PROSPEROUS PARTNERSHIP Duke University and Au Bon Pain What a great union…Duke University and Au Bon Pain! After years of partnering with Au Bon Pain at Virginia Tech, Rick Johnson, newly appointed Associate Vice President of Housing and Dining for Duke University, knew that the inclusion of an ABP in the Bryan Student Center was a must have addition. As a result, Au Bon Pain opened a beautiful café designed to meet the specific needs of the students and the unique space configuration within the Student Center. In the café, students can get tasty, healthful food as fast or slow as they choose. Some students take advantage of the “grab n’ go” option to enjoy a quick meal or snack between classes, while others with more time choose our made-to-order sandwich and salad options and relax while studying or spending time with friends. The ABP café in the Bryan Center is approximately 3,650 square feet, with 105 seats in the main dining room and lofted lounge area. There are an additional 80 seats on an adjacent outdoor patio, surrounding our signature umbrellas and uniquely designed fireplace. Few fast casual brands can provide this type of design flexibility, while still delivering on menu selection. The success of this café is a testament of our café through-put design capabilities and our attention to providing innovative flavorful food blends that students love. Au Bon Pain is honored to partner with such a prestigious University and is committed to providing the best café service and food that nourishes our guests and offers a space that supports community gathering. Rick Johnson states his reasoning for choosing Au Bon Pain as an amenity for Duke: “Au Bon Pain was very popular at Virginia Tech and always received high satisfaction marks from students and staff. We wanted to bring their focus on great food and exceptional service to Duke University. Duke students wanted a company partner that understands healthy food and Au Bon Pain is recognized as one of the leaders in offering healthy menu choices. Duke University looks forward to a long partnership with Au Bon Pain” Rick Johnson Assistant Vice President Student Affairs Housing, Dining, and Residence Life Duke University Box 90937, 102 Flowers Building Durham, NC 27708 919 684-3737 rick.johnson@duke.edu
