Bakes & Kropp is a premier kitchen design and luxury cabinetry company celebrated for defining fine cabinetry across the United States. With over 50 years of combined experience in the industry, our founders, Bob Bakes and Paul Kropp, combine their respective design expertise and master craftsmanship to create the go-to brand of high-quality, true custom cabinetry. Our team of talented designers is known for their impeccable design aesthetic, and industry-leading customer service.

Our Story

Our story begins in two separate parts of the world. Our Head of Design, Bob Bakes, was running a kitchen design company in London where he sold products from various brands. At the same time, back in The States, our Chief Operations Officer, Paul Kropp was busy hand-crafting fine luxury custom wood furniture out of his woodshop in Michigan. Soon after Bob moved to the U.S., the two started working together, combining Bob’s design expertise with Paul’s craftsmanship knowledge. It quickly became clear that there was a special synergy and strength in their partnership. The duo decided to make their partnership official and founded Bakes & Kropp out of a vision to build a legacy of fine design and craftsmanship and to create one-of-a-kind luxury kitchens for beautiful homes across the country.

Today, each Bakes & Kropp kitchen is thoughtfully designed and hand-built at every step with personalization tailored to each client’s lifestyle. No two kitchens are alike. It’s our priority to customize each space for optimal functionality and flow, from layout to integrated appliances, all the way down to drawer inserts. Our dedicated and talented team members work hand-inhand with our clients to help them discover and define their own personal styles and execute their design vision. This is where our showrooms come into play and serve as a starting point for our clients to identify the colors, textures, and materials that speak to them. Together, our founders, Bob and Paul, combine their expertise to incorporate functionality, thoughtful balance, and timeless beauty in kitchen cabinetry, which is now synonymous with the Bakes & Kropp brand.

The LOOK

NORTH SHORE

BLACK & WHITE

This Bakes & Kropp kitchen transformation in Locust Valley, New York, honors the classic style of its historic estate on the north shore of Long Island with layers of modern sensibility. Trusting our custom capabilities, the homeowners turned to our team, led by Senior Designer Mary Dimichino, for their first of many renovations with us.

Eager to deliver drama balanced with sophistication, we installed our Classic Meridian cabinetry with a stark contrast of black and white finishes. Handpainted white wall cabinetry parallels the space’s classic French doors. Above, a Bakes & Kropp range hood is accented with riveted nickel straps in harmony with the cabinetry’s polished hardware. The black hand-painted island commands the center of the kitchen, offering an expansive working space with double sinks and seating for six. Flanking a narrow windowed pantry, double icebox-style refrigerators mimic the island’s juxtaposition of a contemporary black finish against a classic silhouette with stainless steel panels. Lastly, just opposite the kitchen wall, a stunning butler’s pantry in a high gloss gray makes these homeowners’ storage dreams come true.

SOUTHHAMPTON BRONZE

In this Southampton kitchen, interior designer Christina Magrans sought Bakes & Kropp’s cabinetry expertise to refresh her previously beige space with a streamlined, sophisticated facelift. She worked closely with Senior Designer Guillaume Dupré to create a bespoke kitchen inspired by her background as a retail designer for heritage brands like Tiffany & Co.—a longtime personal favorite.

The revamped space, with its walnut finishes and bronzy accents, radiates warmth from every corner. The new kitchen is designed as a natural extension of the adjacent living space with a new Bakes & Kropp signature L-shaped wood top island affording extra room for family and friends to gather. Throughout, custom inset Madison cabinetry in a satin walnut finish that mirrors the elegance of fine furnishings is adorned with mixed metal accents and hardware. The removal of upper cabinetry helps open the space to the greater entertaining area while limiting visual clutter overhead. To compensate for the loss of overhead storage, custom Bakes & Kropp storage provisions maximize existing cabinetry space. A fulllength cabinet near the refridgerator acts as a catch-all for essentials while dedicated storage for spices and a separate beverage fridge provide easy access for guests and family.

BEDFORD CLASSIC

Bakes & Kropp transformed the kitchen in this 30-year-old estate home to reflect a traditional design with a new-age twist. Located in Bedford, New York, the space features a subtle, monochromatic color scheme with added layers and texture for a clean design that effortlessly blends the old with the new.

A neutral color scheme comes to life in this space with white Classic Meridian cabinets for a light and airy feel. The large island in our signature Sterling cerused finish serves as the centerpiece of the

kitchen and provides contrast against the handpainted Bakes & Kropp white cabinets, converting it into the ideal space for prep and entertaining. The hand-brushed oak hood features the same white as the cabinets but with a semi-gloss sheen for added texture that allows it to stand out without overpowering the design. Thin polished nickel bands and hardware emulate a fresh design while the marble backsplash instills movement throughout the space. This project showcases Bakes & Kropp’s custom capabilities and creates an invigorated space ideal for family and entertaining.

OCEAN ROAD ELEGANCE

Bakes & Kropp transformed this kitchen in Bridgehampton, New York, to reflect the personalities of its owners. The large size of the kitchen offered plenty of space to be creative, providing ample room for two sinks, two dishwashers, and two refrigerators, among other useful amenities. Reflecting a luxurious transitional aesthetic, the space is elegant but comfortable and carefully blends a mixture of walnut, painted Classic Meridian cabinetry, stone, and metal accents.

A carefully crafted diagonal wood pattern instills movement in the ceiling, creating a perfect symmetry with the centerline of the island that shares its walnut finish. The design, conceptualized by Senior Designer Guillaume Dupré, visually lowers the ceiling, creating a wider effect in the narrow space. Polished nickel pendant lights lend a decorative accent, while in-cabinet lighting provides greater illumination. Around the perimeter, a balance of white-painted and cerused walnut Classic Meridian cabinetry provides ample storage and pairs elegantly with marble countertops. Polished nickel hardware creates a unifying thread throughout the space, while delicate mesh inserts decorate select cabinetry fronts.

Sporting a classic Bakes & Kropp aesthetic of transitional luxury and blended balance, this reimagined kitchen both fulfills the functional needs of its owners and reflects their design sensibilities.

12TH STREET MASTERPIECE

Bakes & Kropp collaborated with independent designers Elsa Soyars and Becky Shea to transform this New York City kitchen to reflect a classic aesthetic. Originally tasked with only doing the kitchen island, the clients were so pleased with the quality and beauty of our work that they entrusted our team, led by Head of Design Bob Bakes, to design cabinetry not only for the entire house but their second home as well.

This kitchen is both visually spacious and primed for functionality without compromising on style. Our team worked with the client to establish a design vision for the kitchen, ultimately showcasing the Bakes & Kropp Classic Meridian cabinetry complemented by a black marble-topped spacious island. Brushed nickel provides an eye-catching detail juxtaposed with the hand-painted Harbor Gray and Bristle Walnut finishes repeated throughout the kitchen and adjacent dining room. The kitchen features an equally striking custom range hood in walnut and polished nickel as well as stainless steel refrigerator panels. The end result for this repeat client is a functional kitchen that thoughtfully combines painted cabinetry, rich wood, and metal accents.

For this New York City kitchen, Bakes & Kropp created a custom walnut cabinetry finish with a soft, natural sheen to add warmth to the home’s modern style and balance the opulence of a marble island top. The end result was so stunning that the finish is now a signature style within our collection.

Senior Designer Ellen Schott worked with the homeowner to bring their vision to fruition, marrying the client-selected furnishings, hardware, and backsplash with custom drawer inserts and pull-

out accessories. Minding an existing design vision, Bakes & Kropp offered our expertise to elevate the kitchen with high-quality Revelane and Emerson overlay cabinetry and fittings to deliver a properly functional design. Small added touches highlight the refined craftsmanship, such as the underlit island showcasing the natural wood grain and clean symmetrical lines of a metal inlay. In the end, our custom capabilities and design caliber satisfied the homeowner’s needs for a kitchen that is as sensible as it is beautiful.

CLIFFSIDE SOFT MODERN

White oiled walnut and gloss white paint characterize this Soft Modern Hamptons kitchen. Senior Designer Guillaume Dupré worked with the Sag Harbor homeowners to design a kitchen that reiterates the greater home’s warmth.

Prioritizing function without the sacrifice of form, our design team layered sleek Angle Emerson cabinetry and open shelving. The light walnut finish complements light paneled flooring and softens the modern metallic backsplash, while the glossy white countertop and cabinetry marry the styles.

Above, a custom Bakes & Kropp range hood, with its polished nickel and brushed stainless steel accents, layers additional reflective finishes to bounce light shining in from the double-height windows. Paired with the glossy finish of the handpainted cabinetry, the space is amplified with extra luminance. The absence of hardware made possible by the Angle Emerson cabinetry enforces the clean lines of the home’s design. Defining a gathering area within the space, the island stacks a white oiled walnut block atop a recessed stainless steel toekick.

SAG HARBOR PEARL

Led by Senior Designer Guillaume Dupré, the design team breathed new life into this outdated Sag Harbor kitchen that bore the marks of the late ‘80s. The result is our signature Soft Modern aesthetic seamlessly combining contemporary lines and timeless appeal with a soothing mixture of white and walnut finishes tempered by polished metal accents.

Painted in a serene Bakes White and complemented by stained oak in Pearl, the bespoke cabinetry exudes understated luxury. The classic, pared-down tubular hardware complements without overshadowing the overall design. Perhaps one of the most distinctive elements of the kitchen is the vegetable drawers, a signature feature often seen in Bakes & Kropp designs. These drawers are not only functional but also add a touch of character.

The color palette, echoing the Soft Modern theme, was chosen to radiate tranquility and sophistication. In essence, the transformation of this Sag Harbor residence is not just about upgrading a space, but about creating a harmonious blend of design, functionality, and disposition.

JERSEY ENTERTAINER

Grand yet thoughtful, this Bakes & Kropp kitchen is the home chef and entertainer’s dream. This new build in the New Jersey countryside was a fantastic collaboration with Frank Delladonne Interiors, delivering a functional entertaining and cooking space equipped with double islands, three sinks, two full-size refrigerators, and a full butler’s pantry.

The cooking and prep space is defined by the far side island, outlining a carefully considered workflow between the range, sink, and built-in baking ovens. Above, a pot rack keeps favored cookware within arm’s reach. Additional storage space is concealed behind our hand-painted walnut and oak custom cabinetry. The eclectic pairing is accented by mixed metal hardware. A Bakes & Kropp walnut hood draws the eye up with polished nickel accent bands. Another island defines an entertaining and serving space, illuminated by the warm glow of the greater kitchen’s intricate recessed lighting plan.

Flanked by two stainless steel paneled refrigerators, a vibrant blue butler’s pantry separates the prep and serving islands. Light is reflected in its high gloss finish and true lite doors, showcasing serving ware behind ribbed glass. Copper hardware adds a cool, refined accent against the marbled countertop and backsplash.

AMAGANSETT TRANSFORMATION

Nestled in the serene enclave of Amagansett, New York, this picturesque kitchen became the canvas for a remarkable transformation. Blending elegance with functionality, Bakes & Kropp Senior Designer Ellen Schott beautifully executed the homeowners’ clear vision: a tasteful, welcoming space for gatherings and shared moments while balancing their daily culinary needs. Taking a transitional approach to the design elements, the kitchen seamlessly bridges the gap between timeless charm and modern efficiency.

Inspired by a classic Brooklyn style, Ellen brings together elements that are inherently unique and inviting. This project is not just about aesthetics; it’s about functionality and convenience. The integration of numerous appliances into the kitchen design is a testament to this commitment, with must-have features including integrated coffee stations and thoughtful pull-out storage for everyday essentials. An iceboxstyle front around the refrigerator, freezer, and pull-out pantry adds an element of timeless elegance and continuity to the space. Glass upper cabinets and open shelves, adorned with subtle lighting, exude a sense of sophistication and charm. Custom pull-outs designed for small appliances, paper towels, and vegetables showcase the kitchen’s commitment to efficiency and practicality. While the pendant lighting adds an element of surprise to the space.

The cabinetry, a cornerstone of the design, features the Meridian door style, painted in a captivating Bakes White finish. It is further enriched by the warm and inviting Pearl Walnut finish, with the kitchen island serving as the centerpiece, graced by a True Walnut countertop. The hardware bears witness to the homeowners’ and designer’s shared dedication to creating a harmonious and stylish environment. Signature Bakes hardware in a polished nickel finish brings an elegant touch to the cabinets, balancing with the broader design scheme.

RUMSON TRANSITIONAL

Drawn by the signature classic designs of our portfolio, these homeowners approached Bakes & Kropp to give their kitchen in Rumson, New Jersey, a transitional facelift.

With the directive to maintain the warmth of the original space, Senior Designer Jonika Ruz refreshed the space with classic inset cabinetry with Meridian doors in a satin, hand-painted Bakes White finish layered with rich walnut accents. The cornerstone of the kitchen is its grand walnut island topped with a custom walnut and maple checkered butcher block to offer sensible prep space and a stunning focal point. This element elevates the space aesthetically but also anchors the kitchen’s optimal ergonomic flow. Meanwhile, a metal Bakes & Kropp range hood draws the eye to create visual balance overhead. Walnut accents are judiciously placed throughout, echoing the warmth of the island.

The kitchen was sensibly designed to meet the family’s needs with an array of customized storage solutions from utensil inserts, cutlery and knife drawers, to corner rollouts for pots, pans, and plates. Our team sensibly worked around existing appliances including the dishwasher, prep sink, and ovenmicrowave stack in a seamless, stress-free renovation. A blend of timeless style that meets contemporary needs, this space will serve as the heart of the home for years to come.

MATTITUK ELEGANCE

This Bakes & Kropp kitchen in Mattituck, New York, exudes a transitional yet classic elegance characterized by clean lines and a neutral color palette. The newly remodeled design yields a serene space rich with texture and sensibility.

White hand-painted Meridian cabinetry offers a fresh base contrasted with Pearl Walnut for added warmth. The sleek white finish maximizes the natural light, while its polished nickel hardware complements metallic accents within the bespoke Pearl Walnut range hood. A signature Bakes & Kropp island echoes the sloped hood’s natural finish to provide a casual gathering and prep space. Quartz countertops and a corresponding backsplash layer an element of refinement against the organic accents.

Our Meridian cabinetry was tailor-made with reimagined storage to accommodate new, high-end appliances, while a bar area custom-designed with glass door fronts elevates the space’s entertaining capacity.

Together, each specially crafted element contributes to the greater functionality of the space with uncontested aesthetic merit.

HAMPTONS GALERIE SHOWHOUSE

Bakes & Kropp, in collaboration with Nicole Fuller Interiors, stylized a sophisticated getaway for the contemporary home that blends timeless and new-age aesthetics. Featuring iconic quartz slab backsplash, mid-century Thomas O’Brien lights, and signature brass hardware, our kitchen in the Galerie House of Art and Design is an upscale modernist retreat.

Demonstrating our custom color capabilities, the St. Clair Blue hand-painted contemporary cabinetry was intentionally selected to be a vibrant pop of color to match the high-energy style of the rest of the house. By incorporating blue accessories throughout the kitchen, the bright cabinetry “has a friend to talk to,” according to Bob Bakes, our Head of Design and Co-Founder, meaning the color is drawn throughout the design for flow and doesn’t just stand out on its own. The focal point of the kitchen is the 15-foot-long island covered in two-toned walnut with a built-in stone base.

UPPER EAST SIDE ELEGANCE

Bakes & Kropp was enlisted by renowned interiors firm Aman & Meeks to collaborate on the design of cabinetry in a major renovation of a prominent design aficionado/ influencer’s Upper East Side kitchen. Steps from Central Park, the kitchen sits at garden level, with light flooding through grand windows.

All five levels of the home, including the kitchen, were gutted to the studs, allowing our team to design a custom cabinetry layout with new mechanicals within the bright, clean, and airy open concept. Classic Straton cabinetry hand-painted in a crisp white chosen by the client lends to the quintessentially chic kitchen. Polished nickel accents repeat in the customdesigned latches and slope front hood.

Behind the Classic Straton cabinetry doors, custom fittings work to maximize storage concealing cookware, pantry space, and even a beverage refrigerator. The marble countertop is accented by the cool glow of the underlit cabinets, equipped with a hidden row of outlets for countertop appliances. The kitchen’s centerpiece, a custom cerused white oak island offers additional storage as well as a prep and entertaining space.

19TH STREET CLASSIC

In the heart of New York City, Bakes & Kropp collaborated with Samantha Drew Interiors to transform a small kitchen into an elegant and classic space.

The kitchen underwent a remarkable metamorphosis from an ultra-modern space to a warm, transitional haven that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Classic Meridian cabinetry, hand-painted in Bakes White and adorned with bristle-cerused walnut accents and Bakes Signature hardware in polished nickel, exudes a timeless elegance. At the kitchen’s focal point sits a custom slope-faced Bakes & Kropp hood with repeated glossy nickel accents that add a touch of sophistication and balance.

The bar area is thoughtfully designed with glass upper cabinets and walnut accents to add visual appeal and contrast. The integration of a column wine refrigerator and custom pantries showcases Bakes & Kropp’s signature balanced approach to a beautiful kitchen that is both thoughtful and stylish. This project is a testament to the team’s ability to blend warmth, drama, and transitional aesthetics seamlessly.

When a Hamptons-based influencer and tastemaker approached Bakes & Kropp to reimagine her kitchen, she looked to our team to create a luxurious space that properly reflects her personality and love for entertaining. Through a clever blend of materials and inventive storage solutions, the light and airy design perfectly encapsulate a welcoming style with ample room for guests and family alike.

Our signature white cabinetry showcases a clean aesthetic complemented by pops of blue for a quintessential Hamptons-style kitchen. The space features Classic Belleview cabinetry and an expansive farmhouse-style sink accented by polished nickel hardware throughout the kitchen for added contrast. With little room for storage, our design team carefully considered the placement of each appliance and cabinet so as to not sacrifice the flow and functionality of the space nor the existing natural light. As a clever solution, our team built glass door cliff cabinetry over the existing windows to create a dramatic storage area that looks out into the garden. The space is now a light-filled kitchen that combines aesthetics and utility with plenty of storage for glassware, tabletop items, and more for this avid host.

FARMHOUSE DARLING

With pivotal design decisions, Bakes & Kropp worked with with Kate Singer Home to salvage the patina and charm of this historic Cold Spring Harbor, New York, farmhouse kitchen transformation. Senior Designer Mary Dimichino recognized the importance of preserving the home’s original wood beams and led our design team to tailor special finishes to compliment the farmhouse details with the interlay of clean and classic elements.

Hand-painted White Classic Canterbury cabinetry establishes a stark juxtaposition against aged beams above. Transitional black hinges and pull handles play against the more modern style of squared knobs. Whereas this contrast creates its own visual interest, the white cabinetry finish against white tile lays a blank slate for Chicory Walnut accents to shine. Most notably, the center island, custom range hood, and paneled icebox refrigerator doors hone the farmhouse style by highlighting darker grains of the exposed beams with their rich Chicory finish. The polished nickel bands of the Bakes & Kropp range hood help reflect light to highlight the clean, glossy finishes throughout.

ELEGANT GALLEY

Bakes & Kropp’s custom cabinetry delivers high-end luxury to this Upper East Side kitchen, proving that dream kitchens are attainable in all spaces. The dated kitchen posed challenges common to many New York City properties, including a lack of storage, the limitations of architectural obstacles, and immovable plumbing fixtures and gas lines. As a workaround, our Senior Designer, Ellen Schott, employed custom capabilities to transform the cramped space into a bright and open kitchen that prioritizes functionality.

The Bakes & Kropp team carefully considered the placement of each fitting and appliance, accommodating both the client’s needs as well as the rigid regulations of NYC housing. To optimize storage space, we installed sleek floor-to-ceiling custom cabinets. Under-cabinet lighting adds an extra layer of functionality. In a handpainted white finish, the cabinets balance rift-cut oak for a contemporary yet classic design with nickel accents and hardware for ornamental flair.

TRIBECA TRANSITIONAL

When a professional organizer sought to maximize storage in their Tribeca kitchen, they called on Bakes & Kropp to execute their vision. Our team, led by Senior Designer Ellen Schott, developed creative solutions to architectural obstacles to fulfill their needs with custom built-ins, accessories, and safety measures for young children. With its clever design, this clean-lined penthouse kitchen delivers an open and airy space.

Our signature White Dove and Pearl Walnut cabinetry provides a clean, transitional aesthetic. Within Classic Meridian cabinetry, custom builtins include tray divider storage, a spice drawer, an in-drawer electronic docking station, and a bread drawer specially tailored as coffee maker storage. Topped with polished nickel accents, deep-set drawers conceal cookware below the pantry while roll-out shelves maximize space above. Knife drawers are fitted with locks to mind the safety of young children.

A custom bar station with stem glass holders and a drop-down serving surface make practical use of the outward-facing side of a built-in pantry with a mirrored back panel to maximize light. The island offers ample workspace, additional seating, and a clean separation from the rest of the living space for entertaining.

SMALL SOPHISTICATION

On the Upper East Side, this small apartment kitchen gets a sophisticated Bakes & Kropp facelift. The homeowners entrusted our team with their city kitchen renovation following successful collaborations in the Hamptons. This time, however, Head of Design Bob Bakes was challenged to create a space just as beautiful and functional within a much smaller footprint.

Hand-painted in a custom dark blue finish, the Classic Belleview cabinetry creates a bold contrast against the warm planked flooring and white marbled backsplash. Brass hardware adds another transitional element with a boxed silhouette. While appliances and custom storage are concealed behind dark blue doors, the open crystal shelving and glass-front cabinets help lighten and open up the greater space.

With floor-to-ceiling custom cabinetry, the design team expertly tailored storage along the kitchen’s existing layout. Bakes & Kropp follows the bend of the room to create a larger working surface area along the walls, as well as cornered cabinetry faces to maximize storage space.

HARMONY IN HUNTINGTON

In Huntington, New York, the Bakes & Kropp team thoughtfully remodeled this kitchen to integrate the owner’s love of cooking and entertaining. The modern traditional aesthetic serves as a guiding principle in curating a space that harmonizes functionality with sophistication.

Classic Meridian cabinetry, hand painted on-site, showcases dedication to customization, while the Pearl Walnut accents and Sable Oak on the kitchen island set the stage for a symphony of design elements. Hardware from the Bakes Collection boasts a polished nickel finish, adding a touch of sophistication to the ensemble. The custom hood design takes center stage, commanding attention in Pearl Walnut with meticulously crafted accents. Walnut drawer fronts introduce an element of luxury, while walnut panels with icebox hardware on the refrigerator and freezer doors infuse distinctive details into the overall composition. Functionality and ambiance converge with the strategic inclusion of recessed LED lighting. This thoughtful addition enhances the kitchen’s practical aspects and contributes to a warm and inviting atmosphere.

HARRISON ENVY

Bakes & Kropp gracefully redesigned an aging kitchen in our clients’ newly purchased home in The Hamptons. Led by Senior Designer Guillaume Dupré, our team worked to satisfy the homeowners’ sole guiding request that the updated kitchen sport stylish green cabinetry, and otherwise shouldered complete creative freedom. Working within the space constraints, Bakes & Kropp delivered an upscale, Soft Modern kitchen that balances custom green cabinetry with polished white quartz surfaces and brass accents.

Challenged to accommodate all necessary appliances and workstations within the limited space, our design team developed an L-shaped workflow, culminating with a custom Bakes & Kropp range hood. Along the opposite wall is a wide pantry that accommodates ample storage without encroaching too far into the room. A sleek, quartz-topped island in the center of the space echoes the quartz counters and backsplash around the room, providing seating while concealing a built-in wine cooler and dishwasher. Brass finishes provide a connective thread throughout the space.

Harnessing a sense of hominess and warmth is a challenge in newly built homes, but even more so when tasked with a quintessentially modern design. In this Water Mill, New York, home, Bakes & Kropp engages its Soft Modern cabinetry to deliver a contemporary design curbed by its complementary, classic elements.

Under the design vision of Bob Bakes, our Head of Design, the pairing of semi-gloss Bakes White and Bristle Walnut accentuates the modern lines of our Overlay Emerson cabinetry. The rich, natural grain of the walnut strikes a key balance against the reflective semi-gloss finish, while polished nickel hardware transcends the classic and contemporary styles as a timeless accent. Walnut open shelving and open-front cabinetry layers another more subtle element of warmth in creating a polished visual break within the largely white cabinetry.

At the kitchen’s center, a white waterfall island gets a walnut inlay with reinforced modern lines to mirror the custom Bakes & Kropp range hood with nickel base band accents.

CLEAN MODERN

In Sag Harbor, New York, Bakes & Kropp delivers a Soft Modern design. With the homeowner’s request for a sleek kitchen, Head of Design Bob Bakes and the team were challenged to create a highly functional minimalist space that makes a statement.

The key to this kitchen’s successful design is the integration of natural textures and light. Large, unobstructed windows and sliding doors layer more delicate tones among the high-gloss gray polyurethane. The expansive Overlay Emerson cabinetry helps bounce light from incoming windows and a simple recessed lighting plan with pared-down hardware. A cool hue picks up the natural tones of the marbled backsplash and waterfall island, where a drift oak base tempers its lines with the warmth of wood. Built-in appliances and a hidden hood reinforce the clean, modern design profile. The line of cabinetry extends from the main cooking and serving space, keeping the key working triangle between the refrigerator, sink, and stove clear for entertaining.

Beauty and function come together in this kitchen and accompanying butler’s pantry for a newly built 7,000-square-foot home in Setauket, New York. Challenged to transform the vast area into an elegant and digestible space, Senior Designer Mary Dimichino and our team divided the room into distinct areas for cleaning, prepping, cooking, and entertaining. Accented with unique design elements including decorative hutch cabinet grilles and a built-in coffee maker, the resulting space is a transitional, fully-customized kitchen for the serious home chef.

The kitchen area features custom designs from floor to ceiling. A Bakes & Kropp stainless steel range hood shines bright against our hand-painted Classic Meridian cabinetry in Snowbound, which is topped with polished nickel hardware. A large waterfall island at the center features our Bakes & Kropp signature Fossil Walnut finish, illuminated by Circa Lighting’s Darlana Lantern light fixture overhead. To meet the client’s request for functionality, the team installed large pan drawers to the left and right of the range and tray dividers in the base cabinets along the sink wall. Our team stood up to the spatial challenge and delivered a functional kitchen in a transitional style, fully customized to fit the at-home chef’s every need.

WINE IN THE HARBOR

When the owner of this Bay Harbor, Michigan, home wanted to curate a specialty wine room, they turned to the experts at Bakes & Kropp to create a one-of-a-kind space. The owner’s main goal was to create a climate-controlled room for their wine collection of over 350 bottles and a back bar for entertaining by the boat. With a blank canvas, Senior Designer Justin Sharer collaborated with Chatham House Interior Design to curate a completely customized space with a traditional aesthetic. Truffle Walnut cabinets add a sophisticated, unique touch. The wine cabinet features intricate metal work on the back bar doors with Bakes Signature hardware and quartzite backsplash and countertops. Key storage areas are incorporated to meet the owner’s functionality goals with designated areas for cocktail and serving items on the back bar.

TRUE CLASSIC

Bakes & Kropp was enlisted to reimagine the kitchen and dining room of this Southampton home and incorporate the existing appliances into all new cabinetry. Inspired by our signature style, the client requested the hallmarks of a classic Bakes & Kropp kitchen: balance, warmth, and function.

To create a designated entertaining space, Senior Designer Guillaume Dupré and our team incorporated a combination countertop with warm walnut and marble. This juxtaposition of materials is repeated in the walnut refrigerator doors, cabinets, and drawers placed amidst the otherwise all-white cabinetry.

The custom walnut range hood is positioned against the captivating marble slab backsplash. Chrome accents abound on the lighting, hardware, fittings, range hood, and bar stools, complementing the pre-selected stainless steel appliances. As with all Bakes & Kropp projects, the kitchen contains a multitude of intelligent storage solutions such as drawer inserts and pull-outs and a dedicated butler’s pantry equipped with a wine fridge and wet bar. The team included both a large porcelain apron-front sink along the perimeter and a smaller prep sink on the island for added convenience when preparing food or washing dishes.

SOFT MODERN MIX

With a balance of modern-leaning aesthetics and more classic elements, this Hamptons kitchen encompasses Bakes & Kropp’s mastery of Soft Modern design. Under the direction of Head of Design Bob Bakes, in collaboration with Elsa Soyars Interiors, we’ve honed the style, characterized by harmonious contrasts, with the juxtaposition of contemporary white paired with Pearl Walnut accents. Brushed stainless steel hardware adds another transitional layer, complimented by the pared-down hardware against Border Emerson cabinetry. Among the contrasts, simple, clean lines remain consistent.

In keeping with the principle of balance, a lustrous backsplash melds warm and cool neutral tones illuminated by the underlit cabinets.

A grand 12-and-a-half-foot-long island centers the kitchen to provide an elegant workstation and serving space. Within close proximity to the expansive range top and double ovens, a builtin faucet defines a functional cooking area with ample storage at one’s feet. Overhead, the customdesigned border hood mirrors the cabinetry’s opposing white and walnut.

WATERFALL DREAMS

Located in Bridgehampton, New York, Bakes & Kropp designed this coastal cool kitchen in its timeless style. The new kitchen afforded our design team endless possibilities, yet Head of Design Bob Bakes found our signature transitional style was the ideal fit.

Classic Meridian cabinetry is hand-painted in Bakes White embellished by signature nickel hardware. Pearl Walnut paneling layers an organic touch, paired with a center island and custom-designed range hood to seamlessly compliment the flooring. Icebox refrigerator latches and polished nickel hood accents add another element of refinement.

The waterfall walnut island intentionally commands the space with bar stool seating, tailored storage solutions, and the double wraparound countertop extension of its marbled prep space. The corresponding backsplash unites working spaces, whereas soapstone counters add another element of contrast. The lines of the paneled ceiling reflect those of the flooring, elongating the kitchen. With no detail overlooked, built-in lighting highlights expert craftsmanship throughout.

BRASS BEAUTY

Located in Lloyd Harbor on Long Island, New York, Bakes & Kropp produced this light and airy kitchen for an interior designer with the goal to create a timeless, sophisticated space to last for years to come. Through the marriage of traditional and classic details, along with clever design solutions, Senior Designer Mary Dimichino and our team sought to showcase our exemplary style while maximizing the footprint of the kitchen.

Classic Meridian and Classic Belleview cabinetry dress the kitchen which is adorned with hand-painted white and Pearl Walnut accents. Satin brass adds a level of refinement and flair in the cabinet hardware and accents on the classic paneled hood. The island, marked by a combination of walnut and marble, shines bright with a beautiful trio of pendant lights overhead to illuminate the prep space. Two refrigerators with walnut doors are situated alongside a double oven, bringing warmth to the otherwise all-white space. With a neutral color scheme accentuated by walnut and satin brass accents, our team created a signature kitchen that places functionality and style at the forefront of the design.

HARBOR VIEWS

Uniting transitional and classic details, this Centerport, Long Island, kitchen captures Bakes & Kropp’s exemplary style. Envisioned by Senior Designer Mary Dimichino, hand-painted white Classic Meridian cabinetry and white planked ceilings elongate the kitchen with crisp lines of symmetry. A stainless steel range and custom hood with nickel bands are flanked by True Walnut icebox refrigerator doors. The adjacent island is accentuated by matching walnut that ties together the key segments within the prep and cooking areas.

True to Bakes & Kropp’s pursuit of marrying function and form, the island serves as an entertaining space with seating for four while also offering additional storage. Its polished nickel hardware corresponds with the greater space’s cabinetry, as well as its classic silhouette. Mesh interlay adds another traditional element in the near stemware cupboard, thoughtfully placed adjacent to the built-in wine fridge. Throughout, a tailored lighting scheme adds warmth and filters light over key serving and cooking spaces.

Bakes & Kropp Senior Designer Justin Sharer transformed this Michigan kitchen into a stunning oasis. Inspired by a recent showroom visit, the homeowners worked closely with Justin to produce a carefully curated design board and decided to entrust Bakes & Kropp to create their dream kitchen.

With a clear direction, the team remodeled the space to expand the footprint for additional storage and added a spacious island for easy entertaining. A transitional aesthetic lends itself to blending warm white tones, walnut wood, and sleek black elements, while form meets function with floor-to-ceiling Artisan Meridian cabinets that create visual interest and convenience. Key design highlights include the eye-catching Bakes & Kropp metal range, which serves as a focal point, and the pop of Jet Black cabinetry adds a bold, unexpected contrast against the surrounding white cabinets.

Notable challenges included confirming the non-load-bearing status of a wall, allowing for creative design solutions. Unique to Bakes & Kropp kitchens, signature elements like the range hood and metal drawer caps are incorporated, setting this project apart with its exceptional combination of warm wood and black finishes.

WHITE AND WARM

Sophistication and warmth come together in this kitchen for a Long Island home. Senior Designer Guillaume Dupré and our team thoughtfully blend classic and contemporary elements to exemplify our signature Bakes & Kropp transitional style while balancing white and warm wood tones throughout the space.

An expansive kitchen island sits center stage offering ample room for entertaining with custom built-in lighting overhead to illuminate the kitchen prep area. Classic Meridian cabinetry is hand-painted in white with bristle walnut accents while the massive waterfall countertop adds a tasteful dose of luxury. Our design team placed the range adjacent to the sink to create a functional workflow for cooking while a range hood with brushed stainless steel and riveted accents sits overhead to bring the look together.

VIRGINIA KNOCKOUT

After knocking down a wall in this Leesburg, Virginia, home outside of D.C., the homeowners were left with an expansive space. Designing within such a large open concept presents its challenges, but Senior Designer Ellen Schott employed her expertise with the support of the larger design team to deliver a refined and functional space within Bakes & Kropp’s signature transitional style.

In line with the homeowners’ vision for an airy and bright kitchen, we’ve designed and crafted Classic Meridian cabinetry in white and Pearl Walnut. Built-in lighting within cabinetry and accented open shelving shines on the finished wood grain and brightens respective prep spaces. The carefully considered warmth of the built-in LED lights seamlessly enhance natural light beaming through the many sliding doors and French windows.

A walnut waterfall island solidifies the primary cooking and entertaining area. Satin and polished nickel accents dress the cabinetry faces and custom sloped range hood, tying elements together within the large open space. Custom sliding barn doors seamlessly blend into the adjacent white cabinetry to conceal a pantry, with a near cabinet offering additional storage to display china behind black metal doors mirroring the space’s windows and door frames.
