Humble Beginnings
Changes for New Hope's very first day in a small adobe room just outside of Huaraz
Shiqui, Macashca, Mejorarca, Cotoparaco, Recuay, Lima, Ticapampa, Yanama, Villa Hermosa, Rio Seco, Secsecpampa, Tinco, Pueblo Libre, Yungay, Vicos, Catac, Uco, Huari, Cajay, Huaraz, Huashao, Compina, Aija, Llacllin and Cochabamba. Strange sounding names but in all of those towns and villages are thousands of disadvantaged children numbering some 5000, that Changes for New Hope has reached over the last ten years.
The pages that follow, you will read about many of our groups and the efforts that have made their lives happier, healthier and provided opportunities that have enhanced their lives. Those that have selflessly contributed to make these successes possible, consider this special issue our heartfelt gratitude for your compassion in action together with us. Apathy is humanity's most profound humiliation. To quote Margaret Mead, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed it is the only thing that ever has."
