EYFS Planning for 29th June 2020

Please change this to summer Crown! You could talk about June being the first month of summer and look for the ‘signs of summer’.

You could use this Espresso book. https://central.espresso.co.uk/espresso/modules/e1_big_bo oks/unusual_friendship/flash/friendship.html

The King of the Tiny Things. Enjoy listening to and talking about this story together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9WIMdedmWU

This maybe a great time to revise the ng or th digraph. There are activities in ‘documents’. Also make ng word cards for your child to read and do outside. E.g. swing, hang, bang, sing. Leave some cards blank. Can your child write some ng words for you to read and do?

Can you make a palace for the King of The Tiny Things? Can you build this outside using only natural resources? Then write a letter to the King of the Tiny Things to tell him about the house you have made for him. Where will you leave your letter? You may get a reply from the King of the Tiny Things!

Can you make your own ‘Tiny Things?’ What will you use to make it? Will your Tiny Thing be a king, a child, a princess, the queen, a servant or something Different? Does your Tiny thing have special powers?

Can you write about your Tiny Thing? You might do a speech bubble.

Creepy Crawly activity 1)Put a large white sheet of paper or fabric under the branch of a tree/shrub or a hedge. 2) Gently shake the branch/hedge. 3) Look carefully at the creatures which land on your paper. 4) Can identify any of them? We can't wait to see what you ďŹ nd.

story herself however you don't get to see the illustrations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bz3hkXU 0DF0 This version of the Bog Baby

You could use the Bog Baby survey sheet in documents.

shows the illustrations.

Do you have any stories that include a pond? E.g. The Frog Princess. https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/api/interactives/24759.html PLEASE always closely supervise children near water.

Use Bog Baby to revise y as an alternative spelling of the ee digraph. Can you read these words? Put sound buttons under each word to help you read them? E.g. dummy

mummy daddy

silly

funny

fairy

teary

daisy

chilly

Poppy

bunny

skinny

happy

If you have enjoyed the books (above) by Jeanne Willis, as well as those below that we have already used for home learning you could explore more Jeanne Willis books. Jeanne Willis is the author of LOTS of picture books. Can you share any other Jeanne Willis books? Watch the link below. How many children's books has Jeanne Willis written? https://central.espresso.co.uk/espresso/modules/e1_book_club/new_authors/video_new_author_jw_loo.html You could watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwXiMniwhA8 BUT NOT recommended for parents who are fed up with toilet humour - it contains lots and lots!!! http://jeannewillis.com/

These stories are both available on Espresso if you haven't already read them.

Phase 4 phonics - reading words with 4 phonemes e.g. crab, lift. Use this word machine for reading (blending). https://central.espresso.co.uk/espresso/modules/e1_word_machine/index.html?source=subject-English-KS1-English-Resource%20types

Use these word machines for spelling (segmenting) and https://central.espresso.co.uk/espresso/modules/e1_word_machine/activities/activity_endings.html https://central.espresso.co.uk/espresso/modules/e1_word_machine/activities/activity_beginnings.html

If your child needs to practise reading and spelling ch and sh and seeing these letters as a digraph that make one sound. https://central.espresso.co.uk/espresso/modules/e1_word_machine/videos/video_beginnings.html

Number bonds of 10

Knowing your number bonds is an essential skill. Spend some time this week practising the number bonds of 10. You can use the video below or the chant on this page to help. You could even try and make up your own number bond song.

Have a go at creating some of your own part - whole models at home. Here are a few examples

Counting to 20

Talk about the ‘Fruit Stall’ poster (previous page). The scene contains various totals up to 20. Encourage the children to count the different fruits and vegetables and say how many there are altogether. Example questions: How many crates can you see? What do you notice about each crate? How many pineapples do you think there are? How can we check? I think there are more loaves of bread than pineapples. Am I correct? Why?

How many coins does the greengrocer have? How many coins does the customer have? How can we find out how many coins there are altogether? I think there are ten apples. Am I right? How can you check how many apples there are? If the greengrocer put out two more lemons, how many would there be? How can you work it out? CHALLENGE: Create some of your own questions about the picture and ask someone in your family!

Well done you for all your great learning in week 10!
