Curriculum Vitae

Motivation Letter Dear Americas Region and beloved SCORPions,

My name is Jhan Carla Laime, I’m 24 years old, former NORP for two years and current VPE from IFMSA Bolivia. Today is a tremendous honor for me to share with you my candidature for SCORP RA 2020/2021.

Since

I

was

a

teenager,

I

realized

that

the

world

was

not

fair

to

people,

I've

always

wondered why the powerful and the poor exists, discrimination and racism, or why it was wrong to be different from others. At that time I decided to become a doctor to give my help in any way possible to everyone, no matter their condition. However, I felt alone and it was a dream that it would take a hard time to achieve. I suffered a lot when I fell from my own cloud, but mostly because I was unable to change the world on my own.

From the first moment I met IFMSA, I knew that it would be impossible to get out of this incredible space of young dreamers who want to create a better place to live. A lot of opportunities opened up before my eyes, I attend to T.N.H.R.T in Pre RM Paraguay 2018, I participated in two SWG for SCORP Campaigns, I deliver SCORP Sessions, I met amazing people, and it made me realized that I am not alone and there are other “crazy people” like me, working to build a peaceful world, where we could all enjoy our human rights, and that is precisely what I want to do.

SCORP is what I was always looking for, it has given meaning to my life and made me grow as a person and future doctor, it is for that reason that last year, I applied to be VPE of my NMO, to return everything learned in the committee. Now I realize that not all is lost, before the COVID 19 pandemic, a final exam for the university was pending, and until the day I write this letter, we have no news. That is why this time I am sending you my application, and

until

my

graduation

I

will

have

time

available

to

dedicate

myself

entirely

to

the

committee.

Why do I run for the position of SCORP RA? Throughout this year I have been able to train myself with the correct tools and skills to offer to my committee and region. I see a lot of potential

in

our

members,

our

NMOs,

in

the

beloved

Americas.

I

want

to

empower

the

Region, because the defense of Human Rights is continuos, and the creation of a better society will take us time. We are not alone, just separated and it's time to unite, to keep dreaming and creating that world, where everyone respect the Human Rights, where peace reigns and above all where all together we can change it!

PLAN OF ACTION

PLAN OF ACTION Trimesters: 1. October - December 2. January - March 3. April - June 4. July - September

My ideas for the position of SCORP RA for Americas Region are divided in 4 trimesters and based on SCORP Strategic Plan 20192021:

I. ENGAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATION - SCORP IT:

Introduction, Team building (Intercultural nights, IT Tea Party times, etc), OLMs and reports in general, constantly communication with SCORP D, with LRP for external opportunities for the members, CB DA for workshops and trainings held in the region, RAs for support between regions and PR & CA for regional campaigns. - REGIONAL TEAM: Introduction, team building (latin nights, support for the RT, etc), OLMs and SCORP Development reports, collaboration with the RAs for Regional campaigns, webinars and activities related between SCs. - NORPs: Constantly communication with the NORPs, because they are the main piece for SCORP development in our region, held monthly general OLMs, 1:1 NORP OLM (at least 6 per NORP). Implement a OLM for NORPs Mental Health only, and National Activities check. Use of the SCORP platforms (SCORP groups in the region). Increase the participation in SWG for international and regional campaigns, external opportunities, giving them all the information about it. - SCORPions: Invitation to 2-5 members per NMO OLM, to share the SCORP 101 session, international and regional campaigns, webinars ( Ex: Facebook live in the SCORP Americas Group).

II. CAPACITY BUILDING - SCORPÂ Knowledge: for this part, I want to evaluate how much the NORPs known about the SC, and all the basis for a better SCORP development, this might be realized through surveys (pre and post evaluation) before the 1:1 NORP or general OLM. - SCORP Management: With the CB RA (if possible), develop webinars for NORPs or/and SCORPions about how create a National SCORP Strategic Planning, Member engagement, Advocacy and Policy documents, Handover process, etc. (All this previous coordination with the SCORP IT, RD, CB RA and NORPs).

PLAN OF ACTION - Workshops and Trainings: After the pandemic, it will be a challenge to deliver this part in our region, implement the ITHRE to the region, it will be an amazing opportunity for our members (This in coordination with the IT), however as protection measures are being lifted in different countries, in coordination with the CB DA, we will continue encourage our SCORPions to develop the respectives workshops and trainings. Coordinate the Pre RM workshop or training (T.N.H.R.T or HRMP workshop, necessary in the Region), send the report and create a pre and post evaluation about the knowledge acquired, collaborate the SCORP IT for PreGAs workshops and all necessary for this important part.

- NORP Weekend online: Due to how expensive the tickets are in the region or the great distance between the main cities of the Americas, after consulting with the IT, see the possibility of holding a NORP weekend online, where the NORPs will be constantly gain soft skill and tools for SCORP development in their NMOs

III. ACTIVITIES IMPLEMENTATION - Regional campaigns: Create potential SCORP related days campaigns (4), the selection will be coordinated with the SCORP IT and NORPs (Ideas: World Mental Health Day, International Men's day, International day of Education, International Women's day, this all relate about the issues we held in our region) - National or local projects: Support and follow up the quality of the activity, enrollment to a SCORP Program and uploaded to SCORP Database. Visibility: Show the national activities, every end of the trimester, through SCORP Facebook Groups (International and Regional). Create and establish a template for the information about the activity. - Programs: Previous coordination with the respective Program coordinators, promote the enrollment of activities to SCORP Programs, sharing the basis through an OLM or webinar, for correct fill in and greater impact - SCORP Americas Database: Update the database of the region, to have greater knowledge and development of the activities.

IV. EXTERNAL REPRESENTATION AND OPPORTUNITIES - International Campaigns: Encourage the members to be part of the SWG for SCORP related days. - LRP: Share all the opportunities and calls through the SCORP channels and help the SCORPions (if necessary) with their applications. - Stakeholder mapping: In collaboration with LRP and NORPs, start tracking our SCORP partners that are established in our Region, especially in our NMOs, for more impact and collaboration in the local, National and Regional projects, like: PAHO, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE RED CROSS, Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF)

IV. SUSTAINABILITY - SCORP Knowledge: After the surveys for collect SCORP data, deliver SCORP 101 session to set our first goal, about knowledge and advocacy in our region. Track the knowledge of the members with pre and post evaluation, in any of the CB ideas. - SCORP Manuals: If applicable, update the SCORP and NORP Manuals with the IT, and translate them for the region. - Handover: During the first trimester with the former SCORP RA, and for the last trimester with the next one. - Evaluation: This is and important part, I will use the final report of the previous RA for a pre evaluation about the development of the SC and to continue the work and resolve the main face problems, and track the implementation of this POA, create a check list and postevaluation. **Pd: Big shoutout to Ana Pau Estrella, you did an incredible job and I hope that the next RA could fill your shoes.
