“Busy in Brooklyn’s” Chanie Apfelbaum highlights January event

“Celebration of Jewish Life”

By Rabbi Fishel Zaklos, Chabad Naples

The “Celebration of Jewish Life” program, hosted by Chabad of Naples, brings a showcase of Jewish presenters to Naples to entertain, enrich and empower community members. It provides opportunities to come together for cultural experiences, and to explore the richness and diversity of Jewish life.

The January event features Chanie Apfelbaum, cookbook author and founder of the popular blog “Busy in Brooklyn.” Known for bringing a trendy edge to kosher meals, Apfelbaum’s recipes are approachable, playful and tasty, and introduce exciting global flavors to the kosher canon of Jewishinspired dishes.

Chanie Apfelbaum

Apfelbaum is a fulltime food writer/photographer who grew up in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, where she was raised on traditional Jewish foods like gefilte fish and stuffed cabbage. When she got married and started entertaining, she put her own spin on old-time favorites to give them a modern, gourmet vibe.

What’s in her new book, “Totally Kosher?” From Apfelbaum: “Oh gosh, what’s not in the book! I really tried to give you a little bit, and a lot, of everything. From basic tools to tips and tricks, the book includes over 150 recipes, each with a beautiful color photo.”

Join us on Monday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. at Chabad of Naples, 1789 Mandarin Road. Apfelbaum will be in conversation with Ettie Zaklos. Tickets are $25 in advance ($30 at the door) and include two desserts from Apfelbaum’s book during the book-signing reception following her presentation.
