Located in the heart of Todos Santos, Mexico, Paradero Hotel is more than just a typical hotel – it is a high-design landscaping project that blends luxury with outdoor experiences, all while preserving and elevating local communities. Established by Mexico City-based entrepreneurs Pablo Carmona and Joshua Kremer, Paradero Hotel is the first in a planned collection of "soft adventure" hotels that aim to provide guests with a sensory experience unlike any other.
Designed by architects Ruben Valdez and Yashar Yektajo, Paradero Hotel is a series of concrete structures arranged around a central, low-water garden that seamlessly blends with the natural surroundings. The resort sits on a five-and-ahalf-acre flat land that is surrounded by family-owned farms and the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains, giving visitors a sense of being connected to the site. The property's landscape, conceptualized by Mexican firm Polen, features dozens of endemic plants including the Mojave yucca and red sand verbena.
Inside, the hotel's 35 suites offer a peaceful sanctuary for guests. Designed by Guadalajarabased studio B Huber, the suites are austere and elemental in their use of materials, featuring raw wood, concrete, and metal paired with contemporary furnishings in earthy hues and materials. The intentional design of the suites maximizes the communion with nature, with some featuring rooftop terraces with flat hammocks bolted into walls, known as "star nets". The property also offers a three-level suite that feels like a luxury residence. Guests can access their suites via pathways that wind through the garden, further immersing them in the natural environment.
A stay at Paradero is all about the included experiences. From sunrise yoga sessions to horseback riding along the beach, the hotel offers a wide range of activities for guests to choose from. Guests can take part in guided hikes through the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains, go on a bike tour of Todos Santos, or explore the nearby beaches on a stand-up paddleboard. For those looking for a more relaxing experience, the hotel's spa offers a range of treatments using locally-sourced ingredients, such ascactus, herbs, andseasalt, thathavebeenusedfor centuries by the local people to promote healing and wellness. The hotel's beautiful pool is another attraction for guests, offering a refreshing swim amidst the picturesque views of the mountains and verdant gardens dotted with palm trees.
When it comes to dining, Paradero Hotel provides guests with an exceptional experience that celebrates the region's culinary heritage. The hotel's restaurant serves farm-to-table Mexican cuisine, incorporating locally-sourced produce from family-owned farms into its delectable menu. From street food staples to gourmet delights, guests can indulge in a wide range of dishes that reflect the rich and diverse culinary traditions of the region. For those who want to learn more about Mexican cooking, the hotel also offers cooking classes and culinary tours, providing a hands-on experience to explore the flavors and techniques of this vibrant cuisine.
With so much to see and do, a stay at Paradero is more than just a vacation – it's an opportunity to connectwithnatureandimmerseoneselfintherich culture of Todos Santos.
