TWIGGY MOVES TO
A very special book written especially for Gaston T. May you be able to adapt to, make the best of, and find the fun in every situation!
TWIGGY MOVES TO
For as long as Twiggy could remember, she had been a very happy dog.
She lived in New Orleans with Jen and they did everything together! They took walks along the Mississippi River,
visited family and friends,
and even went to special bars that had bowls out just for dogs!
When Jen and Twiggy rode in the car, Twiggy liked to sit on Jen’s lap behind the steering wheel and pretend that she was driving.
Louisiana was every pup’s dream! There were squirrels to chase..
mounds of monkey grass to leap into and out of‌
the weather was perfect for dozing off in sunny patches of grass‌
and it was not uncommon to hear the music of a marching band from a passing parade.
One day Jen told Twiggy some surprising news - they were moving to New York City! Twiggy didn’t know much about New York, but she loves adventure, so she was ready to go! Until she saw the travel bag‌
Early one morning, Pere and Oma drove Jen and Twiggy to the airport. After waiting in tons of lines, they were finally on board the huge airplane.
Even though Twiggy always likes to sit on the driver’s lap, the pilot said that just wasn’t possible on the airplane. So - like a very brave little pup - Twiggy stayed in her bag underneath the seat in front of Jen and waited for the plane to land.
PILOT
What a racket! When the plane landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport, Twiggy had no idea what had happened!
Times Sq-42 St Station
But that was just the beginning! From there, they rode on a monorail, on the subway, and finally in a taxi cab!
For just a split second, Twiggy thought that she saw Gaston T. riding the subway! Everywhere she looked, there were so many people!
New York City was certainly not what Twiggy had expected! Where was the grass? Where were the squirrels? Where were the sunny patches of grass and marching bands?
Twiggy and Jen would take long walks looking for all of Twiggy’s favorite things, but they just weren’t to be found. She started to feel homesick and a little bit sad.
But then Twiggy saw the mice - and they were fun to chase, almost as fun as squirrels!
There weren’t mazes of monkey grass in the city, but Twiggy learned how to jump over subway grates and between pedestrians without tangling her leash - and that was fun too!
Their small apartment didn’t have many warm patches for sunbathing, but Twiggy discovered the radiator. On cold winter mornings, Jen would move Twiggy’s pillow near the radiator so she could keep warm, which reminded her of lying in the sun by The Fly back home in New Orleans.
As for music‌well there wasn’t much music, but Twiggy would pretend that the police sirens and fire trucks were parts of a marching band - and that made her feel right at home!
After a while, Twiggy forgot what it was like to feel homesick, and she and Jen were very, very happy together in New York!
