Profile/ My name is Joshua Norbury, and I’m a second year Graphic & Communication Design Student at the University of Leeds and am currently looking for a position within a design agency for a ‘Year in Industry’. As part of our degree, the University offers students the chance to undertake a years worth of employment, work experience or work placements within the fields of art, design and advertising. In order to take part in this, students must find themselves at least nine months of work, be it at one or a number of agencies. This is obviously what I hope you can help me with. Here is what I would like to offer you in return: I see myself as a creative, hard working and dependable person, always willing to learn in order to develop my talents and skills for a subject I am so passionate about. I believe that I can offer a real drive and level of enthusiasm and originality, whatever the task I am entrusted with. I have tried to demonstrate my commitment and love for design in my portfolio, which consists of both real world and University set work, more examples of which can be seen at www.jnorbs.co.uk.
I am simply looking for the opportunity to prove myself and demonstrate my abilities for the subject.

Experience / Industrial Placements Outside of University, I have completed placements with a number of Design and Advertising agencies:
GYRO:HSR Manchester Most recently I completed a four month placement with GYRO:HSR Manchester, an Advertising and Marketing Agency with offices all over the world. During my time there I enjoyed working on a number of internal and external live briefs, sometimes working as an individual, and sometimes as part of a creative team.
Glorious Creative I had a month’s experience with this Manchester based Graphic Design Agency, during which I worked on several live briefs and pitches, including a piece that may be up for an award later this year (although I can’t say anymore at this point).
Kelloggs Design Studio I am currently on placement here as part of the creative team responsible for the Kelloggs brand across the UK.
Experience / Skills and Personal Projects I am an avid user of industry standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite and Premier, and am currently being trained in the use of Final Cut Pro and Adobe After Efects. I have worked a number of times alongside other students as well as professional designers and copywriters, successfully completing work for a number of briefs. Outside of University, I have created promotional matrial for the Carex Healthy habit Campaign, as storyboard new television advertisments aimed at parents and children. I recently submitted my response to a second year University brief for the D & AD 2009 Student Awards, and was awarded a place in the 2009 Online annual for my animation on Black Holes.
