The Autumnal months saw us out tackling the roads. We were able to see an impressive 145 different brokers in this period, from the Scottish highlands to down in delightful Devon, and we were welcomed everywhere we went on our travels.

Robin September Way back in the dying embers of the Summer, we set off straight from the Summer holiday break to see you all over the country. We were even able to jet up to Scotland to hold meetings as far north as Fraserburgh.

We also took to London for a night of ‘arras with Titan Insurance.

Tungsten at the ready, we had a fun night of darting action at Flight Club, Shoreditch. It was great to get members of both teams together to share in an enjoyable evening.

Football North of the Border

Despite major flight delays at Stansted Airport, Robin jetted up to Glasgow for a tantalising Euro 2020 Football qualifying face-off between Scotland & Belgium.

Happily joined at the game by Stephen Davidson of Integrity Insurance, Scotland were taught a footballing lesson by one of the best international sides out there. Despite the disappointing result (a 4-0 loss!) we had a pleasurable evening, taking in Glasgow city centre’s night life and a fine, historic football stadium in Hampden Park.

October The month of ghouls and ghosts saw us heading in every ‘Witch’ way around the country. We were happily met for a fine lunch overlooking the Thames in Wapping by Mark Lee & Steven Jones of Wesleyan Insurance. We also were able to see you in places across the country as varied as beautiful Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the North East; and one of the highlights of Britain’s South Coast, Brighton.

Giddy Up For Warwick Races

We were delighted to be joined by 25 guests for a tremendous day at Warwick Races. Warwick was a fine course and setting, and the entertainment lived up to the billing for the day.

Hopefully a few of us missed the ‘absolute cert’ in the last, Truckers Pass, which despite the betting expert assuring everyone was ‘guaranteed money’, came in second by a nose.

We were also eager to explore the city itself in the evening, all culminating in a fine Indian meal at Saffron Gold.

Heat appeared to be their speciality, pushing a few of us to our culinary limits!

November November saw a manic month here at ABACUS, with events and visits all over the place.

We were joined by Seb Phelps of First2Protect for some Stateside action, the NFL at Wembley as the Jacksonville Jaguars took on the Houston Texans. Whilst the game itself was somewhat one-sided, that did not dampen our spirits of a fine day taking in something a bit different at the iconic Wembley Stadium.

We were absolutely delighted to see so many of you at the recent Broker EXPO at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry. We had our Pick n’ Mix at the ready, and it was a superb exhibition. We were able to greet passers-by at the stand as well as hold more in-depth reviews with some of our Key brokers.

We also hosted a fine evening following the EXPO at the Almanack in nearby Kenilworth. The drink and conversation flowed, a fine way to unwind and finish off a busy day at Broker EXPO. We didn’t rest there. Robin & Richard meeting a few of the First2Protect team in Taunton for another fine days horse racing.

Taunton itself was the perfect location, and the evening out in Taunton town centre proved to be just as entertaining as the day at the races.

November Curry in the Capital The Curry Club Returns!

2019 has seen the return and revivial of the much fabled London Curry Club! Some of you may remember the magic of the old Curry Club days (last held in 2012); and on Thursday 28th November 2019, that magic was brought back to our nation’s capital.

We were fortunate to be joined by so many of you on the night, with 35 brokers filling our VIP area at Devonshire Terrace, Devonshire Square. The night was full of both old memories of London Curry Clubs past, and about making new memories this year.

We then headed to Rajasthan III in Houndsditch for what was an immaculately served, delicious curry.

The night went on into the early hours for a few of us. The 35 brokers that joined us, be they Curry Club veterans or Curry Club virgins, all had a night to cherish and remember for years to come.
