OUR FAVE CHRISTMAS MOVIES: Home Alone is a classic movie from 1990. It is about a young boy named Kevin McCallister who is left behind when his family goes on a holiday. At first he loves it but then 2 burglars try to steal from his house. Being the crafty troublemaker he is, Kevin manages to find creative and entertaining ways to deal with the burglars.

Elf is a family comedy starring Will Ferrell. The story is about a child who is adopted by Santa and is raised as an elf, however, his entire life he has felt different from the other elves and one day he embarks on a journey to find his real dad.

Jingle all the way is one of our favourite Christmas movies. It’s about a father who forgot to get the Turbo Man action doll for his son leaving him to face every parent’s nightmare… last minute shopping. It’s a rollercoaster of fun watching him try everything to get this toy for his son, he will stop at nothing, even if it means fighting Santa with candy cane nun chucks.

Character Profiles: Spider-Man

Bitten by a radioactive spider, Peter Parker’s arachnid abilities give him amazing powers he uses to help others, while his personal life continues to offer plenty of obstacles.

J. Jonah Jameson

Is the editor of The Daily Bugle and mainly focuses on the reporting of crime vigilantes. He believes Mysterio is a hero and SpiderMan is a menace to society.

Doctor Strange

Happy Hogan

Doctor Strange is the Sorcerer Supreme and a master of the Mystic Arts. Originally a neurosurgeon, Strange now is the protector of the New York Sanctum as well as Earth’s protector from any new inter-dimensional threats.

Happy is one of Tony Starks closest friends and is head of security at Stark Industries. Hogan oversaw Stark’s mentorship over Spider-Man and helped Peter Parker fight the Elementals in Europe.

Wong

Wong assisted Stephen Strange with his studies within Kamar-Taj and now stands with him protecting the New York Sanctum. MJ (Michelle Jones)

MJ is a student at Midtown School of Science & Technology. MJ figured out Peter Parker’s identity was Spider-Man during a trip around Europe. Shortly after, Parker and Jones began dating. Aunt May

Maybelle “May” Parker is the aunt of Peter Parker and the widow of the late Ben Parker. She has raised Peter alone and has now learned that her nephew is Spider-Man.

Otto Octavius

Otto is a scientist who took up the mantle of Doctor Octopus after he created a set of mechanical limbs. He is now a sworn enemy of Spider-Man.

Electro

Max Dillon was an electrical engineer at Oscorp Industries and became obsessed with Spider-Man. Whilst trying to fix failing circuitry, Max fell into a batch of genetically modified eels where he became Electro. Mr Harrington

Roger Harrington is a science teacher at Midtown School of Science and Technology and is also the coach of the Decathlon team.

Betty Brant

Is also a student at Midtown School and is the host of Midtown News. Betty formed a relationship with Ned Leeds whilst in Europe but now she remains only friends.

Here are just a few ways to get started as a junior reporter: 1. Go looking for the story. What’s happening in your community, is there someone special at your school. Get out there and report on what’s NOW! 2. Carry a pencil! Tech can go wrong and pens can run out of ink. Carry a pencil with you at all times and then when ideas hit you, jot them down.

3. Be quiet and listen. Especially when I’m talking! A good journalist always listens and never interrupts a conversation. 4.Develop your story. Don’t rush it. Deliver something that other kids will want to read about. Every good story takes time. 5.Have fun with it. You don’t need to be serious. Look for inspiration, write

UV RAYS

The sun radiates light to the earth, and part of that light consists of invisible ultraviolet (UV) rays. When these rays reach the skin, they cause tanning, burning, and other skin damage. Sunlight contains three types of ultraviolet rays: UVA rays cause skin aging and wrinkling and contribute to skin cancer, such as melanoma. Because UVA rays pass effortlessly through the ozone layer, they make up the majority of our sun exposure. UVB rays are also dangerous, causing sunburns, cataracts (clouding of the eye lens, which results in blindness), and immune system damage. They also contribute to skin cancer. Melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer, is thought to be associated with severe UVB sunburns that occur before the age of 20.

Remember not every beach in Australia is patrolled by lifeguards. Capybaras are curious animals. While they don’t look like your run-of-the-mill street or kitchen cupboard-dweller, these South American natives are the largest rodents in the world. Bizarre-looking as they may be, Capybaras have quickly become the pseudo-stars of the Internet—largely due to the fact that they look like overgrown guinea pigs—but also because of their predisposition to mix comfortably with other animals.

Capybaras can always be found living near bodies of water due to their semi-aquatic lifestyle. Along the banks of the Amazon River, these murky waters harbour many threats for a Capybara, but life by the water is still the perfect spot to set up camp—allowing them to retreat quickly and escape from predators like anacondas, wild cats and even eagles.

It’s so cool following a recipe, using a wand and then the surprise of mist coming out of the cauldron when your spell is com plete. The ingredients are numbered and packag ed like little potion bottles and the scroll pap er to write a wish on is a cute element. My favourite part was putting in all the ingred ients needed to make the spell and the amou nt of mist produced, and it didn’t even take that long to stir it all together. The cauldron has a light inside and great sound effects. Wh en I saw the furry friend reveal I said “wow that is so cool how you make a spell and sur prise you see a furry friend” and the best thi ng is you can reset and start all over again!

Magic mixies is the coolest toy I have received. I loved adding in all the components in to cast the spell and using my wand. The cauldron mist was such a huge surprise then my magic mixie named sprinkle arrived. I can’t wait to cast more spells with my friends.

Magic Mixies was the best! I added the spell ingredients which each had a special purpose like a feather for its wings, a star for its shimmer, tapping the wand each time. Once all the ingredients for the spell are in you write the name for your Mixie on a special card and put it into the cauldron. Then say the magic words Magic Mixies, tap your wand three times. The potion starts to mist and bubble and then it shakes and pops and then your Mixie arrives. The Mixie is so cute and it talks to you.
