SketchUp’s Sandbox Tools for Modeling Architectural Surfaces Jerry Lum

Introduction SketchUp’s Sandbox Tools are generally used to create terrains. However, these very same tools and operations can be used to form organic building surfaces. Structure is simply modeled and added using the basic tools. This is just an example to demonstrate what can be done. I hope that my ARCH 20 students are inspired to explore the many possibilities. Note that I have edited the Style used in these exported 2D images. The organic surfaces are softened and edges are invisible, allowing only the differences in value to define surface articulations.
