Adamah program for the entire Mishpachah
By Rachel Siegal, Adamah Chief Development Officer
This winter, Jewish Federation of Greater Naples will offer a first-ever program for adults and teens to engage each other in authentic conversations about an issue that many GenZ-ers and millennials regard as their top concern and a source of great anxiety. Together with your children or grandchildren, you will have the opportunity to learn about issues of climate uncertainty and its related impacts — extreme weather, degradation of air and water, food production, and more — through a Jewish lens.
This unique program will be moderated by expert educators from Adamah, the largest Jewish environmental organization in the world. The first session is for adults only and will take place on Thursday evening, Feb. 15. We will frame the issue and discuss how the Jewish community can respond. Subsequent gatherings will offer an intergenerational component to include children or grandchildren (ages 13+) in facilitated discussions sparking conversations drawing upon Jewish teachings to help us confront the climate crisis, our obligations to planet Earth and our shared future.
Adamah cultivates vibrant Jewish life in deep connection with the Earth. The Jewish Youth Climate Movement (JYCM) is Adamah’s teen youth movement working to make collective action around the climate crisis a central feature of what it means to be Jewish in the 21st century.
Established in February 2020, JYCM has grown and now includes 65 chapters nationwide, bringing Jewish youth together for Jewish environmental education, community building and climate action. This powerful force in Jewish life inspires and empowers the next generation of Jewish leaders. As these high schoolers age, Adamah is creating a College Campus Network, providing a way to stay involved and engaged into the college years.
Through JYCM, CCN, Adamah retreats, camps and advocacy, we will build bridges between the wisdom tradition of our ancestors and our descendants, strengthening our peoplehood and our planet.
Join the leadership of Adamah to explore these dynamic issues and how they impact Jewish life and building a more sustainable world.
