The project is located in Chollas VIew, a low-income community in Southeastern San Diego, where the site is undergoing a masterplan development of homoginized typologies that are retrograding archtiecture by economic efficiency.

Thesis Statement Opposed to the homogeneity, monotonous architecture in our cities produce generic typologies. This thesis investigated archietcture “Specofic” to its site through contextual analysis and the manipulation of geometric logistics through topography. The exploration in this methedology generate spaces which aplify perception based on scale, speed, and surface. Altogether introducing a different visualization of architecture to the people which are accustomed to the conventinal realms. Generic typologies do not perform well socially in contributing to the quality of life and welfare of a community. Therefore, this project intends to connect architecture with the people and their surrounding context for social engagement and as a mechanism for transitional space

Southeastern San Diego: Chollas View Community Due to the lack of funding in redevelopment this community in a cohesive manner, with such contextual resources, the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood innovation is advocating a masterplan of housing and corporate reatailers on this site. This master plan only seeks to attain economic efficiency and does not aid in prospering a healthy livng community. Therefore, this project embraces the community by providing a Parks & Recreation Center for the people of Chollas View. Due to the insufficient resources to Horton Elementary School, just north of the Recreation Center, this proposition help to develop a park and after school sports that connects with the school and serves the kids and the community. In collaboration with the school, there is a possibilit for a stronger impact, and advocate for maintaining an environment of growing individuals in atheletics, education, time management, family, and life. Altogeter, retaining young boys/firls from disadvange circumstaces from negative influences.

Located in Vista, California, Buena Creek Crossing creates a community consisting of young families, empty nesters, and college students by providing a variety of housing choices, public spaces to congregate, and amenieites that serve the interest of each demographic. The concept of Synergy is applied throughout the project to emphisize the collectiveness of people coming together in the community in a social and arhitectural aspect. There are many communal amenities in the community which promote social activities and healthy living such as, outdoor yoga, childrens playground, farmers market, and commercial/retail space. Altogether being connected by a natural creek running through the site, as it activates the community by building a relationship between the northern and southern parcels.

Xochimilco is considered the “lungs� of Mexico City because it’s one of the last remaining ecological sites left that provide oxygen to the smog-filled city venter from the pollution of traffic. Stimulus encompasses our chosen 1km site of Xochimilco bringing together sprawl and ecology together. sprawl will overcome quickly and this project strives to protect the deteriorating culture of Xochimilco, known for their agricultural techniques the aztecs used on the floating gardens called Chinampas. The Chinampas are the vital agriculture that supplies fruits and vegetables to the 22 million people of Mexico City. Our focus was to design a community where humans can live harmoniouslywith wildlife. Bird and butterfly migration is apopular activity, and the culture of bird watching generate lots of revenueevery year during migration season from locals as well as travelers. This project emphasizes the experience of bird watching and preserving the ancient practice of cultivating crops to the locals and visitors. Altogether, the concept Stimu[US] circulates the never ending cycle of wildlife, humans, and, nature. One cannot exist without the other, as each factor stimlates the performance of the other. 24

Mass Dwelling The housing is organized throughout the site maximizing views of the courtyards and through fields of Salix trees. The courtyard system revitalizes the integration of humans with nature, to also serve as a communal space for cultural celebrations and local vendors - farmers and street markets. The courtyards create different identities within the site. The juxstaposition of the dwellings allow for terraces that become blended with the green-scape that could possibly attract wildlife to associate closer to humans. The quality of living starts to create itself through the courtyard areas where pathways connect them in networks where locals and visitors are contiously linked. To. No. of Units: 2,700 units Avg. Looking at our chosen site we wanted to capitalize the experiences of spaces that happen throughout the area, at the same time uplift this emerging economy. By creating these nodes where the canals lead to a centralized intersection, we could connect the activities of different bird species by creating pathways through the land area. With these pathways, we achieve the users to experience the space immersed with agriculture, flower gardens, and congregations of trees in relation to the species of birds.

SOCIAL HOUSING Zapopan, Guadalajara Mexico is the home of commerce in this city, and has been developing through recent years. There is an uprising for new opportunities to help out the people of Zapopan. Plaza Zapopan is a project that would generate affordable housing for every demographic group in the surrounding area. Bringing the people without a definition of social class. Therefore, having the ability for people to gather and hace a connection from the outside towards the center of the plaza, inviting various social dynamics. 33

City Dwellings As a developing city, the district of City Heights in San Diego has the potential to expand with affordable housing in this neighborhood. This project aims to provide flexible housing, where the unit type has the capability in expand or contract to fit most buyers, and fit accordingly towards each demographic. As a team we were able to through different conceptual iterations, and make an analysis to manipulate the unit types with systems of interlocking and circulation to make them interchangeable.
