Bringing Crocodile Creek products to life is a collaborative process that involves many talented designers and artists. Located around the world, these amazing artists bring their diverse backgrounds and experiences to each and every one of our products.
ALISTAR AMY SCHIMLER-SAFFORD Q: Where were you born? A: I was born in a small town along the seaside on the eastern central Italy, with a lighthouse on the green hills where I enjoyed endless skies and many horizons and liked to swim. Q: Where do you currently live? A: I currently live between the sweet italian seaside and an historical city along the Silk Road in the Caucasus: Tbilisi, the Capital of Georgia. I love its mix of culture between east and west and it’s where my husband and part of my family live. Q: Favorite toy as a child? A: B ooks, crayons, record player, records and a red bike! I still like all of them, just my books and colors are digital now, I listen to mp3s and my bike is blue! Q: I f you could go to a place back in time for a one day visit— when and where? A: T he captain of a pirate ship in the Caribbean Sea. Ahoy!
MICHAEL SLACK Q: Where were you born? A: Brooklyn, NY Q: Where were you born? A: Sacramento, CA Q: Where do you currently live? A: San Francisco, CA Q: Where did you do your art training? A: San Francisco Art Institute. I have a BFA in painting. Q: Favorite toy as a child? A: Rubber Uglies Q: Favorite picture book as a child? A: Where the Wild Things Are. I still love that book. Q: Artists that have inspired you? A: Norman Saunders, Richard Powers, Jean Dubuffet and Tomi Ungerer Q: If you could go to a place back in time for a one day visit— when and where? A: Earth in the Late Jurassic. It would be fascinating to see what dinosaurs really look like.

Favorite sheets were my Marimekko car and truck sheets—go figure! Q: F avorite picture book as a child? A: M ike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel by Virginia Lee Burton. Q: Artists that have inspired you? A: Keith Haring, David Macaulay, Richard Scarry, Akira Yamaguchi, N.C. Wyeth (as I grey up very close to the Wyeth compound)
Q: If you could go to a place back in time for a one day visit—when and where? A: I f I could go back to a time or place I would probably go back to when I was 10 and tell myself “Not to worry so much, things will be ok!” ;)

This time she read me for the first time poetry of Pablo Neruda.
Q: Favorite picture book as a child? A: W here the Wild Things Are. (I also had this crazy Charlie Brown Dictionary that I couldn’t get enough of.) Q: Artists that have inspired you? A: M ary Blair, Art Seiden, Alice and Martin Provensen. Q: I f you could go to a place back in time for a one day visit— when and where? A: I ’d go to Gaeta, Italy, in the year 997 to try the first documented pizza.

A: Dallas, TX Q: Where did you do your art training? A: I took oil painting classes from the time I was 12 until I graduated high school. I studied graphic design at the University of Texas at Arlington. Q: Favorite toy as a child? A: Legos! Q: Favorite picture book as a child? A: Go, Dog. Go! by P.D. Eastman Q: Artists that have inspired you? A: Stig Lindberg, Picasso, Charles Shultz, Chuck Jones, M. Sasek Q: I f you could go to a place back in time for a one day visit— when and where? A: I would travel to 1955 for the grand opening of Disneyland. And I would ride every ride.
Q: Where do you currently live? A: Worcester, United Kingdom Q: Where did you do your art training? A: I studied at the High School of Art in Prague and after working in a state design studio for two years studied painting at the Academy of Fine Art in Prague. Q: Favorite toy as a child? A: F rom the usual selection of match box cars and cowboys and indians my great companion was a biro pen. I always drew a lot. I used to make up a comic books for my friends.
