Batten_ A narrow strip of wood used to hold pieces of wood together or as siding to cover the joints of parallel boards or plywood. Battens are also used in roofings, when they are placed over boards or roof structural members to provide a base for the application of wood or slate shingles.

Some ground slabs have already been built and capping beams are about to be incorporated.
There are two main structures on site, we were told that they are different in design and structure, the one on the left will have light weight timber flooring.

WEEK_07 TUTORIAL_07 RIGHT_Site manager showing the location of capping beams. Below shows the board piers that are placed 8 meters below ground level. The image is taken from the basement carpark. Big pipes are needed in the structure as this is a large residential apartment, large amount of water will be consumed and the excessive amount of stormwater is also taken into account.
