TAKE ACTION People at the top of every profession know how to get things done. They know how to take action, and that ability is a greater factor than anything else – intelligence, drive, talent – in determining the success of the individual and the organization. Despite the simplicity of the concept, there is a perpetual shortage of people who excel at getting things done, a shortage of those who have a habit of putting ideas into action. If you want something accomplished, you have to do something about it. Action is a choice, and the first choice must turn ideas into something, anything, more. Taking action is more than big ideas. Ideas are important, but only valuable after implementation. One average idea put into action and makes an impact is of more value than the far more clever idea left unrealized. If you have an idea that you really believe in, act on it. Action, while an important first step, can quickly lose value to a business if there is no plan. Action without agenda is often

time wasted. In order to maximize the value of action, a plan should be drafted, revised, and followed. Remember to take action on the work that matters most. An action plan allows the efficient incorporation of the positive value of taking action. The action plan should be used to describe the way the executive and managers of an organization can directly influence the outcome of relevant events. Strategies concerning on-going and future projects, as well as overall organizational and personal goals, can all be part of the action plan. Some of the ways to take positive action in your organization include: Take action to inspire ideas. Sometimes ideas require effort. Don’t wait for inspiration to strike, force yourself to think critically for fifteen minutes at the end of the day about the organization, and what action can be taken in the coming days, weeks, months to help achieve goals. Take action and live in the present. Use a weekly plan along with the action continued on page 2

continued from page 1 plan. Weekly plans allow managers and executives to stay focused on short-term and immediate goals. Big picture ideas can turn into distractions and interfere with daily operations. Take action by not waiting until conditions are perfect. When an opportunity is available, take action. If there is a good idea for the design of production vehicles or warehouse space, do not wait until you change vehicles, or relocate. Make those changes a reality. If there is a better space for the Work In Progress filing system, or a better way to group marketing events, consider those in the present, make them part of the action plan, and find out if the idea will benefit

the organization. The longer an idea sits in your head, the weaker it becomes, and the less value it brings. Get it out there, let it be criticized, or complemented, or molded into something that works. Or maybe it’s perfect right away and you’re showered with praise for your insight. It takes courage to take action without instruction from the person in charge. Executives must allow an environment where individual employees are encouraged to share ideas, and then given opportunity to act in pursuit of the organizational objectives.

Take charge of your organization; make a plan to take action. Turn an idea into reality, and start the workplace habit of getting things done. Using a weekly plan allows you to stay focused on your goals. Remember to take action on the work that matters most! You can chose the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. From: Groce, L To: ‘servproofDoverStillwater@gmail.com I have been a customer of NJ Manufacturers Insurance for my automobile and homeowners insurance for many years. I am very fortunate that I have never had to file any homeowner’s claims throughout these many years. On October 9, 2014, my house suffered very serious damage due to a flooding situation. I can honestly say, that not only was I frantic, but for once in my life I had no idea as to what to do…maybe due to the shocking damage and conditions. I reached out to many trusted friends for recommendations as to which company I could call for help in handling all of the damage. Someone recommended that I contact Servpro of Dover/Stillwater. I called the company and spoke to John Blehl, the owner of the company. John offered to come to my house within 15 minutes .When he showed up, I immediately felt a sense of relief. He explained what had happened; he helped me to find people to fix the immediate and attendant problems and told me that he would assist me in every way. He was true to his word. He has been at the house every day working and has supplied workers who could help him with this enormous task. He has explained next steps and has offered to guide me every step of the way. As an Employment Manager, at a major University for over 40 years, I feel that I can judge people and I recognize hard workers. John is extraordinary. He is amazingly communicative, has texted, and called me with every update. He is helping me to coordinate current and future work and is one of the most empathetic people that I have ever met. I don’t know how to thank him and also Kristin Lewis who have worked quickly and tirelessly to resolve the situation. I just felt that I had to express my overwhelming appreciation. Our clients- both the insurance agents and adjusters, thoroughly enjoyed the class content and presentation, as both were informative and interesting. I have seen the water class multiple times and always learn something new with each class. This was the first time for Ethics, and I really enjoyed it. I know that all attendees were very impressed with you and the subject matter. Continuing Ed credits have been a great way for our franchise to connect with our COI's and that is why we like to do at least two a year. Proverbs 21:5 “What’s the Plan?” “The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.” A leader sets the vision for the team. A leader helps set the initiatives that will help the team improve. A leader will serve their team where needed to ensure progress is made to achieve progress toward the goals. A leader will give their te am credit as they make progress, achieving the goals that move toward the vision. There’s a lot to get done as a leader; there’s a whirlwind of daily activity to survive! Is planning really a good investment of your time? Let’s see what Solomon says in God’s Word. “The PLANS of the diligent lead to profit...” The wisest and wealthiest man in history tells us it works, we likely need to heed the advice! Be sure you take time to plan. Don’t let hasty decisions led to poverty. Plan your work and work your plan. And the good news is the more you plan, the more you’ll be prepared to make effective decisions that aren’t hasty, or not well thought out. Your team depends on your vision and planning to set the direction of the team. Your team depends on your positive example of planning and organization in your work. It can be as simple as Annual Goals, a Prioritized Action List and a Weekly Plan. Developing a habit of simple, but regular planning will model the planning skills your team and your family need to succeed!
