JING HUANG I was born and raised in Wuhan, the central part of China. It lies in the eastern Jianghan Plain, at the intersection of the middle reaches of the Yangtze and Han rivers. I am to this day affected by the land where I came from. I have a degree in environmental art design in China. Environmental Art is similar to Interior Architecture because they both deal with lanscape and the area around the building. After I finished my undergraduate degree, I came here, to AAU to continue my education. Interior design is what I chose because I am passionate about design. Design is my way of life, which accompanies me in everything I do, and it affects my mood and feelings. Before I did design, I would sketch in my book, and show my ideas to my classmates. I would then modify my design and make changes after class. I have been living in San Francisco for four years. This beautiful city gives me an immense amount of inspiration, and I show it in my design projects. My goal is to be a designer, and find a job here. I look forward to the future in my design career.

FIRST FLOOR
On the first floor, I redesigned the lobby, restaurant, office, and gift store. When guests come into the hotel, they can easily go to the lobby and check in. The hotel is located around office buildings and budding residential condominium, so I put a restaurant on the first floor to serve the people in the area.

SITE ANALYSIS
Location: Tanhualin Wuchang Wu Han City, China
Stepping on Tanhualin, an old street in Wu Chang, one may feel as if they are walking back in time to the city of Wuhan. One can still see the traces of many buildings and hear of widely spread legendary stories of a city rich with culture and history. An old richly or lamented house, a cracked stairs, show some Chinese - western construction, all of which are silently telling the vivid culture in buildings. Today, the buildings have not changed. The ancient buildings are now used for schools, restaurants, museums, and houses. It is a district rich in culture. A place where people come to touch base with the legacy of old China.
Residential Design /2014 Fall
USERS Wang Han who is Chinese famous host and writer. He likes reading, especially Chinese traditional cultural books. He enjoys collecting ancient artifacts as a hobby. He wants his home to be designed with a Chinese traditional style. He has collected some antique furniture that can be use in the space. In addition, he wants the interior to reflect and respect the Chinese culture.

CONCEPT
My concept is about patios, which is a characteristic of the traditional Chinese building. The patio has a special function in China. The notch in a patio is use to flush out water in the toilet when it is raining. This functions as a sustainable component to the design. With the development of China, many of the traditional buildings were move. Therefore, a main component of my design will be the patio, and the sustainable practices it incorporates with the traditional Chinese interiors.

CONCEPT BOARD The library is a community library, which is services the neighbourhood, which has made up of many different cultures. Therefore, the library was designed to have liquidity, diversity, and flexibility. Combining these features, the concept was to be “blend and bring the community together. In the design, our team decided to incorporate the Chinese martial art of Tai Chi as the part of the design. Tai Chi balances all the components of fluidity, peacefulness, and nature into a state of perfect harmony. Our team decided to mix the materials, construction, culture, and environment to show our concept in this space.
