From the heart of

Jonathan Bernis Warmest greetings to you in Messiah Yeshua! Shout for joy, O heavens; rejoice, O earth; burst into song, O mountains! For the Lord comforts His people and will have compassion on His afflicted ones. —Psalm 49:13 It continues to be another great year for our Jewish Voice outreaches. Already, we have been able to treat over 25,000 impoverished Jews and their neighbors with completely free medical, dental and eye care. They live in deplorable conditions and have no access to the healthcare we take for granted. We have demonstrated through our service to them that God cares for them and loves them, that He is full of mercy, tenderness and compassion. As a result, thousands have prayed and invited Yeshua into their lives. As you have read in this newsletter about the amazing ways the Holy Spirit moved in Manipur, we trust that you have been inspired to keep partnering with us in our mission to reach out to the Lost Tribes of the House of Israel wherever they may be found. We never forget that it is your prayers and financial support that make all of this possible. Thank you so much for standing with us throughout the year. You have truly had a great part in the harvest this year! I know that you rejoice with us in the knowledge that so many have been blessed in India and Ethiopia and that through your support, lives have been changed for eternity. And now we’re off to bless our Jewish friends in Gondar, Ethiopia, and Zimbabwe.

On behalf of our entire team, I thank you for your continued partnership. As you have been faithful to God and to Jewish Voice, we pray for His continued faithfulness to you, and that He strengthens, protects, and blesses you as He promised in Genesis 12:3 … “I will bless those who bless the Children of Israel.”

Report From the Field Jack and the Egg – The Yolk of Faith Breakfast that morning was light for Rabbi Jack, who was overseeing the Prayer Room for the Manipur clinic. On his way out, he decided to grab a hardboiled egg for later, to get him through till lunch. The Prayer Room was filled with patients and family members sitting in small groups with team members who shared the love of Yeshua. “Rabbi Jack,” a translator came to him, “I have two Bnei Menashe women and they won’t listen. Can you come help?” A bit amused by the translator’s choice of words, Jack went to meet the Jewish women. Their eyes lit up when they heard Jack is a Rabbi. They began their argument. “This man tells us that God sent His Son, Yeshua, and that Yeshua is God as well. We are Jewish,” they explained, “and we believe God is one. There is only one God.” “You’re right. I agree with you,” Jack said. A look of relief passed over the women’s faces. He then went on to explain the tri-unity of God. The women did not understand one God in three Persons. They could not accept it. Then Jack remembered his mid-morning snack over at his station. “Excuse me a moment. I’ll be right back!” When he returned, he asked, “What is this?” The women said, “An egg.”

Your partner to reach the Jew first and also the nations,

Rabbi Jack began to peel the shell off the egg. “Hold out your hand,” he instructed one of the women. Into her open palm he placed a few crumbles of egg shell.

“That’s egg shell,” she said. Next he took some of the egg white and crumbled it into another place in her hand and asked, “What is that?”

Connections “The egg white,” they replied. Next came a separate little pile of yolk crumbs. “And this?” “The egg yolk.” His next question made all the difference. “So, now you have three eggs, right?” The women answered, “What? No, you have one egg. These are the parts of it, but it’s all one egg.” Rabbi Jack explained that God is one, true to the Tanakh (Old Testament), but He has three parts in the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit in the same way as the egg is still one egg with three distinct parts. A short time later, both women prayed to receive Yeshua as their Savior. Earlier that morning God put the thought in Jack’s mind, “Hey, why don’t you grab an extra egg this morning. It might come in handy.” Good idea, Jack thought. Little did he know he would meet two Jewish women grappling with the Trinity and that egg would become instrumental in unblocking their path to faith in Yeshua.

That is, until they heard the news that he visited the Prayer Room before leaving. There he sat down with two local prayer counselors and, looking them in the eyes as they spoke to him, he listened attentively. His own eyes seemed almost smiling and his manner eager. He listened as they shared the Good News of Yeshua, and he believed. He is a mystery, the man in white. What was going on in his mind as he wandered around outside, in and out of the line, here and there, unsettled? Was he drawn to us but afraid? The tenets of his religion passionately deny the faith of ours. How long had God been pricking his heart? How had he become open to Yeshua? We don’t know his story; it is a lifelong story. We were privileged to be involved with him at the pivotal moment when his story changed and his whole life became new. Two counselors were there as he bowed his head, touched the tips of his fingers together, and prayed to Yeshua as his Savior. You were there, too . . . as a vital part of enabling JVMI to go to Manipur and meet him with the miracle-working God of Yeshua HaMashiach.

Discovering the Man of Peace in Manipur In Luke 10, Yeshua ( Jesus) gave instruction to missionary teams that were going into cities and villages to find a “man of peace.” This man would partner with the teams, bringing the blessing of Yeshua and open doors to reach the people with the Gospel. Yeshua is still sending teams of disciples into the nations to proclaim the Good News, just as He did in New Testament times. Jewish Voice employs this same strategy as we minister to the scattered Lost Tribes of Israel. In Manipur, where our team recently conducted a very successful medical outreach to the Bnei Menashe of Northern India, the “man of peace” that the Lord led us to is a man named John. He has been a faithful partner with Jewish Voice, helping us since the early days of our ministry to identify villages where we should offer free medical care to God’s Chosen People. John and his staff have blessed us with friendship and true partnership. Yeshua has in turn blessed him and his team for their service.

John recently told us that the week our Jewish Voice team comes to their village is the most anticipated highlight of their entire year. As Yeshua has given him wisdom, John has been able to reach the greatest number of those who need free medical care. Join me in thanking God for His servants, purposefully placed in just the right place to assist in the proclamation of the Good News of Yeshua in far-away lands! Jewish Voice is blessed to partner with these “men and women of peace” who share the shalom of God in their nation.

Tears of Joy

The Mystery Man He wore all white—the trousers, long tunic, and cap of the Muslim faith. Carrying a gray wooden cane carved with rings, the man wandered outside the clinic much of the day. It seems he tried to get in line a few times but somehow returned to his meanderings. Was he impatient? In pain? Or was he uncomfortable being at a free medical clinic put on by Jewish Believers? The Jewish Voice security team wasn’t sure. “There he is again,” is about all they knew of him. Finally, the head of security instructed a teammate, “Go take him by the hand and walk him into the clinic.” The man was escorted in to receive the care he needed, sporting a bright blue medical band to go with his clean, white clothing. From there, the security team lost track of him.
