Climate change in Banks Island

In Banks Island they rely on the weather.

Now with climate change the sea doesn’t freeze over until month later than it should, this shows that the world is slowly getting warmer and has been for over the last thousands of years.

Also every year in Banks Island spring is getting earlier due to summer being warmer

The sea ice which apparently never melts is getting smaller and shrinking. It is also drifting further away from the coastline in the summer, taking seals with it, which the community rely on for food.

In winter time the sea-ice is getting thinner and is starting to brake which makes travel difficult for the most experienced hunters.

Also thunder and lightning is becoming more current

The hot weather in the summer is melting the permafrost in the soil causing a lot of slumping in the land.

The thawing has caused an inland lake to drain into the ocean, thus killing the freshwater fish that live in the sea.

In towns buildings are sinking due to the heat, some buildings are unsafe and cannot be used anymore.

New species of birds have arrived in Banks Island, including barn swallows and robins.

Salmon are arriving for the first time.

There all more flies and mosquitoes which are causing a lot of trouble as are very irritating and is harming the animals.

Climate change in Darfur

The climate change is causing damage to the agriculture in Darfur.

The heat is also affecting the wildlife, crops and livestock in Darfur.

The farmers are depending on rain to help the crops and grass grow but as the climate is changing and getting warmer, rain is less current.

It is too dry to grow any food or to look after animals, which poor families are depending on for food and money.

People in villages have dies due to hunger.

Many lives are at threat and the warmer it gets the more lives are at stake.

Dust storms are affecting many villages and killing a lot of people. The soil is being picked up from the ground and is spread throughout land.

Due to less farmland people have started to fight over land, making chaos.

•

This has started horrible wars and is killing thousands of people.

Climate change in Sunderbans

Most people in the country live on dry, flat land that is almost at sea level.

There are many farms that need rain to help to grow the crops

Also rain is needed for animal’s well-being and so if there isn’t any rain the animals will die out and the farmers can no longer make money and support their families.

Floods are happening more often and are wiping out houses and taking peoples lives.

The floods in the fast have destroyed three quarters of all the crops, leaving many families with no food for themselves or their children. This food supply was meant to last a year!

These floods are now happening more often than usual.

Many disasters have occurred over the past 100 years due to the change in climate.

Now after all of the disaster the government are having to plan to move people away from the lowest and flattest areas, leaving many people without a home.

Climate change in the South of Wales

The heat has affected the land, drying out the land making it a very unpleasant place to live.

The heat has made the south of wales one of the dries inhabited continent.

For the last 30 years up to 1980 the temperature was 0.5 degrees Celsius warmer than before.

Also the land is 50 millimetres drier than before.

Over the past for the 30 years up till 2010 the temperature has risen up 1 degree and the land is 50mm drier, this is an effect of climate change as the world is getting warmer.

In the summer the land is really hot and the land is really parched.

Bushes have started to set on fire because of the immense heat.

Before there have only been small fires but as the heat is increasing so is the size of the fires and they are becoming very dangerous and life threatening.

Hundreds of people have been trapped in their houses and burned to death due to the fires.

Climate change in St’ John’s

The weather is definitely warming up. To this part of the country this is a positive change.

It is now possible to reach Osaka in half the time it took 10 years ago because the North West passage has opened up

This has happened because there is no longer any ice there; the ice has gone due to the rise in temperature thus melting the ice.

Farmers aren’t doing well right now as the crops cannot grow and animals cannot be raised.

On the other side there aren’t enough warm months in the year to grow certain crops for example wheat.

Because of this spring is earlier, fall is later and you can grow more crops and sell it to make more money, this is a positive change for St’ John’s.

There is also more food for everyone, so poor families can survive.

Climate change in the UK

Temperatures have risen in the United Kingdom by 1 degree Celsius since 1970.

Extreme floods are occurring in the UK due to the change in climate.

Winters are getting colder and summers are getting warmer.

Floods are getting worse and many lives are under threat.

Many people are being trapped in their own homes due to flooding and have to be saved by firemen.

Farming and crops will be affected by changes in weather throughout the UK which could impact on the types of crop grown, where they are grown and their availability, this will affect the farmers lives as they cannot sell the crops for money and can no longer support their families.

Some birds, fish and land animals are under threat as their environment is changing due to temperature changes throughout the past few years.

Some of these species and animals will not be able to adapt to these changes in their new environment.

The plants, trees and shrubs that can grow in the UK will change due to the difference in temperature.

Summary I believe that Darfur is the most damaged by climate change as many farmers are affected the rise in temperatures, this is because: •

The crops can no longer grow properly

There is no rain to help give the animals a drink.

All of these products can be sold for money

Now that they cannot be grown or sold the farmers do not gain any money.

They also cannot support their families.

The soil is being picked up and turned into dust storms which are taking many lives of innocent people.

Because of the lack of farm land people have started to fight

This problem has started terrifying wars.

As the food cannot be grown people have died of

These are all reasons why I this area is affected by change the most.
