Tips FOR HIGH SCHOOL SELECTION AND ENROLLMENT Be part of your daughter’s high school decision. Talk to your daughter about her high school options and help her prioritize what aspects are most important to her. Compare and contrast her top choices by researching each, discussing her experiences with each school, and talking to friends, family members, and current students for an insider’s view. Visit our Admissions website often. The only true constant is change! Be sure to check our site often as dates, times, and event details can change quickly. Choose the events that interest you most and budget your time as all Catholic high schools will be adding events to their fall schedules. sha.shslou.org/admissions/ is your one-stop shop for all SHA activities. Schedule shadow visits for your daughter – this allows her to see the school in action, and begin to see where she fits best. While it may be tempting to request a close friend as her host, consider allowing our team to pair her with a student who shares her interests – she will get the most out of her visit if she experiences classes that interest her! Encourage your daughter to write a “pros and cons” list after events and school visits. You can create these lists yourself for dialogue and discussion with your daughter. Together, choose the school that best fits your daughter’s needs academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually – that provides her opportunities to develop her talents and interests. Encourage her to choose a high school independent of her friends’ influences. Do you still have questions or are having trouble committing to one school? Reach out to our Admissions Office if we can answer questions, provide insight, or assist in any other way. We are here to help you and your daughter. Use the High School Placement Test as a target date for making a high school decision. Eighth graders should prepare to take the HSPT on Saturday, December 11, 2021.
