AN EXHIBIT BY JILL LIN
AT MAD WORKS STUDIO FEATURED BY RICHMOND MASHUP
THIS IS NOT ABSTRACT. I WANT YOU TO UNDERSTAND ME. "THE EXPRESSION OF EMOTION IS NO LONGER CONSIDERED A WEAKNESS BUT A DESIRABLE HUMAN TRAIT TO WHICH EVERYONE CAN IMMEDIATELY RELATE." JOHN MAEDA
The latter part of this sentence immediately sums up the driving reason for this exhibit; the human desire for something in which everyone can relate to. In a world congested by abstractions and misunderstanding, I wanted to create an environment which focuses on taking seemingly complex human emotions and simplifying them in a way everyone can relate to. What was once a monologue carried inside my mind is now displayed publicly, waiting to become a dialogue based on the idea of shared human emotions through experiences. This is a reminder that although individual experiences are different- there is one underlying factor that serves as a foundation of familiarity, and that is the language of human emotion.
