Found

My wife called me and told me that she hadn't seen the cat in a couple days. She asked me to look for it.

I looked under and over for her. She liked to climb and hide.

But I couldn't find her.

We had had an incident with the neighbor's bird feeder and I started to wonder if she might have done anything to her.

I started to see things.

Perhaps it was the graveyard across the street...

I started to see blood everywhere.

And it scared me badly for her.

Signs that our cat had been hurt or seriously wounded.

Were everywhere I looked.

unequivical proof that she was dead or dying.

then I heard it.

raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh

back by the woodpile

raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh

On the ground.

raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh Under the tree.

It was her.

she had something under the deadfall.

where she had found it I had no idea.

she had been at it for a while.

I watched fascinated as she continued.

I chased her away from it.

I propped it up to dry out while i called my wife to tell her I had found the cat.

She would be thrilled.
