MANNER ADVERBS AND ADJECTIVES

ADJECTIVES: Are words that we use to describe nouns

ADVERBS: Are used to describe verbs

THE DIFFERENCE An adjective tells us more about a noun. -

Example: an expensive car, a clever girl

An adverb tells us more about a verb. -

Example: He talked nervously.

FUNCTION OF THE ADVERB It can modify a range of other words or even sentences or phrases. In the examples below, the adverb is in bold and the verb is in italics. It can change a verb: - Dave eats loudly. (How does Dave eat?) - Ann works locally. (Where does Ann work?)

- She never exercises. (When does she exercise?)

FORM OF THE ADVERB Most adverbs can be formed from adjectives by adding „ly‟ to the end of the adjective. For example: slow-slowly, quick-quickly, grand-grandly. If the word ends in a „y‟ like „happy‟ then we change the „y‟ to „i‟. For example: happyhappily. There are some exceptions. In these cases the adverb does not change its form; examples are as follows: fast, very, never, always, often, still...etc Some adverbs are unlike their verbs (irregulars), for example: good has the adverb well.

POSITION OF THE ADVERB The adverb has three main points of position: - Before the subject: Now you can learn about grammar. Between the subject and the main verb: We frequently do exercises to remember everything. And at the end of the sentence, or after the object: There‟s no need to rush, you can take it slowly. But, careful: the adverb will be placed after the verb to be, as in: she is always late.

POSITION OF THE ADJECTIVE The adjective always comes before the noun. When more than one adjective is used, we follow a specific order. For example: I just got a new big, red, leather handbag from my sister. The general rule for the order of the adjectives is as follows: opinion + size + age + shape + colour + origin + material + purpose + NOUN

My grandmother Maria one of the most lovely people in my life, I used to have a mystical enigmatic personality, magic and wise expressed very well to their children and grandchildren

Female fighter, hardworking, skilled in household chores, modern for others facing this aspect of his sense of tradition and custom. My childhood, adolescence and youth walked together to her. Possessed a great sense maternal and suffered for their failed pregnancies, which often frustrated his desire to be a mother. The strength of his spirit allowed him to dump all the love of his heart in his nietas.Buena counselor and friend of long talks in the light of the moon and on warm summer nights. So was my grandmother Mary and thousands of other things that are in the pipeline to keep my mind and like gold, to the delight of my sleepless nights and moments of memories, watching photos that appear as shining your beautiful picture.

PRESENT PERFET STATEMENS

Present Perfect is quite verbal form consisting of the Have assistant and the past participle of the verb. The past participle is the-ed form of the verb, whether it is a regular verb, or form shown in the third column of the list of irregular verbs, if it is an irregular verb. I / you / we / they have watched this programme before. He / she / it has broken the glass. Para la forma verbal interrogativa, se hace una inversión entre el sujeto y el verbo auxiliar: Have you watched this programme before? Has he broken the glass? Para la forma negativa, se introduce la negación not despues del auxiliar. También tenemos la posibilidad de “fusionar” el auxiliar y la negación en una forma contraida: I have not watched this programme before. // I haven‟t watched this programme before. He has not broken the glass. // He hasn‟t broken the glass.

En cuanto a la utilización del Present Perfect, distinguimos cuatro grandes significados para esta forma verbal: 1. Present Perfect de experiencia (Present Perfect of experience): Hace referencia a una situación que ha ocurrido como mínimo una vez en un intervalo de tiempo que incluye el momento presente. I have been to Paris (before). // John has travelled many times by plane. Se puede utilizar con adverbios como always (en frases afirmativas), never (en frases afirmativas con un sentido negativo), ever (en frases interrogativas): I have always liked music. // She has never visited Brazil. // Have you ever been to New York? 2. Present Perfect de resultado (Present Perfect of result) : Hace referencia a una situación que tiene un resultado visible o relevante en el momento presente. I have broken my leg. // He has finished his homework. Se puede utilizar con adverbios como already (en frases afirmativas) y yet (en frases negativas e interrogativas). Tened cuidado con la posición de yet en la frase – ya que hay que situarlo siempre al final: We have already tidied the room. // We haven‟t tidied the room yet. // Has the plane landed yet? 3. Present Perfect para hablar de un pasado muy reciente (Present Perfect of recent past): Se utiliza acompañado de adverbios como recently, just, this morning (siempre y cuando todavía estemos en el mismo periodo temporal – por ejemplo: por la mañana) etc.: There has recently been an increase in the rate of unemployment. I have seen him this morning.

SUPERLATIVES

Appears when the adjective is quantified with very advervio quantity or suffixes:-Isimo, errimo

The quality of the adjective, appears thus in the highest degree of a scale Juan is the fastest. (Juan es el más rápido.) Angela'a room is the cleanest. (La habitación de Angela es la más limpia.) New York is the biggest city in the United States Nota: Si el adjetivo es posesivo, no se usa "the". Además no se usa "the" si comparamos algo con si mismo. Ejemplos: His smartest student is Lisa. (Su estudiante más lista es Lisa.) New York is coldest in January. (Nueva York es más frío en enero.)

QUESTIONS WITH HOW + ADJECTIVE ‌?

EJEMPLOS "How long" is also used with the verbs "is" and "are" to know the length of something. Look at the examples: Example: How long is the pipeline? pipeline.gif Other adjectives used with "How": How wide is the bed? = What is the width of the bed? 7wide-s.jpg

How deep...? = What is the depth of...? 5deep-s.jpg

How big...? = What is the size of...? How tall...? = What is the height of...? How far...? = What is the distance...? How high...? = What is the height of...?

How do we measure length? In the USA, we still use inches, feet, yards, and miles:

1 inch = 2.54 cm 1 foot = 30.48 cm 1 yard = 914 cm 1 mile = 1.6 km

NOTA: When we speak about objects, buildings, for example, we can ask "How high is it?", but it is not possible to ask "how high" a person is when speaking about dimensions. We use a a different adjective beginning with a "t"!

CHRIST THE REDEEMER – BRAZIL

The statue of Cristo Redentor or Christ Corcovado is a 38 meter image of Jesus of Nazareth , not counting the pedestal of 8 meters, with open arms showing the city of Rio de Janeiro , Brazil. It is located 710 meters above sea level in the Tijuca National Park , atop the Corcovado Mountain . It was inaugurated on October 12, 1931 , after about five years of work . Considered the world 's largest Art Deco statue , is recognized as one of New Seven Wonders of the World with Machu Picchu, the Great Wall of China, Rome's Colosseum , the Taj Mahal, and Petra Chichén Itzá . It is the only species that has not been declared a World Heritage Site , the latest and the most voted of the seven in the election. Christ the Redeemer is one of the major tourist attractions in Brazil , and retains almost like the first day it was shown . Celebrating its 80 years of its opening (2011 ) an exhibition that traces the history of the monument and , especially , how this statue has become a reference point for Brazilian and inspiration for artists was held . Corcovado is, with its 710 meters high, a vantage point for the common tourist, who can see the entire city of Rio de Janeiro , and to the believers a place of pilgrimage

HISTORY Before 1921 veranda on Corcovado Mountain was already a tourist attraction in Rio de Janeiro important , including the Corcovado Railway opened in 1884 by Emperor Pedro II of Brazil .

Mirador at the top of Corcovado Mountain . The idea of a religious monument in Rio de Janeiro was born in 1859 , the Catholic priest Pedro Maria Boss and Princess Isabel of Brazil . However, the idea did not materialize during the Empire of Brazil . Was revived in 1921, when the centenary of the Independence of Brazil was approaching . Hector da Silva Costa was delegated to project execution , and the statue was made by French sculptor Paul Landowski . The reinforced concrete construction , over 1000 tons combines engineering, architecture and sculpture, and has among its achievements the fact that nobody died in accidents during construction , which was unusual at the time and with projects of this size . By construction conditions , on a basis in which barely fit the scaffold , with strong winds , and the structure of the statue, whose arms extend into the vacuum and the head is tilted at an engineering challenge , Levy called the work of " Herculean " .

I remember Mom always said that family came first , and everything was done for the family forever. That love of ours, we marked my brothers and me. The family always in the foreground can not be impersonated by anything or anyone. I remember when my brother took a fancy to a girl from the neighborhood. Mom was furious when told that he wanted to go live with her. Screamed at all hours and was crazy . It made my brother understand that we, we were his great and unique family. No one else was joining . Because nobody could supplant . My brother took a fancy to Adele and wanted to go home. ! Poor Adeleappeared one day in the gutter. The car had been hit . We went to his funeral all the brothers and mom and dad. It was very sad. His parents did not stop mourn . Life is sometimes so sad .... ! My brother ran out girlfriend and never entered her want to go live with another girl. I never understood that, but the name of Adele could not rule at home, since my brother started kicking and punching everything and how mom was locked in his room for days. I , which was small, was commissioned to take water and something to eat and always cried watching it locked . I asked to please not angry , so he could leave. But he was very stubborn , and whenever he left his name was historia.El the same time, was responsible for my brother , forget your one and only love and desviviera by his family, as we were taught.

One day, mom and dad organized in the home garden , a barbecue with all our friends and neighbors. Came a lot of people, both as a mom dad were very dear in the neighborhood and we had many friends. It was a beautiful and joyous holiday. My middle sister , Gladys , was all the time with his old school . Dad did not remove eye on them and shook his head smiling. We played basketball on the court and the neighbor was an unforgettable day . By midafternoon , it began to get dark and all the first drops , all shouting and smiling were going home riding a tremendous din . Chillรกbamos and shouted escapรกndonos rain . We were going to in all , with drinks and dishes. Dad was in the garden picking up chairs and tables. When came the poor seemed very tired. All were inside dancing to the music. Mom went to look and gave her a kiss on the neck , shook hands and I started to dance while we made fun of them all behind . But that day was unforgettable. Gladis friend disappeared. A midnight knock on the door of his parents home in despair, and went all around the neighborhood with flashlights, shouting the name of Frankkkkkkkkk , as if life were we on it. We never heard from him. Sometimes we would make them visit their parents. We were all together and mom took them some cake. They kept looking everywhere but no one knew anything about him . Perhaps he had kidnapped a band of very bad people ! . Dad and mom said that the world was lost, people had no values or principles. " The family has to stay together forever. 's Family comes first and the main thing ." Dad and mom yes they are good .

The years went by and we remained always united . Mom and Dad were our axis on which we turned all . Remained our engine. It was a summer in which he did a lot of heat. It was a hot aplastante.Ni had lizards in the garden. The shoes we stuck to the asphalt and

chorreabamos sweat every day. We put everything on the sprinklers in the gardens and go through some of them, and you approached aprovechabas to get wet . By midafternoon , used to fall a tremendous storm . It was that sticky summer heat, where it seems that even the birds can live . Where in the afternoon, is not a soul on the street, because the temperature is around 45 degrees. But despite the heat , dad was always working in the basement. Mom always told us we had to spoil him because he worked all hours and for us. By our union and our salvation in the afterlife .

It was just this summer, when I heard it out of the Church, two old ladies say that the FBI was coming to try to clarify some disappearances. Mom and Dad did not listen and said that was nonsense old ladies , but we were nervous thinking if we could find those cops on the street and we were asking questions . The kids were rowdy and nervous about this event . We recognized right away , were some men in white shirt and sunglasses, always with a cigarette in his mouth and straight face. They asked questions and everyone ... We were going to be no less ! All the kids wanted us to ask us and we approached , shouting around them , as the sun beat down on our heads , and our bodies gave off a smell smelly sweat glands sign of puberty . Our faces grains to explode , red heat , the officers shouted "Ask a miiiiiiiiiiiii miiiiiiiiii to " " . The cops looked at that group of kids well , scorched by heat and sweating , screaming like chimpanzees in full breeding season. Our shouts and screams frightened the police and we were disappointed that we did not ask anything. I remember going with my short dress yellow flowers, hair and sweat puddles I fell over his forehead and mustache. I approached disillusioned home to tell Dad that the police were in the village. Dad was in the garage and I go in to tell him that we were all disappointed . Dad was working and saw me enter. He had a saw in his hand and was stained. His pants and shirt were filthy and there was an overwhelming smell in the basement. I watched as Dad walked into a room I did not know . I walked slowly without him to hear me , we were forbidden to go down there . Dad was there with mom. They looked tired and dirty . I looked through the crack in the door. Dad put something on the ground and threw lime on it . Mom said with lime not smell bad. Dad saw me and his face changed . Mom came up to me and told me to leave immediately for outside that smelled so bad , they were throwing lime pit house that had estropeado.Creo espaquetis kepchu and we ate the previous night ,because Dad and Mom were stained kepchu to the ears ! Mom told me to go to the garden, they were working for the family. He closed the door quietly .

That hot summer was drawing to a close . Mom and Dad fixed the tank and the smell of rotting dead cat and hen pee magically evaporated with lime . The summer sweats began to give way to winter jackets and with them a new season. Autumn . And with it came new cases , while they remained our family more united than everFinal del formulario
