Adamah program to address sustainability and our connection to Earth
Feb. 14 event features Adamah CEO Jakir Manela and Director of Youth Empowerment Liana Rothman
By Rachel Siegal, Adamah Chief Development Officer
Adamah, the largest Jewish environmental nonprofit in the country, is coming to Naples for an important conversation around the future of North American Jewish life on Feb. 14. With the mission to cultivate vibrant Jewish life in deep connection with the Earth, Adamah engages thousands of young people, many of whom view leadership and activism around climate change as the primary way they understand their own Jewish identities and the way they want (and perhaps expect) Jewish organizations to have relevance to their lives.
At this interactive gathering, participants will dig into important questions such as:
• What are the dynamic forces at play for young Jewish people today?
• How can and should the Jewish community respond to and plan for sustainability and climate resilience?
• How can we understand Israel’s leadership in climate tech and innovation as a potential tool for nextgen North American
Jews to connect to a broader sense of Jewish peoplehood?
• What can we do about forces at play in the progressive climate movement that seem to require people to check their Zionism or Judaism at the door in order to be accepted and welcomed?
Join Adamah’s awardwinning national leaders in a deep and meaningful evening that is sure to spark ideas for how we can respond to this moment of overlapping crises and the impact we can have as a Jewish community.
Subsequent gatherings will offer an intergenerational component to include grandchildren (ages 13+) in facilitated discussions sparking conversations drawing upon Jewish teachings to help us confront the climate crisis, our obligations to planet Earth and our shared future.
