Research shows that the elder prefers to live in an old place instead of new building, and the elder is willing to younger elements into their lives. Why is student? With the improvement of the education system in China, the student population in the future will be an important group in China. For students, short campus life cannot experience the local culture, and communication with the locals. Students live in a heritage area, who would be easier to understand the local culture. By 90s, Beijing Hutong had been protected better than recently. There was not too much reconstruction in Beijing hutong. In Xicheng District, for example, nearly 200 hutongs out of the 820 it held in 1949 have disappeared. The government plane to built a Beijing’s culture and history city & Underground mall which is replaced by the Beijing courtyard in this are. The courtyards and Hutong, close to Gulou, have been destroyed by the authority, which has replaced by underground and square

Beijing is one of the oldest cities in the world, which is a centrally-planned city. Beijing’s historic residential sections become increasingly been redeveloped under the Weigai system. The historic urban fabric has disappeared. The historic grid pattern is replaced by a network of wide and modern roads that meet the demand of the transportation. Major road in Beijing has bisected neighborhoods, and the communication of neighborhoods simply fades away. And, The subtle architectural texture and spatial arrangement of the preceding centuries has been erased. The house of the future will be built on the existing historic building, which not only protects the heritage building, but also provide more living space.

The old alleyways and traditional-style buildings are disappearing, and the residents are often moved to remoter parts of the city. The historic grid pattern is superseded by a network of wide and modern roads that meet the demand of the transportation. The resulting loss of much of Beijing’s urban heritage has been almost universally recognized as regrettable. Taking the considerations of archaeologists, historians and the wider public into account, the government has in recent years decided to list an increasing number of Hutong (alley) sections as protected. The house of the future would build on the hutong area.

How it Protects Nature: By making us more aware that Sunlight is a finite resource and one day that it will run out, thus making us to think more about how we use Sunlight.

Concept: Group 4 is redefining the traditional louver with a series of dynamic recycled CD solar reflecting panels that not only protect us from sunlight, but also to commodify sunlight, making it a more valuable resource. The recycled CD louvers are mounted on a bamboo frame, and can be adjusted accordingly from behind with natural bamboo pulleys to reflect the sunlight during different times of the day. The sunlight reflected from the recycled CD panels will be projected on the faรงade of the Faculty building, with a multicoloured and 3 dimensional lighting display, it will provide a new dimension to sunlight that traditional louvers do not have the capabilities to highlight.

How it reconnects us with Nature: It helps us to reconnect with nature by allowing us to see sunlight in a new/different perspective, which with traditional louvers we would not be able to see.
