belgrave reme m b ra n c e Belgrave Rememberance is a future naturalistic cemetery located in Belgrave, Victoria, Australia. As a Cemetery from the Age of Uncertainty, it is designed to address the issues of certainty - carbon footprints caused by traditional cemeteries, preserve historical values of the chosen site and to eradicate the ghostly perceptions of cemeteries. The project is tailored to integrate and protect the selected landscape system of Belgrave - vegetation and water, from the rapid urbanisation in the area, whilst celebrating the lives of past Belgrave residents. Belgrave Remembrance embraces the diversity of religions in its community by catering to different burial types, however would especially encourage natural burial and commemoration of the deceased with native tree planting, creating habitats for the wildlife in the area.

untit l e d Untitled is a project located at the southern part of Yarra Bend Park. In response to the loss of ecology due to the construction of the Eastern Freeway, we decided to restore the ecology by isloating a land for rejuvenation and to create a safe haven for the biodiversity of Yarra Bend Park. The project starrs an artificial island, made by rechanneling of Yarra River, will deconstruct and reconstruct itself over time. It also aims to show the shifting of landform and the impact it has on its surroundings. The old river channel will be intentionally left to die to turn into a billabong which will eventually join the bank of Yarra Boulevard. It will also feature a concrete structure which functions changes as it transects through time. In the first year, it will act as a habitat for the animals in the site. Each pillar has a hole that is like a birdhouse. This structure will then start to trap sediments over time due to the small gaps between the pillars which will speed up the process of river dying. Lastly, when the island has fully eroded, the structure will be partially buried in the soil and act as a bridge to bring people to explore the mature island.
union Union is a research project which studies and aims to bring out the hidden identity of Melbourne’s Chinatown @ Little Bourke St. Throughout the study, a notable difference between Melbourne’s Chinatown and the other Chinatowns around the world is that it does not showcase as much of the Chinese culture on the streets. Instead, much of this Chinatown identity has been tucked away behind the Victorian shophouses facade. In order to respond to the issues without any permenant physical alteration to the site, a temporary event; the Mid-Autumn Festival, was to be held to bring out the customs and kindred spirit of the Chinese community. In research process, there were cross studies of Chinatowns all over the world, the study of spatial relations in urban context, and how (Asian/ Western) culture influences its local design plans. Also using a mapping method founded by Drawing Architecture Studio, it was interesting to uncover the characteristics of Chinatown that were often overlooked.
