Hello and welcome to James Madison University! As both an alumnus and a head coach for JMU Swimming and Diving, I am proud to show you everything our university has to offer. James Madison University has been recognized with nationally-ranked areas of study, great undergraduate programs, a beautiful campus and a dynamic student body. Additionally our athletic department is dedicated to building strong student-athletes. We take great pride in our academic and athletic accomplishments. As we continue to build the swimming and diving program toward a championship, we also maintain a standard of scholarly excellence in consistently earning Academic All-America status. As you begin to get a glimpse of JMU swimming and diving you will find a true team atmosphere. This cohesive, motivated group is committed to reaching the next level of competition as one unit. Our team of swimmers, divers, coaches and support staff all play a part in creating a motivating atmosphere where we can compete and excel every day! Over the years, JMU has earned six CAA team championships and boasts 21 individual champions. In 2011 alone, the swimming and diving family had 15 record-breaking performances and placed second in the CAA championship meet. JMU had eight athletes earn All-CAA honors, seven athletes earn NCAA standards and we also sent our first diver to the NCAA championship meet! It is our goal to build on JMU’s tradition of success in the Colonial Athletic Association. I hope you will look further into James Madison University and our Swimming and Diving Program. Coaching Career • Named women’s head coach May 31, 2005. • Co-head coach of men and women for 2004-05 season. • 49-28 in dual meets in seven seasons as head women’s coach with gradual improvement every year in CAA meet standings. • The Dukes have broken a school record 52 times during her seven seasons as head coach. • Four CAA event championships. • Coached Andrea Criscuolo to CAA Rookie Swimmer of the Year in 2009-10. • At least seven wins in dual meets in each of the last four seasons. • 12 school records broken in 2010-11 season. • 14 school records broken in 2008-09 season, including all five relay races. • 2008-09 squad posted 46 results that ranked in the top 10 marks in program history. • Nine school records broken in 2007-08 season, including eight in CAA meet • Produced three NCAA individual qualifiers in Allison Keel, P.J. Naber, and Andrea Criscuolo and first JMU relay team NCAA qualifier • Other coaching experience at The College of William and Mary, Summerset Olde Creek Recreation Center in Fairfax, and Hershey Aquatic Club in Pa.
Swimming Career • As a collegiate swimmer, CAA champion and first JMU swimmer to reach NCAA qualifying times in 100 and 200 breaststroke in 2001. • Former JMU record holder in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and the 200 and 400 medley relay. • Helped JMU to 2001 CAA championship and runner-up finishes in 1999 and 2000. • B.S. in media arts and design in 2001. • B.S. in studio art in 2002. • Older sister Shawnee and younger brother Robert also swam at JMU.

memorable moments
Allison Keel held the JMU record in the 50 freestyle and the 100 and 200. She won a pair of CAA titles in 2006 in the 100 and 200 free races. Between her sophomore and senior seasons spanning 2007-10, P.J. Naber set four individual and five relay school records as a sprint freestyler.
Amanda Kuehl set the six-dive school record in the threemeter dive and won three CAA championships between the 1995 and 1996 seasons. Marcy Lipp won JMU’s first championship in the 1,650 freestyle, claiming the gold in 1992.

The 1993-94 JMU women won the CAA championship by more than 200 points. The Dukes have won six CAA titles since 1986.

Samantha Smith won the gold medal in both breaststroke events at the 2001 CAA championshps.
In her first two seasons, Nicole Jotso shattered both six-dive school records and qualified twice for the NCAA Zone Meet.

Wendy Bryant won consecutive CAA golds in the 200-yard backstroke in 1995 and 1996. She was also a member of seven championship relays.
Cindy Walker was the CAA Swimmer of the Year in 1993 and Outstanding Meet Performer in 1992 and 1993. She won 14 combined individual and relay gold medals in the CAA.
Erin McDonnell earned five individual and nine relay gold medals at the CAA championshps from 1991 to 1994.
Lottie Swanson claimed nine CAA titles in her career and set a pair of records that stood from the early 1990s until 2008.

Tradition
Jenny Simmons won five CAA relay races in 1992 and 1993. Her 1992 400-yard freestyle relay squad held the record until 2008.
As a junior, Jessie Everett set new school records in both the sixdive one-meter and threemeter events.
Mary Sink won the one-meter dive in the CAA in 1992 and later served as JMU’s diving coach.
As a sophomore in 201011, Kim Helfrich became the first member of the JMU Swimming and Diving team to qualify for the NCAA Championships. She finished 24th nationally in the one-meter dive and 28th in the three-meter dive.

The Jim McKay Natatorium in the Aquatic and Fitness Center at George Mason University will host the 2012 CAA Swimming and Diving Championships. The facility has hosted the CAA championships since 2000.
Amanda Kuehl has won three of JMU’s four diving gold medals, which came in the 1995 and 1996 meets.
Cindy Walker is JMU’s only CAA Swimmer of the Year, earning the award in 1993.
