ecause of Taiwan’s low birth rate. Many old people and there’s children are not living together. That makes many elderly living alone. This is an important social issue also the future that everyone must to face. As early as 1993, the proportion of elderly people in Taiwan reached 7%, making it an “ageing” society. This rate is expected to reach 14% by 2018, when it will become an “aged” society. By 2025, more than 20% of the population will cross the threshold, making Taiwan a “super-aged” society, where one in every five people will be elderly. Between turning from “ageing” to “aged”, Taiwan only has 25 years, which is a much faster transition than Germany’s 40 years, the United Kingdom’s 47 years, the United States’ 72 years and France’s 127 years. Even more surprising is that the transition from “aged” to “super-aged” is estimated to only take 7 years in Taiwan, which is much faster than Europe and the United States’ 20 to 50 years, as well as faster than all East Asian countries.

bout 35 years ago, Taiwan’s “old-age dependency ratio” was 6.9%, meaning that every 14.5 young adults needed to support one elderly person. However, this figure had more than doubled to 16.2% by 2014, meaning that every 6.2 young adults needed to care for one elderly person. It is estimated that in 2061, 45 years from now, this will surge to 81.4%, when every 1.2 young adults will need to bear the weight of one elderly person, such that the ratio will be close to 1:1. Such a trend is closely related to a “low birth rate”. In 2061, it is expected that the number of young people under 15 will have reduced by 1.7 million and the number of young and middle-aged people by 8.31 million. On the contrary, the elderly population will increase by 4.54 million, among whom a large proportion of people with disabilities will be in need of full-time care.

rovide disability facilities to attract elderly who love tourism. Interest hotel design also can make more elderly travel. So I want to design a community type hotel with barrier-free facilities by renovation an old hotel building. Let the elderly experience barrier free lifestyle. Let my hotel become a model type hotel. Promote the design or facilities they used.To change there mind. Maybe after the tour they can buy these facilities to make a safety life. And that connect with another issue. "Lonely elderly issue"
To solve the problem of lonely elderly. I want to combine hotel and semi opened interaction space for nearby elderly. Let elderly come to make friends from all over the world .

Barrier-free and Universal Design From Barrier-free to Universal Design: What is Universal Design? • Including everyone in the society • Impact of rapid ageing • Design in essence should include everyone •Nobady should been excluded. Difference between BF and UD • BF - Originated from the concern for people with disabilities - Effort to remove barriers • UD - Is a new paradigm - Providing accessible and usable environments from the beginning, not refurbishing afterwards Six Essential Requirements of Good Design • Safety: legally binding • Accessibility: more users are suffering • Usability: fit to individuals • Affordability: value for money • Sustainability: environmental issue • Aesthetics: designers' domain
Hotel definition
B
efore there was the word ‘hotel’ there was the word accommodation or places for travelers, which has a more extensive meaning than the word ‘hotel’. However, the hotel is the accommodation for travelers who wish have lodging through payment to the proprietor. The accommodation refers to a temporary lodging, where travelers may rest and take a sleep. The accommodation is a prime significant for the traveling, which is important for the people, economically, culturally, and socially. This might be an endemic style or a modern style, depending on the surrounding. This conduces a diversity of accommodation formats. Therefore, the lodging has many types and many prices, with a variety ofrequired conveniences.

omestic hotels can be divided into "sightseeing hotels" and "general hotels", while tourist hotels are divided into "international sightseeing hotels" and "general sightseeing hotels". In the Sightseeing Regulations, the international tourist hotel in the sightseeing hotel is basically the same as the general tourist hotel. However, the size of the room, the kitchen area of the restaurant, and the number of people in the elevator are different. As far as the room is concerned, the number of rooms in international and general tourist hotels needs to be more than 30. There are different rules for the net area of more than 60% of the rooms. The area of single rooms for international tourist hotels must be 13 square meters, 19 square meters for double rooms and 32 square meters for suites. The average single room, double room and suite of the general tourist hotel are 10 square meters, 15 square meters and 25 square meters. The area of the kitchen regulations for dining is also different. For example, the catering area is less than 1500 square meters. The kitchen area of the international tourist hotel is not less than 33% of the dining area, while the kitchen area of the general tourist hotel is not less than 30%.

T
his two-storey third-story home on the ground floor of an old Hummelkaserne pavilion rises in a part of the city with a very diverse urban environment. The home is compact and has a square shape, with asymmetric cuts that serve to divide the House into its spatial concept of eight community dwellings, four on each floor. They are grouped around a central patio that stretches from one side to the other of the first floor and is part of a covered terrace. At right angles to these two public spaces, two gardens just for residents section the building. Other open spaces include the four atriums on the second floor as well as direct access to the public park planned by the city of Graz, east of the premises.
E
ach housing community consists of the dorms, kitchen and a dining area for 13 residents and a nurse, generating a manageable and familiar atmosphere. Large balconies and galleries, as well as a variety of paths and views throughout the other parts of the house set a stimulating ambiance. Each community was developed around a different color concept to help residents orient themselves better. The rooms vary slightly in relation to their location and the direction they are orientated, but each room has a large window with a low heated railing that can serve as a bench. The nursing rooms are located in the core of each building, ensuring that they are only a few steps from each resident and that the house can operate efficiently.
O
n the floor plan, the designer uses many levels boards to make space change. Define different spaces according to different levels. But the special things is they used the empty space at the most hierarchical level.

Case 2 Housing for Elderly People France 2018 Main material: Red brick
T
his housing for elderly people is located on the banks of the Rhine. The exceptional situation of the site allowed us to turn the common areas and the hall towards the river: the residents can enjoy the choreography of passing boats. The programme consists of twenty-five fifty-square-meter homes, a restaurant in three sections, a computer room, a hobby workshop, a vegetable garden and a petanque field. Everything is organised to foster relations among the residents. Collective living spaces are as generous as possible, with abundant natural light. We have designed places that encourage exchanges and social interaction. Encounter-inviting events and sequences punctuate the routes.
T
he staircase stands at the centre of the building, rendering it unavoidable. In combination with the wide central space, it invites mobility. Upstairs, the patio brings light from the south into the heart of the building. The white volume inside seems suspended; it deconstructs the empty space and lends a certain strangeness to the whole.
B
ecause this case is a housing for elderly. So the space function of the room will be more than the function of the hotel room.
The special room design is you can watch the living room from bedroom but can't see the living room from the bedroom. Consider the low strench elderly. Designers use curtains instead of doors to separate public and private spaces bathroom kitchen public space

Introduction
Site:West Central Dist., Tainan City
Tainan History
A
s Taiwan's oldest urban area, Tainan was initially established by the Dutch East India Company as a ruling and trading base called Fort Zeelandia during the period of Dutch rule on the island. After Dutch colonists were defeated by Koxinga in 1661, Tainan remained as the capital of the Tungning Kingdom until 1683 and afterwards the capital of Taiwan Prefecture under Qing Dynasty rule until 1887, when the new provincial capital was moved to Taipei. Tainan has been historically regarded as one of the oldest cities in Taiwan, and its former name, Tayouan, has been claimed to be the origin of the name "Taiwan". It is also one of Taiwan's cultural capitals, for its rich folk cultures including the famous local street food and traditional cuisine, extensively preserved Taoist rites and other living local traditions covering everything from child birth to funerals. The city houses the first Confucian school–temple in Taiwan, built in 1665, the remains of the Eastern and Southern gates of the old city, and countless other historical monuments. Tainan claims more Buddhist and Taoist temples than any other city in Taiwan.
T
ainan is the earliest development place in Taiwan's history. Therefore, thay have the famous and most temple in Taiwan. As my main client "pilgrimage people" it is suitable for travel destinations in Tainan. Reasons for choosing the West Central Dist because the population ageing and population concentration are above the average of Tainan, it is also fit my topic to solve the problem of the elderly issue.

SITE
Pros & Cons Pros *Close to three famous temple in Tainan. Attracting into pilgriming people for tourism planning *There is mostly business area around. Because Tainan's urban usage is early. The sitewalk planning complete. It makes elderly walk around convenient. *The site is a really famous restaurant and it also a memory for local people. So they will gather here to chat naturally. *The old entrance of my site is in the alley. It is a memory for the local people. So I can keep the old entrance to disperse visiter flow.
Cons *A-Sha hotel evolved by the times. End the part of hotel because of the suitable for economic conditions. So I want to re-revive the function of hotel. *The main client for A-Sha hotel's restaurant is only old client and few tourist. So I want to reconstruction A-Sha hotel to attract more people here. *There is no parking lot for my site. It's really inconvenient. *There is no space suitable for elderly near the site. The nearest park also needs to pass the roundabout. That's very dangerous.

The Introduction Of A-SHA Hotel
I
n 1940, one simple small food stand was located on Zhong-Yi Road in Tainan city. The owner of the food stand, Ms. Wu, had perfectly satisfied every consumer in her food stand at that time by providing her praiseworthy private home cuisine and her being attentive to her guests. Those various private home cuisine with fine reputation created the well-known restaurant next to the Tainan Tiangong Temple. In 2015, the 3rd-generation successor has been inheriting Ms. Wu’s praiseworthy private home cuisine and combining highly professional service to run this restaurant. To pay tribute to the founder, the successor had named the restaurant with the meaning of “Splendid and Rosy”. “Splendid” represents happiness and achievement; “Rosy” represents the hope of success between old generation and new generation, just like the amazing rosy sky brightened the earth. This interprets perfectly the alternation of generations; the traditional old restaurant is inherited by the new generation. Therefore, the restaurant “Jin Xia” is formed newly. The founder’s spirit and principle, “fine delicacies, attitude of being attentive to our guests” are strictly remained the same in new generation. No matter it is one simple meat dish or expensive delicacies, our attitude to food remains the same highly professional, our attitude to our guests remains the same sincere and attentive consistently.

T
he inability to move around safely is a major inconvenience for many seniors. This means, therefore, that simple tasks such as taking a bath, moving from one floor to the next, or even getting out of your favorite chair in the living room, may become an impossible task. It is what leads to many people ‘accepting’ the situation in which they find themselves. Therefore, I think a 2-4 day trip through the experience of accommodation can just make visitor feel the benefits of barrier-free facilities The combination of public facilities and outdoor space in the hotel allows users to come to my hotel not only for accommodation but also for them to go home with these experiences and promote the popularization of the facilities of love without disabilities in a guiding way.

y referring to the analysis of the characteristics of the living space of the elderly, the discussion of relevant regulations, and the operational space needs of the elderly, this paper discusses the relationship between the use of the living space and the users' needs for the living space based on the interaction between the users and the living space. According to the characteristics of the living space in the maintenance institutions, it is divided into dormitory space, bathroom space, food data processing area, storage space, public space and outdoor space.

According to the three categories of dependent degree, which are completely independent without appliance, independent to control the rotary chair, and dependent on the help from the caregivers, the spatial requirements of each activity are discussed according to the nursing operation mode, and then the spatial dimensions required by the elderly with different dependent degrees are concluded.
(1) Movement:
N
o matter what type of movement is required, the elderly must move from the bed. Therefore, it should be considered that the appropriate height of the bed should be 45-50cm, the distance between the bed and adjacent bed should be at least 90cm, and the net width of the bed tail channel should be at least 90cm for the bed tail rotary chair, so as to provide the elderly with the sole control of the rotary chair. The width of the channel at the end of the bed should be enlarged to 120cm if the elder has to be moved with the help of the caregiver and the distance between the bed and the adjacent bed must be 120cm wide. The width of the bed should be 90cm, or the bed path of the disabled with unilateral hemiplegia cannot be provided (if facing the head of the bed, the disabled with hemiplegia on the left side should use the right limb to go to bed or the left side of the bed). For the bathroom, the door must be at least 80cm wide, with a minimum rotary chair diameter of 120 cm, or 170 cm if accompanied by a caregiver.

(2) Bathroom facility: use barrier-free bathroom dimension standard. Design sliding door entrance room toilet considerations to the wheelchair users must comply with the width of the wheelchair radius of gyration. Including outdoor sidewalk, indoor aisle, entrance and exit, ramp, armrest, lifting equipment, roller chair lifting platform...etc.
(3) Visual enhancement: With the growth of age, people's vision and vision gradually produce a variety of changes. Make the elderly need more lighting to read. Elderly need a long time to adapt to sudden changes in light or can not adapt to the near things can not see clearly and see things from afar. In addition, the field of vision gradually narrowed, unable to distinguish between foreground or background, etc., these visual or visual defects are the first to affect the elderly no longer read Then it will affect the independence and safety of the elderly. How to compensate for the loss of vision or vision so that the elderly can live a safe and comfortable life These methods include increasing illumination and avoiding astigmatism, enlarging images, and enhancing contrast. (4) Barrier-free tools: • No steps into rooms • Door Widths • D type door handles • Circulation space in the corridor • Uncluttered furniture layout • Cupboard height and reach • Table heights • Bed heights • Switch and handle locations • Mirror location • Need for adequate shower chair or bench • Location of handrails • Toilet height (5) outdoor design: Ramps are used in the walkways instead of stairs. Ramps for the disabled are set at appropriate distances. The entrance and exit of the rest seats are unobstructed and wide enough to meet the use specifications The parking space is provided with barrier-free parking space and the sidewalk conforms to the size of barrier-free scale

FEEDBACK SUGGEST 1.Study more history about Tainan to connect the design. 2.Think about the size of site is appropriate to design a hotel 3.Compare differient hotels type to define the hotel nature design. 4.Think about the difference between barrier-free design and universal design. 5.Emphasize differences from other hotels. Such as barrier-free ramps and facilities. 6.The reasons for rebuilding the A-SHA hotel need to be reinforced. 7.Flow design can connect to concept. 8.Think about the connect between building, outdoor area and user.
