introduction
Hospital way finding often can be very confusing and dull. The hospital is big and consists of many different rooms and spaces. Also, since many numbers of hospitals want to keep a “sterile look to appeal to patients and visitors often colors are the last thing hospitals consider to include. To better inform and lead people to their destination and to add beautification around the hospital this book is dedicated on research, concepts, and virtual visualization.

concept
Medical Center of Virginia is the chosen hospital to be used as examples to apply concepts and ideas. The two main elements focused on this project is better hierarchy and beautification. Through personal research hierarchy is an important element for travelers to understand the system easily when moving around the space. Through that people will be able to travel around places faster and easier. Organic forms of circular abstract marks will be applied per hospital as a sort of their “identity mark but not as an logo. Each marks will be applied as patterns and colors.

color
Since hospitals want to keep the space to appear clean and sterile the colors had to be thoughtfully chosen. Even if the goal of this project is to beautify the spaces in hospitals instead of using bright and vibrant colors the colors were chosen based off of complimentary colors of pastel colors that was first thought in the head.

interactive directory
Inspired by Korea’s technology trend instead of having just a map on the wall but to install an interactive directory. It would be easy to update information, help people with different needs and because there will be variety of diverse people at the hospital. The directory will feature a navigation system, search engine, and bilingual. The directory will be placed in hot spots around the campus and in front of the main buildings.
