Jewish Federation
saves
lives
With your help, we are enabling vulnerable seniors and Holocaust survivors to age in their homes with respect, dignity and independence.
How we save lives: • Combatting food insecurity by providing sustenance to families here and across the globe • Providing safe paths to Israel for at-risk families around the world • Enabling Holocaust survivors to age with dignity through home healthcare, companion services and meal deliveries • Caring for families in the Palm Beaches with mental health and bereavement services • Mobilizing immediate on-the-ground global disaster relief in times of crisis • Strengthening social and academic skills by connecting at-risk youth in Israel with mentors
30,000 kosher meals are being delivered this year to frail seniors throughout Palm Beach County.
Shirley lives alone in West Palm Beach in a second-floor walk-up. Shirley is one of thousands of frail, homebound seniors living in the Palm Beaches. Without the help of Federation, Shirley would be very lonely – living in isolation. Through Federation and its partners, Shirley is able to age in her home with dignity through kosher meal deliveries, assistance with household chores and regular companionship. Anna is a Jewish woman in St. Petersburg, Russia – where Jewish life was once nearly wiped out. Anna is now in her 90s, unable to leave her fourth-story apartment. A volunteer with Federation’s global partners delivers kosher meals to her each week. Federation is combatting food insecurity, while enabling Anna to age independently.
Jewish Federation
empowers lives
With your help, we are empowering Jewish college students to stand up to anti-Israeli activity on campus.
How we empower lives: • Enabling adults with disabilities to lead fulfilling, independent lives
25,000 students are standing up to anti-Israel activity and connecting to Jewish life on 28 campuses across Florida this year.
• Encouraging healthy relationships with peer mentorship and domestic-abuse counseling • Advocating for the Jewish community and the people of Israel • Promoting diversity and tolerance to children in the Palm Beaches and in Israel • Empowering literacy, learning and volunteerism in Palm Beach County public schools • Providing Jewish teens with leadership opportunities in the Palm Beaches and in Israel
Josh from Palm Beach Gardens is a freshman at the University of Florida. He encounters anti-Israel messages from Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) supporters on campus. Because he was involved with Federation’s HaMakom clubs in high school and participated in Federation’s IsraelTalks program, he is prepared to respond with vigor, intelligence and poise.
Nikolai, a teen in St. Petersburg, Russia, wasn’t aware he was Jewish until a few years ago. Now, he is connecting with his Jewish roots and values and is actively participating in a blossoming community of young Jewish people in the former Soviet Union. Nikolai and his family regularly go to Yesod, St. Petersburg’s Jewish community center supported by Federation’s global partnership.
Jewish Federation
transforms lives
With your help, we are creating an inclusive Jewish community with ample opportunities to build Jewish identity and connect to Jewish values.
How we transform lives: • Building Jewish identity by providing scholarships for children to enjoy life-changing Jewish experiences at overnight summer camp • Connecting children with disabilities and their families with Jewish identity and education • Mentoring children from single-parent homes • Strengthening Jewish identity in young adults through Israel travel experiences • Advancing the integration of EthiopianIsraelis into Israeli society with language, education and job assistance
150 children
and their families have connected to Jewish life with summer camp and Hebrew school for children with disabilities.
Jacob from Boynton Beach is fun-loving, adventurous – and one of hundreds of children in the Palm Beaches diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Jacob is building his Jewish identity through Federation’s day camps and Hebrew school for children with disabilities. Jacob is learning about holidays, prayers, mitzvot and even Hebrew words in a warm, nuturing environment. Gal lives in Rosh Pina, Israel, a city in Federation’s partnership region. Gal was struggling because of her parents’ divorce, and her grades began to decline. Federation connected Gal with a mentor who helped her channel her emotions into positive activities. Gal’s grades have improved, she’s making friends and – despite the challenges she’s faced – she is on a path to success.
Jewish Federation
inspires
lives
With your help, we are inspiring Jewish teens in the Palm Beaches to build their identity and connect to Jewish values through community service.
How we inspire lives: • Empowering Jewish teens in the Palm Beaches to live the Jewish value of Tikkum Olam through community service
1,000 teens are connecting to Jewish values this year through clubs, travel experiences and service opportunities with Federation’s Jewish Teen Initiative.
• Fostering Jewish life and learning with deliveries of free Jewish books and music to young families through PJ Library® • Building a foundation of Jewish early childhood education through Jewish Right Start™ incentives • Inspiring Jewish identity among young people in countries faced with rising anti-Semitism • Developing a community of emerging leaders in the Palm Beaches and Israel
Max, a high school student in Wellington, was looking for a way to meet his school’s community service requirement. He learned about Federation’s community service project to feed the hungry in Palm Beach County. Now, Max inspires his friends and classmates to do good in the community, all while building a unique and powerful understanding of Jewish values.
Adina, a Jewish teen in a war-torn region of Ukraine, is being inspired in her own way. Each month, Adina is given the opportunity to attend regular retreats with other Jewish teens in a safe part of the country. This provides Adina with much-need respite, all possible through Federation and its global partners.
Jewish Federation
connects lives
With your help, we are connecting active adults and Boomers in Jewish life with engagement, education and volunteer opportunities.
How we connect lives: • Celebrating Jewish culture and holidays with community-wide family programs • Creating a community of comfort and connections for Holocaust survivors • Building connections among young adults through short- and long-term experiences in Israel • Providing scholarships and incentives for Jewish teens to participate in meaningful experiences together • Strengthening connections to Jewish life through arts, learning and recreational programs • Empowering students in the Palm Beaches to connect with students in Israel through school twinning projects
1,500 active adults and Boomers are taking part in high-quality, Jewish-themed continuing education classes this year in our community.
Susan, a retired schoolteacher in Jupiter, is always looking to learn something new. She signed up for continuing education classes through Federation’s partners, which provide lectures on a variety of Jewishthemed topics. She is now more informed – and connected to the growing community of Jewish Boomers living in the Palm Beaches. Ofer, a boy in Hazor HaGlilit, looks forward to Skyping with students at a synagogue in the Palm Beaches each week. Ofer is building meaningful friendships with his American peers, opening his eyes to new perspectives through Federation’s global partnership.
