Empowering caregivers
Dr. Jaclynn Faffer, President/ CEO
Recently, Naples Senior Center received a generous grant from the Moorings Park Foundation for the Center’s Caregivers Empowerment Program. Caregivers are often referred to as the “unidentified or hidden patient.” The Caregiver Empowerment Program embraces the caregivers’ journey by connecting them with caregiving peers through emotional support, socialization, education, respite and resources that help mitigate the burden of caregiving.
Programs providing resources and support include weekly caregiver support groups facilitated by the Dementia Program Coordinator, one-on-one emotional support, dementia respite support groups, family social activities, a private Facebook page and geriatric case management. Education and training programs include monthly caregiving training, quarterly caregiver “boot camps” providing intensive hands-on training, and educational lectures by experts in the field.
