New Miracle of Los Angeles/ Miracle Mile
The Urban Form
Los Angeles is an autopia with the typical suburb sprawl. Looking back to the history, Miracle Mile on Wilshire Boulevard was the first city centre outside L.A. Downtown. With the unique convenience and cityscape for automobile, it once enjoyed a great commercial success since 1940s. However, in this new century, Los Angeles, Wilshire Boulevard and Miracle Mile have to address the deteriorating transport system as well as the theme of sustainable development. Perhaps the new experiment of rapid transit could be conducted in Miracle Mile again, and will provide a new miracle for Los Angeles. This project ranges from the strategic urban planning to the detailed urban design, and focuses on the transportation, urban growth and city identity issues.
