It is important to acknowledge the working team and respect their efforts. All the other detail information is used to make the viewers clear about what they are looking at and the designers easy to work with by referring to different pieces of drawings.

Yes, there is a grid on the drawing. Number 1 to 16 and letter A to E are labeled horizontally and vertically to identify the grid lines. This makes it easier for viewers to locate certain points in different scales - Why is some information found in General Notes?

General Notes provides targets for certain professionals to search to disciplinary parts of the working drawings.

DRAWING CONTENT - PLANS

- What type of information is shown in this floor plan?

- Grid map - Materials - Door ways - Codes (refer to other drawings) - Basic annotation - Level (Ground level) - Main Structural Elements - Scale

- Is there a grid? What system is used for identifying the grid lines?

- What is the purpose of the legend?

Referable. It explains the abbreviations used in the pictures or the maps. Therefore it does not look messy in the drawings and provides information at the same time.

- Why are some parts of the drawing annotated? Illustrate how the annotations are associated with the relevant part of the drawing.

Annotations in the drawing provide more specific details on particular design which is not referable to general legend. They also help professionals to be conscious about some small details - Illustrate how the locations of sections are identified on the plan. What do these symbols mean?

Locations of sections are identified on the plan by the dash line’s call-outs. The symbols are used to refer to another drawings that the details for the section are provided

- Illustrate how references to other drawings are shown on the plan. What do these symbols mean?

- Illustrate how floor levels are noted on the plan?

There are staircases shown on the ground floor plan indicating by arrows.

The floor level is also indicated by the title block at the right corner of the drawings.

- Are some areas of the drawing clouded?

Why? The symbol is divided into two parts. For example, A10.08 represents for the drawing number on the right corner in the title block.

This section part is referring to the A10.08 drawing. Number 2 stands for the number of the detail drawings on the A10.08 drawing piece.

- How are windows and doors identified?

Provide and example of each. Is there a rationale to their numbering? What do these numbers mean? Can you find the answer somewhere in the drawings?

Some areas of the drawing clouded because those areas have been changed somehow.

- What type of information is shown in this elevation? How does it differ from the information shown on the plan?

- Floors - Ceilings - Grid

This screenshot shows how the windows and doors are identified to DG and WG.

- Annotation - Material - Construction types - Structural system - Are dimensions shown? If so, how do they differ from the dimensions on the plan?

Provide an example of the dimensions as they relate to the elevation.

There is a rationale to their numbering. In a certain area, the numbers seem to be continuous. Also different numbers help to identify when refer to other detail drawings.

Yes, dimensions are shown on elevation drawings. However they differ from the dimensions on the plan.

- What types of information on the elevations are expressed using words? Illustrate how this is done.

The dimensions of elevation drawings are labeled in boxes and showing the height of the building whereas the dimensions of plan only show the length and width of the building.

- What types of levels are shown on the elevations? Illustrate how levels are shown in relation to the elevation.

The levels of the building such as ground level, first level and second level are shown on the elevations indicating by rows of windows. It is the version that visitors have at first.

- Is there a grid? If so, how / where is it shown?

The materials used for specific parts and details for specific parts referring to other drawings are illustrated by few words so it is clear for people.

Yes, there is a grid. Only the row of numbers of the grid are shown right above the building elevation drawings. It can be refer back to grid on plan drawings.

They are illustrated by certain patterns and symbols - WG, DG - Are any parts of the elevation clouded?

Why?

Yes, the colorbond part is clouded because this part of design has been changed.

- Is there a legend? What does it identify and how is it used?

There is not a proper legend area but things are illustrated beside the symbols

- Illustrate where this elevation is located in relation to the plan?

- What type of information is shown in this section? How does it differ from the information shown on the plan and elevation?

Similar information to elevation is shown in this section but more interior design and structural system such as footing and foundation of the building are illustrated to make it differ in a complex way from the information shown on the plan and elevation.

- Are dimensions shown? If so, how do they differ from the dimensions on the elevation?

The dimensions shown on sections are pretty much the same as the ones on elevations but they include parts under ground level.

- What types of information on the sections are expressed using words? Illustrate how this is done.

- Materials used - structural elements (beam) - allocations for spaces such as kitchenette, student lounge

DRAWING CONTENT – DETAILS

- What sorts of things are detailed?

The parts that connected the structural elements together, usually secondary structural elements are detailed.

- Are the details compressed using break lines? Why? Yes. Usually to show details need to zoom in certain parts and the scale will change. The break lines are used to cut of unnecessary parts for showing details.

- Illustrate how the section drawing differentiates between building elements that are cut through and those that are shown in elevation (beyond).

Elevation shows the exterior appearance of a building such as windows, doors and roof whereas Section focus on structural elements such as beams, slabs, footings and foundation.

- Provide examples of how different materials are shown on the sections.
