n September 15th, Guatemala celebrates its independence from Spain (page 22). Among other festivities, the day is celebrated with fireworks and parades, exemplifying the Chapín love of a boisterous good time. It’s the day when the school marching bands, which we’ve been hearing practice over the past few months, finally get to show off their talent! Be sure to head to Calle Ancha on Independence Day so you can enjoy the parade and then to Parque Central for more excitement. If you’re looking for a fun way to spend a day, go watch The Antigua Guatemala Fútball Club that is currently battling it out on the field at Estadio Pensativo for their fans. It’s great entertainment and a good day out for everyone!
