ARTISAN ACTIVITY SPCE/FABRIC COLOUR DRYING AREA
Shed A: Artisan’s Shop
fabric dye workshop
The significance of the building is linked with its use during the 1860s. Due to modifications the integrity of the shed has been compromised. The shelter sheds were generally of timber-framed construction with a timber shingle roof.
colour storage
tailors workshop
Shed B: Fabric Workshop The building was constructed in the1920s as the Electrician’s Workshop and further as the Tailor’s Workshop. The building retains its original form and much of its original fabric and architectural detailing. The shed forms part of an industrial precinct that represented a new phase for the hospital.
The shed will have an updated structural motif added inorder to respond to the new buildings surround it. The shed will house a cafe, artisan’s shop and showcase area as it is the first shed visitors will be likely to interact with
textile workshop
The program of this shed will be textile, dyeing, and tailoring where the community and experts can come together and learn. The facade will have an update with the structural motif which will be functional as storage and drying areas.

Shed C: Wood Workshop
Shed D: Artist Workshop
The building was constructed in the 1920s as a Plumber’s Workshop. The east end was constructed post-1943. The building appears to retain its original form and some of its original fabric and architectural detailing.
The building was constructed in the 1920s as a Fitter’s Workshop. The building appears to retain its original form and some of its original fabric and architectural detailing. The Workshop range reflects a new period for and development of the hospital complex.
The shed will need major renovations due to its condition so the roof will be replaced with a translucent sheeting with a steel structure to emulate the fabric being implemented across the site. The building will house wood working machines and be accessible to licensed users.
DETAIL PLAN OF C100C
As the central shed, the program will be a lot more community friendly and will contain an office as well as art stations depending on the occupation of the space at the time.
