Jim Feldkamp hails from Roseburg, Oregon, and initiated his notable career trajectory by securing a BS in Business from Oregon State University. This academic foundation paved the way for his entry into the U.S. Navy, where he served with distinction as a Naval Flight Officer. His roles included Counter-Measures Officer and Navigator aboard the EA-6B, an aircraft dedicated to electronic warfare, during pivotal moments such as Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm from the deck of the USS Midway in 1991. Following his Navy career, Jim ventured into federal law enforcement as a Special Agent with the FBI in Norfolk, Virginia. Here, he was instrumental in founding the Tidewater Joint Terrorism Task Force and conducted aerial surveillance missions, a crucial aspect of national security operations. His political aspirations led him to pursue a Congressional seat, running as the Republican candidate for Oregon's 4th Congressional District in 2004 and 2006. In 2007, James Feldkamp was recalled to active duty to aid in the creation of the office that would evolve into the National Maritime Intelligence-Integration Office (NMIO). His academic career also took shape during this period as he served as an adjunct professor at George Washington University, George Mason University, and Georgetown University, where he taught courses on domestic and international terrorism. His academic contributions include the authorship and editing of "Theory and Politics of Terrorism," a university textbook published by Cognella Academic Publishing. In his professional life, Jim Feldkamp has also been active as the Lead Consultant at Complete Threat Preparedness, Inc. since 2017, where he offers expert advice on safety and security protocols. Additionally, he lends his editorial skills to Reedsy, reviewing and editing works on terrorism and intelligence. His adventurous side is exemplified by his participation in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, navigating the challenging waters from 2018 to 2022.
