Building Our New Home

Capital Campaign
This year, following the signing of a 50-year lease containing a 25-year renewal option with Temple Shalom, we began the process of fulfilling two pertinent requirements needing to be met in order to design and construct our new building.
Rezoning the Property
First, the 4.3-acre undeveloped lot, west of Temple Shalom’s parking lot, needed to be rezoned from residential use to one compatible with the approved usage on Temple Shalom’s developed tracts. The rezoning process requires the approval of the Collier County Board of Commissioners and consists of providing a survey, informing the surrounding neighbors, holding several public hearings, site plans, architectural renderings and various other requirements by the County.
After a year of reviews and rezoning meetings, Jewish Federation of Greater Naples was unanimously granted the appropriate zoning in compliance, and concurrent, with Temple Shalom!
Raising Funds
Secondly, we needed to raise funds for development of the property. We started the capital campaign with a very successful, quiet phase, meeting with our major donors while offering naming opportunities. The next phase began with holding virtual tours of the new building and mailing a brochure to all donor supporters.
The total cost of the project is $14 million dollars, which includes the creation of an endowment to help cover operating costs. Presently, we have raised $7.8 million dollars, but still need everyone’s help to make our dream — to create a warm and welcoming place for our Jewish Community to enjoy now and for future generations — a reality.
