HAS THEIR EVENTS THEY SPEND COUNTLESS HOURS AND DAYS ON. CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT THE SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND EVENTS YOU RUN THROUGHOUT THE YEAR?

Our community is super vibrant and we are always onto the next biggest thing, events designed to engage and inspire. We have a weekly Men’s Club BBQs and outings, Women’s Circle, with its array of baking classes and social gatherings, kids’ programs, event for the Holidays, we have over 1,000

volunteers in our “Kind Kitchen” that come every day to prepare and deliver food to elderly residents throughout the county (believe me, its loads of fun). We have a weekly Yiddish club, Educational speakers & classes monthly, Weekly Chassidus Lunch and Learn, Halacha class, Ladies Tanya class, Talmud, Yehadut, Monthly friday night Shabbat community dinners. We even have a wood cabin Tinyshul & Farmers Market, and much more.

I KNOW YOU HAVE A NEW MIKVAH, SOMETHING EXCITING FOR A JEWISH COMMUNITY. TELL ME WHEN IT WAS COMPLETED AND HOW IT HAS HELPED YOUR COMMUNITY GROW?

The Mikvah was just renovated! Originally erected in 2021 and now redesigned

by Ariella Horowitz with all high end custom finishes. You gotta see it to believe it. The best part? We managed to get a hold of two tiles from Rabbi Menachem Schneerson’s Crown Heights Mikvah and install them In the Mikvah. WHEN IT COMES TO JEWISH EDUCATION, WHAT IS AVAILABLE IN THE AREA FOR FAMILIES LOOKING TO SECURE A SOLID EDUCATION FOR THEIR CHILDREN?

Palm Beach County has almost every type of school within 30 min drive and there are families who carpool together. From traditional, modern orthodox, chassidic, litvish, and chabad.

A RABBI IS A BUSY JOB. WHAT DO YOU FIND CAN BE A CHALLENGE AT TIMES WHEN LEADING A COMMUNITY?

Being a Rabbi is a pretty busy undertaking because the work never really stops, unlike other jobs where you set your goals and your done. My job isn’t complete until Moshiach comes.

FOR FAMILIES LOOKING TO RELOCATE, WHAT IS SOMETHING SPECIAL YOUR COMMUNITY OFFERS THAT CAN ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO JOIN?

What makes us special is that we’re like a big family. It’s not just about what we offer individually, but how we come together to support each other. We are team, we are a community and we are one extended family.

WE CAN ALL USE SOME INSPIRATION IN OUR LIVES. CAN YOU SHARE A STORY OR EVENT THAT OCCURRED IN YOUR COMMUNITY THAT OTHERS CAN LEARN FROM?

Let me share a recent story that truly highlights the concept of Hashgacha Pratis, or divine providence. I received a call to visit a family in the hospital on Erev Shabbat. The father was gravely ill, and his son, a young man in his twenties, confided in me that they had planned to cremate his father. Despite my trying to convince them against cremation, as it goes against Jewish tradition, they seemed set on this course of action, having even prepaid for it.

I sat with the family Erev Shabbat and had a heartfelt conversation, passionately

explaining why cremation is not in line with our beliefs and how important it is to honor the deceased with a traditional Jewish burial. I then went ahead and offered to raise the funds necessary for the burial, despite knowing that convincing them would be an uphill battle.

Initially, they were hesitant, unwilling to reconsider their plans. However, I felt that with this family there was a little hope. I suggested to the son that he join us at the synagogue the following day, as it was conveniently located just two minutes from the hospital and he was sitting around in hospice all day anyway.

During the Shabbat Kiddush, the discussion

naturally turned to the topic of burial versus cremation. One congregant shared his regret about cremating his parents, while no one ever regretted opting for a traditional burial. It was a pivotal moment.

Rushing over to the son, I apologized for the unplanned turn of events, whispering to him that my intention was not to pressure him in public. Yet, the seed had been planted. Over the next two weeks, as the father remained in hospice care, the family ultimately agreed to honor his memory

with a Kosher burial.

My father was sharing the story during Shacharit one day to an individual, mentioning our intention to raise funds for the burial. In a remarkable display of kindness, another congregant overheard and generously offered to cover all expenses, insisting that we need not raise a single cent as he wanted the Mitzvah.

Stories like these remind us of the power of community and the impact of collective kindness. They serve as a testament to our shared values and the resilience of the human spirit, propelling us forward with renewed purpose and gratitude.

In Response To Hate, Fort Lauderdale’s First Jewish Teen Safe Space Opens Doors

Fort Lauderdale unveiled it’s first-ever Jewish Teen Center, marking a significant milestone for Jewish teens in the region. Dubbed the CTeen Lounge and initiated by local teens and supported by the community, this grassroots initiative aims to provide a safe space where Jewish identity is celebrated and nurtured.

Against the backdrop of rising antisemitic rhetoric online and in School, Fort Lauderdale’s CTeen Lounge offers a teencentric community center for relaxation, bonding, and education. In addition to the curated programs and activities, teens will now have a space to meet up with like-minded individuals in their demographic in a safe and enjoyable location.

“Now more than ever, it’s vital to create spaces where Jewish identity can be nurtured and celebrated, says Mrs. Gitty Fayershteyn, who co-directs CTeen Fort Lauderdale with her husband, Rabbi Mendel. “At a time when many are being attacked for who they are, it’s even more important to learn about your heritage, embrace it,

The center is one of 20 such spaces built across the US throughout the past year, with ten more scheduled to open in the coming months. This influx of Jewish teen spaces reflects the awakening of interest amongst young Jews in embracing their identity and taking on leading community positions despite 71 percent of them experiencing antisemitic incidents, according to a recent study.

“Despite all odds, Jewish teens like those of CTeen Fort Lauderdale are stepping up to create positive change in their communities and online,” says Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky of Chabad World Headquarters, “we are seeing these safe spaces serve as the incubators of that change.”

The ribbon-cutting event featured donors, local politicians, CTeen alumni, and current teen leaders sharing personal experiences and insights, offering a glimpse into the challenges and triumphs of modern Jewish youth. The center was inaugurated with a Shabbat Dinner for teens and their families.

About CTeen: CTeen Fort Lauderdale, led by Rabbi Mendel and Gitty Fayershteyn, is a part of CTeen, the Chabad Teen Network, the world’s largest network of Jewish teenagers, encompassing over 730 chapters in 61 countries across six continents. Focused on empowering Jewish teenagers to become leaders in their communities through acts of kindness, community service, and a strong commitment to their values, CTeen is transforming the landscape of Jewish teen engagement. Since October 7th, it has stepped up efforts to ensure all Jewish teens receive the necessary support to cope with antisemitism they may encounter in schools or online, ensuring no one should feel alone.

Operation Inspiration: In My Own Skin

There’s an expression, “Beauty is only skin deep.” While it is important to realize that appearances, both physical and intellectual, are not necessarily meaningful or accurate, it is possible to think that skin itself is unimportant, which could not be further from the truth.

On a superficial levelskin deep, you might say - skin is just a covering for the body. But in truth, it’s so much more. It protects the body from infection and contamination by outside forces. It provides a place for hair to grow and sweat to escape. The skin’s layers serve as a waterproof barrier to the outside world, and provide nerve receptors and the sense of touch which provides our brains with so much important data, like pain, heat, contact and texture.

When the epidermis, the outer layer of skin, made up of dead skin cells, is cut, germs can get inside and cause disease. But the epidermis is pretty tough, and can stand up to all sorts of punishment, from washing dishes to swinging a baseball bat, to hitting a computer keyboard thousands of times a day. Not only that, but the skin is reactive.

R’ Avigdor Miller z”l would point out that not only is the

skin durable, but it can even get stronger. Hands used for swinging a hammer or axe, for example, may become calloused. The thickening of the skin is how Hashem made the body adapt to its purpose and use. Those hardened and thickened areas of skin protect the body during repeated stress. Imagine a tool that got stronger and better each time you used it. That would be incredible, but Hashem designed us in just that way!

You might get callouses from walking, and that’s also to protect you. The skin works to ensure you remain safe and whole. People who walk barefoot develop thicker skin on the soles of their feet and this protects them from cuts and scrapes from any debris that might be on the road. It’s pretty incredible when you think about it, but we hardly ever do.

If while cooking, oil splatters on your shirt, you’ve got to send it to the cleaners because otherwise it will stain. But if it splatters on your hand, you’ll feel the heat, which is a warning to be careful, but you can easily wash your hands and get rid of it. Even if your hands get stained from various items, they aren’t ruined permanently. Scrubbing will help, and eventually new skin will grow and the stains will be gone.

The sensitivity of your skin far surpasses many other testing means, and you can measure a myriad of things from texture and contour, to weight and balance, to heat and cold. When it comes down to it, skin is pretty miraculous and not to be underestimated.

Then there’s another expression. It’s, “being comfortable in your own skin.” That means not being ashamed of who you are. Just as a person with freckles shouldn’t apologize for them, or feel bad, we have to realize that who we are, meaning our abilities, thought processes, and experiences, are – very much like our skin –custom-made for us.

Hashem instills in each of us innate understanding, and then complements it with life

P.34 / TSFCOMMUNITYVOICE.COM COMMUNITY NEWS

lessons and experiences that help us grow. Sometimes we need our skin to be a little thicker. When dealing with our spouses, for example, it’s easy to get hurt if they say something they shouldn’t. But since we understand that Hashem put us in this situation, it’s time to get a bit thicker-skinned and not be hurt by those words. If they are a criticism, we ought to consider whether they are accurate, and seek to change for the better.

A person who fundraises for an organization is another type who might need a thicker skin, to handle the rejection that inevitably comes their way. At the same time, they retain the sensitivity for those they are helping, thereby using that

same “skin” to complete their mission.

Each of us has a “skin” that suits us perfectly. It provides coverage and protection for all the tasks we are meant to do, and gives us the tactile ability to handle them. It also adapts, as we become sensitive to issues through our thoughts and life experiences, and of course, through our study of Torah and trying to understand Hashem’s will.

If we look at the skills and abilities we have, as well as the sensibilities we’ve developed, we can get a better appreciation of how our own personal skin is perfectly suited to everything we need to do in life. Not only that, but we can use it to

COMMUNITY NEWS

identify our mission. If we are able to communicate well with those who are sad, our job is likely to listen and try to cheer them up. If we feel strongly about certain mitzvos, we just may be that way because they need a champion who can help the world observe them better.

Just know that who you are and how you think is greatly influenced by Hashem’s plan, so focus on the wisdom He places in each of us and find the right ways to be comfortable in your own skin.

Being Quiet During A Kail Molah In Shul

We all know there are certain times during davening we take the liberty to talk, I’m no exception. Although we try our best we sometimes forget where we are and feel the urge to speak to a friend in shul. One part of services has really touched my heart, when the Kal Molah is said for a person’s Yortzeit.

It was April 2017 that changed my entire perspective about a Kail Molah.

Growing up we all have seen someone stand by the bema holding a Sefer Torah and reciting the Kail Molah, for someone who had passed. I will never stop thinking about Mr. Stuart Katz a’h. The Rabbi at the Chabad in Boynton Beach, where I regularly daven during the winter sent out an urgent appeal for funds to bury a fellow Jew. Many of us reached out to the Rabbi as I did. While speaking with the Rabbi, I asked who this person was that he was collecting funds for. The Rabbi explained, it’s an elderly gentleman that I know, who is always the first in shul and would fold every Talis neatly before everyone arrived on Shabbos. I recall saying

good shabbos to him every week, but never really had any conversations beyond a cordial greeting. His regular Shabbos seat was always behind the Bema and diagonally across from where I sat. When Shul kiddush started he would get a full plate of food and go back to his seat in shul, quietly eating.

At the beginning of the

that he believes that he found one of Chabad congregants dead in his car, which he lived out of apparently. After hearing all of this from the Rabbi, I of course contributed to the burial fund. I felt bad that in all the years that I greeted Mr. Katz a’h on Shabbos, I never took that extra time to get to know him better. Perhaps, if I knew he was homeless I would have invited him over for meals or given him a prepaid card to purchase food.

2017 winter season, when I went to Chabad, I almost didn’t recognize Mr. Katz, he had lost a fair amount of weight, which was strikingly noticeable. I recall thinking, perhaps I should ask him how he lost all the weight without being too nosy. Let’s face it we could all benefit from losing some weight and improve our health. I decided not to ask him any questions.

The Rabbi told me he received a call from the Sheriff’s department stating

I asked the Rabbi who will say Kaddish for him? The Rabbi explained we could pay someone in Israel that says Kaddish. My first thought was that the person in Israel is most likely saying Kaddish for many people. The next day, I called Rabbi Sholom Ciment and told him that since I go to Shul twice a day, every day, I would say Kaddish for Mr. Katz for the next 11 months, which I did. This was my way of honoring a fellow Jew who fell on hard times who I never got to know. I still feel guilty I never helped him or invited him for meals.

Stuart Katz a’h was flown up to New York and was buried in Chesed Shel Emes

I’ve been saying Kaddish for Mr. Katz a’h every year since 2017. What bothers me most, as a result of my experience, is that congregants in shuls I’ve attended feel it’s appropriate to talk while someone is pouring out their heart for a family member or friend,

while reading the Kail Molah. I used to be one of those that spoke in Shul during a Kail Molah, this all changed for me because of Mr. Stuart Katz a’h.

I ask all who read this article to think about those who are being remembered by family or friend with this very short prayer, a Kail Molah. Please take it upon yourself to be silent for those that are no longer with us.

REAL ESTATE

and the top 1% nationally - facilitating nearly 6 Billion dollars in home sales - I bring you insights grounded in experience and authenticity, backed by the most upto-date sources

Introduction:

As the first quarter of 2024 unfolds, the real estate markets in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties continue to develop, each displaying unique trends amid various economic pressures and opportunities Here’s an over view of the performance and dynamics in these key areas:

Miami-Dade County: Resilience and Growth

Miami-Dade County's real estate market has demonstrated resilience, with a 1 5% increase in single-family home sales compared to last year, totaling 2 , 4 49 homes sold in Q1 2024 This growth is supported by strong global migration and company relocations to the area The luxur y segment, in particular, has seen a notable surge, with sales of million-dollar homes rising by 4 47% in March 2024

Broward County: Mixed Signals with a Strong Luxury Market

homes priced at $1 million and above increasing by 7% year-over-year As new listings approach pre-pandemic levels, the market is adjusting to new dynamics, offering more options for buyers and contributing $278 million to the local economy in March 2024

Palm Beach County: Tension Between High Demand and Low Supply

In Palm Beach County, the real estate market is characterized by high demand coupled with low supply, which led to a 7 8% increase in luxur y home sales Nevertheless, total home sales declined sharply by 20 6% With inventor y levels 28 6% below historical averages, the rise in new listings offers a glimmer of hope for more balanced market conditions in the future

Economic Impact and Market Dynamics

The real estate sectors in these counties have collectively had a significant economic impact, with home sales contributing over $810 million locally in March 2024 The market has also seen a high volume of cash transactions, particularly in Palm Beach, where 5 4.3% of sales were cash purchases, indicating a strong presence of foreign and out-of-state buyers.

April 2024, according to Freddie Mac. Despite these challenges, there is an appreciation in home prices across the region, with Palm Beach leading with an 11 3% increase in the median price of single-family homes year-over-year

Sage Advice versus Aged Advice

Unfortunately, in today’s world, there’s no shortage of socalled experts offering advice on, quite frankly, everything…

Woman: So, I see you drink a lot of coffee?

Man: Yes

Woman: How many coffees a day, you think?

Man: Usually about 3

Woman: How much do you pay per coffee?

Man: $5.00, including tip

Woman: And how long have you been drinking?

Man: About 20 years, I suppose.

Woman: So a coffee costs $5, and you have 3 coffees a day, which puts your spending each month at $450, or $5400 annually. Not accounting for inflation, you have spent

$108,000 in the last 20 years! That money could’ve been put into an investment account, and after accounting for compound interest for the past 20 years, you would now have enough money to buy a Ferrari.

Man: I see you in here often. Do you drink coffee?

Woman: Not really.

Man: Where’s your Ferrari?

This humorous exchange highlights a fundamental truth: it’s easy to dispense advice but far harder to follow it oneself. In the realm of finance, there are countless “talking heads” who offer advice on real estate, mortgages, and financial planning without the basic knowledge or experience. Your Uncle Larry, who last got a mortgage 15 years ago, or your

real estate agent, Aunt Bessy, who hasn’t been active in real estate for 10 years, might mean well, but their advice could be outdated or based on limited experience.

When seeking financial advice, it’s crucial to consider the source. Look for professionals with a proven track record of success in their field. Prioritize those who have demonstrated expertise and a history of helping clients or other family members achieve their goals. Moreover, don’t just listen to advice—evaluate it critically. Consider whether the person offering advice has a vested interest in the outcome. Analyze their recommendations and seek multiple opinions before making any major financial decisions.

P.42 / TSFCOMMUNITYVOICE.COM REAL ESTATE

Additionally, remember that financial advice should be tailored to your individual circumstances. What works for one person may not be suitable for another. A cookie-cutter approach to financial planning rarely yields optimal results. Instead, seek personalized advice that takes into account your goals, risk tolerance, and short-term and long-term ambitions.

Ultimately, the best financial advice often comes from those who have “walked the walk” themselves. Seek out mentors and advisors who have achieved the financial success you aspire and learn from their experiences. When being guided

by experienced experts, you can avoid costly mistakes and set yourself on the path to true financial well-being.

How I Convinced My Coworker To Leave Sales

I got a call last week from a distraught sales rep in our company. He was ready to throw in the towel after two months in sales. I didn’t blame him.

He joined the company thinking that he’d be bringing in business after month number one, and consistent business too. I had a secret to divulge. If that was the case, who wouldn’t go into sales, a constant opportunity where the ceiling is no limit to success?

Our rep in question wanted to know the secret sauce to merchant processing sales. Forty-five minutes later, the words, “I guess I’m done selling” left his mouth. He was ready to find a new job. But wasn’t I here to encourage him? Why did I end up having the opposite effect?

The goal on the call paid off. I wasn’t on the call to paint a rosy picture of sales. I talked to him because I needed him to understand the work and time it takes to complete one single sale.

I started by asking him how many calls or door knocks he made today. “Unsure”, was his answer. “How about this week,” I asked? He didn’t know. I was speechless. “How do you expect

to be bringing in business if you don’t know the recipe it takes to get there!?”, I stammered. “But I do so many door knocks and calls. I surely would have gotten one sale by now,” he complained.

“Well, do you know your product? Probably still learning it, right? How can you sell without knowing your product?” I asked? To his chagrin, I explained that one only really learns a product in our industry once we make the sale, train in our new client, and manage them.

I told him a story of when I had just gotten started in sales. I was six months in with only

three clients and a lot of booboos in between. I was frustrated just like him. I called a mentor of mine who has a realestste team of thirty folks in Los Angeles selling million-dollar properties daily. I said “Neal, I can’t take this selling anymore. I’m calling and knocking daily and I’m barely seeing any success.” Neal responded years earlier with the same question I asked our sales rep here today. “How many people do you talk to weekly?” I couldn’t answer his question. Once I figured out how little that number actually was, I become too stressed out to put in the work that it actually took to see the success

P.52 / TSFCOMMUNITYVOICE.COM
BUSINESS

I wanted to see. I subsequently left sales.

Maybe now, our sales rep was also beginning to understand the greatest sales technique, that of setting proper expectations.

Robert Ringer in his #1 New York Times bestseller “Winning Through Intimidation” (1973), details the importance of setting expectations. “The reason it’s okay if a deal falls through is because day-to-day “failure” is an integral part of long-term success. So, part and parcel to a true positive mental attitude is having the mental toughness to move quickly on to the next deal when a deal you’ve been working on blows up. Anticipating continual shortterm setbacks has the positive effect of deflating their impact

on your mental state when they occur, which in turn paves the way for long-term success.”

In other words, Ringer is teaching us the power of the Theory of Next. It’s the paradox of preparing for long term success by bracing oneself against the effects of shortterm failure. This doesn’t mean you use it as an excuse to fail in a situation where it may have been possible to succeed had you tried harder or been more consistent.

The deals we end up closing are a small percentage of those we work on. As a matter of fact, it’s often the deals we see our selfs working on the hardest that don’t make it to the finish line. The idea is to set our expectations properly and

apply the Theory of Next. This was all too much work for this new sales rep, and it sounds like he’ll be looking for another job. My advice for one looking to start off in sales isn’t complicated. Once you have the recipe for a healthy mindset, you can now set the table in sales. Invest six months and learn what it takes to make a sale. Study and repeat. With patience, a system and of course a mentor, you’ll become the expert in what you’re offering within a few short years of hard work.

Shalom Markman started selling merchant services by door knocking in NYC. He currently lives in Norfolk VA with his family and visits Florida when he gets hungry or brings on a new client. You can find him on LinkedIn.
